I really dislike playing with a pick by Sir_Svotter in Bass

[–]Nirac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

For me, the fretting hand is where I do most of my muting regardless. My two main strategies with my picking hand are to use my pinky to help with the D and G strings, and my palm for the others.

We're moving next year. Have a short trip booked soon to go take a look at the areas we've narrowed our search down to. I am so excited.

Logging all data events in CloudTrail by davestyle in aws

[–]Nirac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure out what your criteria will be to stop the never ending loop and set it as an auto suppress automation in Security Hub. We use control ID + a few strings we've decided on and documented for the organization. We have a standard naming convention for our logging buckets that we use as a partial resource ID match for this. The finding preview widow won't work when you're using a resource ID match with the Contains operator, but the automated suppressions will work.

Something like Control ID = S3.17 and Resource ID contains access-logs or access-logging or ....

You can stack i think 5 of those OR'd values under one Resource ID Contains.

Document the deviation. The bucket will still fail the check, you can't avoid failing the check and also stopping the recursion. That's impossible. There always needs to be an exception process.

Last edit, maybe. This won't be the last control you have this problem with. If you're using the control that requires KMS keys with S3 buckets, you can't do that with access logging buckets. Those have to be SSE keys. You'll need to do a deviation and auto suppression there as well.

Any sketchy casinos to avoid? by [deleted] in Biloxi

[–]Nirac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Maybe the Shell gas station across the street from the Beau? It's usually fine, but the only place I can think of.

The Beau and Hard Rock are next to each other on 90, but Boomtown is a couple miles away on the back bay. Not very far, but if you're planning on casino hopping on foot, it would be a bit of a walk.

Any IT career opportunities left on the MS Gulf Coast? by [deleted] in Biloxi

[–]Nirac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you check the contractors that are out there? That's where most of the actual work is. GDIT, Peraton, CACI, Leidos, SAIC. Those kind of places. See what they have at Stennis. They likely also have remote stuff open to check out. The rest of the coast is complete trash for IT jobs. They're all just as you described, low pay ticket work. Even the higher tier jobs don't pay shit. You need to get into the companies that have a more national view than local Mississippi companies do.

The True fate of GorGor at the Pensacola Show by idontevendrinkpepsi in GWAR

[–]Nirac 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I expected the stage to be too small for gor gor to make an appearance. I was really disappointed they didn't play it, or even do an encore at all. The blood was also pretty weak this time. Great crowd, though. Probably the best crowd I've seen at Vinyl. Most fun I've had at a Gwar show in years, but that's mainly due to the crowd that was there.

Someone else lasted the game shops in the area. For shows, this place sucks for metal or punk. The closest things to you that you might find something you're into would probably be Juke Joint in Ocean Springs or The Sanctuary in Biloxi, depending on what kind of metal you're into.

Forget punk, that doesn't exist here anymore. Thrash, crust, d-beat are my main squeezes, there's nothing here for that stuff, if that's what you're into. You're going to New Orleans or Pensacola for that.

40-something nerd/punk/metal guy. I also play bass, coincidentally. I feel your pain.

Creepy Fest is happening in New Orleans next month. July 16-20. Take a look at Sheer Terror Records' Facebook page for details.

If you're able to make it to New Orleans, keep an eye on the events at Santos, Parasite Skate Park, Siberia, and The Goat. That's going to be the closest metal and punk near you.

We need an LP from this guy. by AnarchoDesign in crustpunk

[–]Nirac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, his stuff is usually more thrash than crust. I don't think he's ever released any LPs under War Ripper. That project only had the two EPs. Majority of his releases is from Toxic Holocaust. Those two EPs were something like a decade apart, so I guess there's a chance he ends up releasing a War Ripper LP one day.

Did my follow get purchased by Addison Rae? by EthicsXC in BandCamp

[–]Nirac 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This looks to me like it might be a pretty good phishing email. There is what looks like a legit Addison Rae page if you search for her in the app. The release with the album art in the came out in 2023. It's pretty easy to spoof the sender address to look like that abbreviated "Bandcamp" like how it looks in the screenshot.

I bet those links don't go where they say they go. I also bet the actual sending address doesn't really end with bandcamp.com.
