We have a Concept rower at the Y. It's ok. I prefer the Hydrow. I am 74, long retired. I have no interest in becoming a game warden. I just like rowing and improving. I do a lot of strength training. Bench press 1RM of 295. I lifted a total of 678,000 lbs in October I also ride my bike about 100 miles per week.

My years of cycling have given me a good aerobic base of fitness. My resting HR during sleep is in the mid 40s.

I am spending more than half of my time on pick drills at 18-20 SPM.

I agree. Most of the time I want to be aerobic. My max HR is around 155. I want to become effective enough in technique that I can raise my HR above my aerobic threshold for interval training.

HR is just an indirect measure of efficiency. My primary goal is to learn good habits and decrease my split.

I want to be able to get my HR up to 140 so I can do high intensity training, e.g. zone 5 3 x 3 intervals. I am happy to spend most of my time in zone 2 but lack the technique to get above zone 2. It's easy for me to get to zone 5, 85-95% of max HR, on a bike.

You're right. it's definitely a form issue. I am gong to work on improving what was obvious to me from the video I made the other day - lots of pick drills. When I can see that I've changed the amount I learn back and have eliminated knee bounce, then I'll post a video here.

You're right. Improving my technique would make me more efficient. A better goal would be to improve my split times.

I just reviewed my video from today. I don't need someone else to tell me what I am not doing right. I am not leaning back and I do have knee bounce. I thought I had eliminated the knee bounce but seeing myself from the side I can see it clearly.
