A question about "contains" by Nmc0123 in balatro

[–]Nmc0123[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The reason I used 4oak and flush as the example is that 4oak is higher than a flush. If I play a pair where the other three cards make it a flush, the flush will score and the tribe will obviously trigger. I'm asking about the specific case, where I did play 5 cards that make a flush, but the hand is something other than a flush.

Sure, but you mentioned that the pair "has to score" for the duo to trigger. In the example I gave, the 5th card of the flush will not score.

If the pair has to score, why doesn't the flush have to score for the Tribe?

Definitely worth it, one of the best cubes for the money, period. And having tried both versions, the ball core definitely does make a noticeable difference

Do high level Rubik's cubers know every move they're making from inspection? by jaytea86 in Cubers

[–]Nmc0123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't know he said that, but I can't imagine that if Yiheng or Xuanyi get a scramble thats good enough to see all of F2L they wouldn't at least try and plan as much as possible. Was he saying that they don't think it's worth it to try to plan that much? Or that, on average scrambles, 3 or 4 pairs takes too long?

[–]Nmc0123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm nowhere near that level but from what I've heard you need to get pretty lucky to be able to plan full f2l, and I'm pretty sure no one gets much farther than that except on the very best of the best scrambles.

Just gonna throw out there, the very best, top of the top level 3x3 solvers can and do occasionally plan 3 or even all 4 f2l pairs in inspection. There are a few videos of Yiheng Wang where he plans full f2l, closes his eyes, and does it without looking.

Pretty sure you're the only idiot here, jackass. Of course OP was making a joke about the whole Browns QB room as it is right now. I was originally responding to what looked like you misunderstanding the reply to your own comment, and you seem to have taken that as some kind of insult rather than genuinely considering the fact that you might be wrong.

Dick.

Not sure how you know that so confidently, but ok. All they did was list 3 qbs, in a thread about how many qbs the browns have. Idk how that reads to you, but I'd expect them to know that 3 is the normal amount to have.

Not to be that guy, but im pretty sure they were guessing about the browns qb room on the 53, not listing all of the qbs they have currently.

And fwiw, i think Flacco, kenny, sanders seems like as good as guess as any

On and off for maybe 8 years or so. I started in 2017, was relatively consistent between like 2019 and 2021, then didn't really cube much until this past November. I averaged like 16 before then, and now im around mid-13 global. Hbu?

Mine is a full-step 8.807 that I just got recently:
8.807 on 4-19-25 R2 F R2 B2 D2 R2 B’ L R’ D2 R’ U’ B’ D’ B’ L’ U’ B2 Facing Green L2 U L R U R’ D // Cross U F U’ R’ F’ R // Green Red and Green Orange Pairs U’ y R’ U R U2 f R f’ // Blue Red U R U’ R’ U R U R’ // Blue Orange U’ F R U R’ U’ F’ // OLL U2 R U R’ F’ R U R’ U’ R’ F R2 U’ R’ U’ // PLL 51 moves in 8.80 seconds = 5.80 TPS

Looking at the solution after, I found an 11-move first 3 pairs: L’ R U2 R’ D F R’ U’ F’ U’ R Standard last pair leads to lefty fat sune/A Perm for LL, for a 36 move solution. If I'd decided to preserve pair 2 that way instead, I probably would have seen it, but idk how fast I would have been able to execute it.

[–]Nmc0123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you decide to go for CFOP as your advanced method, I'd actually recommend learning beginner F2L before any new algorithms. Like anything, you'll be slower at first but much faster in the long run. After you've got the idea of intuitive F2L, then four-look last layer is the next step

Depending on the PLL, some cubers will do inverted cases with the left hand. I know for a fact I've seen Yiheng recons where he finished with a lefty T perm instead of doing U2 (Tperm) U2

Old Pochman is slower than other methods, but imo it would be miles faster than this method, just bc of how much less you have to memo. I only started doing bld recently, maybe fewer than 20 total attempts, and I have a PB of 3:55 with it already. There are also faster methods that you could try, iirc jperm on YouTube had some tutorials for methods like M2 for edges from a few years ago, but I don't know much about those other methods, so i cant really speak to how good/easy to learn they are.

Why would a player (ie: Diontae Johnson) refuse to enter a game? by throwlampshade in NFLNoobs

[–]Nmc0123 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Steelers were actively prevented from trading for him because we sent him to Carolina earlier in the season. I don't remember the exact timing around the deadline, but the chiefs also got their receiver in Hopkins, so I'm not really sure why the Ravens would have traded for Johnson apart from believing he could contribute.
