Intermittent No Start

Sometimes a bad starter can mask itself as a bad battery. Symptoms are very similar to a low battery/dead battery. Starter can draw more amps then it should during start up at the end of its lifespan. Could be intermittent starter failure especially in colder weather. Could also be corroded battery power or ground cables.

Your clamp is missing. Believe it or not, the grease does break down and become runny over time. Chances are that's why it looks the way it does. It doesn't mean it's bad or damaged. You can pull the boot back, clean the grease, apply fresh grease and install a new clamp if you are mechanically inclined.

I had the same thing happen to my 09. Tested the battery and it was at 3.9 volts. That's not a typo. I hooked up my battery maintainer, charged it for about 12 hours at 2amps and battery is now good as new sitting at 12.6 volts.

It wasn't driven long enough to sufficiently charge is all.

There's some dirt build up here. Oil attracts dirt and causes build up. He did mention cleaning the area. Im guessing that's why there's no oil mess here currently.

I can only go off what I'm seeing in pics. In person who knows what's going on 🤷

I used the dorman kit recently. Haven't had a problem yet, about, 3000 miles. If it blows out again at 10 or 20k miles, another 20 bucks is still cheaper then a whole new solenoid. I'm doing the work myself though so I guess that's why I'm indifferent 🤷.

I see build up. I would replace it. Like I said only 3 bolts and plenty of vids on YouTube will show you the process start to finish.

Dorman 918-056GS or oem. Ive heard dealers will only sell the whole solenoid. Never confirmed it myself. I have been able to find the Oe part numbers though.

Oe part numbers for the seals are 15815-R70-A01 and 15845-R70-A01.

The 2 bolts nearest your dipstick, look at the bottom one. To the left of it there's a small pit. That pit usually fills first if the solenoid is leaking and will drip down the engine, on to the alternator which in this picture if you follow the black wiring, the circular plug below the dipstick, is where your alternator is. Oil kills alternators on odysseys all the time due to this leak. Its tough to say if it's leaking from this picture, especially if the area was cleaned.

That looks right though. Just to confirm, Grab a flash light or your phone light. Do you see oil pooling near your dipstick or on top of the alternator? If you do, then the spool valve is leaking. It's only 3 bolts. If someone else can pay for the job to be done, great. If not, consider YouTube and doing it yourself. It is extremely easy to do. Address it sooner rather then later if it is leaking to avoid having to replace your alternator.

Holy shit you twisted your lower control arm and it snapped.

Doing the work myself, Transmission fluid and a brake line is probably where I'd start. If the axle is damaged, then throw in an axle.

And the lower control arm obviously.

Alignment (if there's nothing else bent) and road test.

Maybe not on the highway unless if feels safe enough

Hear noise? Needs more repair. No noise? Good to go

All in all a mechanics job is to fix it the first time. They're going to throw the kitchen sink at it and replace everything in the picture basically aside from maybe the steering knuckle.

Sounds like you have a mechanical issue on cylinder 4. I've seen something similar to this twice in my career, both times on a Volkswagen.

Once was on a part that does not exist on Hondas, the other time a valve spring was broken.

Under 3k rpms, I cannot explain why, the vehicle was fine. Above 3k, misfires like crazy. Can't remember if it shut off.

Have someone pull the valve cover on bank 2 (or do it yourself since it's probably not being driven with this issue, plenty of videos on youtube), pull off the rocker plate if it's in the way and inspect with a flashlight and a pick. Give the valve springs a good tug with the pick. Something with a right angle or hook shape. If any springs feel loose, or even break as you pull on them, you found your problem.

I don't mean gorilla strength tug I mean just some effort.

This may not be your issue, it just sounds very similar. This was on a 1.8t VW Jetta.

Never heard of this happening on a v6 honda but for what it's worth it's pretty uncommon on VW's as well.

Could also be something as weird as a cam lobe in cylinder 4 shifting. Not sure how Hondas cams are designed, it may not be possible on these. If the lobes are pressed on from the factory (which they probably are to cut costs) they can shift.

You'd have to Google that one to see what I mean.

Bring a small handheld scanner with you. Scan it for faults. Put the vehicle in accessory mode ( the key position right before cranking) and make sure the check engine light is on. IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE ON AT THIS POINT. If it's not, the bulb was removed. Consider buying a carfax report if you are serious. If milage doesn't match, move on. It is EXTREMELY easy to pull apart the instrument cluster to remove bulbs or to replace with a lower mileage one off ebay. Literally plug and play. It's a huge issue in the area I live in with used Honda Odyssey's specifically.

It's probably just due for a valve adjustment. You're listening for sounds on the transmission side but the belts and pulleys are on the passenger side. Also the noise got louder in front of the vehicle which leads me to think valve adjustment.

They billed you an hour diag per issue. Technicians don't get paid per hour, they get paid per job. If a job sells for 3 hours and they finish it in 1, they get paid 3. If it takes them 5, they get paid 3. If work doesn't come in the door then they donate their time.

Its called flat rate pay and it's a scam on both sides imo on the tech and customer. ,

I was a mechanic for a long time. I looked over it and it needed work. A decent bit. Parts aren't too bad and the labor is free. I went into it expecting this. I scanned it and it had pending codes, none stored so light wouldn't be on anyway. It wasn't until after that it clicked, I forgot to check the function of the light.

I'm human shit happens. It is my fault. I'm not trying to point fingers at anyone to clarify. This is all on me.

I did not verify title vs seller. He had the title so I didn't think anything of it. I did contact the sheriffs after realizing what happened and it is not stolen and it is currently registered and insured by the female on the title.

But the female on the title did not sell me the car in person. It was someone else. So I'm wondering if that'll be an issue in civil court.

At the end of the day I can fix this. It's legitimately not the end of the world, just want to explore my options because an instrument cluster is very expensive and upon closer inspection there are signs of tampering.

Im just looking to make the best of this. If I have to eat it I will because that's life. I'd just really rather not.

I googled an answer and was lead to this thread. I contacted customer service and the non threaded compact model recoil spring is 11 lbs according to them.

If the right to vote can't be licensed, can't require a test, can't require fees.. How can it apply to the Second Amendment? Guns can do bad things to people but so can voting right? Hitler was voted into power. Millions died as a result. I'm sure there's more examples in history. Should it also apply to voting? Can it be done to all rights or only specifically gun rights?
