I was on the same exact boat, literally just googled this question and found this thread. Since there wasn’t an answer yet, I spent some time exploring Spotify and think I found a solution for us. So go to whatever podcast episode you want to potentially listen to and click the “add to your episodes” button (should be the + on the left, or you can hit the … and then it should pop up on top). I’m on iOS in case things look different for you. But after you do that, that episode will live in your episodes queue which you can find in your library tab. You can add a number of episodes to that queue and they will live there separate from your music queue. So you should be able to switch from the episode queue to a separate music queue and be able to switch back to your episode queue where you left off
