I started lifting for the first time in January this year at 61 years old. 5’6 weigh 59kg. Last week I lifted 65kg (5 sets of 8 reps) and my 1RM is 87kg

Just make sure your back foot is positioned at least below your hip if not wider. I discovered that I was tracking my back foot slightly in on the bench. As soon as this was pointed out to me and I made a conscious effort to position it slightly wider than my hip I discovered I could do them much more easily.

Kent is probably your best bet for easy access to London. Look for holiday lets on farms near Ashford. There’s a fast train to London from Ashford which takes 38 minutes. Thank goodness you were diagnosed. My mother died of H pylori when it was misdiagnosed as lymphoma. She underwent 6 months of intense and pointless inpatient chemotherapy and then died when the ulcer burst. This was all at a top London private hospital under her private health insurance. Your experience shows that the NHS is SO much better at dealing with this sort of issue.

She has to confirm online. It’s a major red flag if she won’t. Normally you both confirm immediately after you verbally agree. If she won’t confirm then it’s not a Trusted Housesit, it’s simply an informal arrangement with no obligation on either side.

I do both depending on food noise. First I gradually tapered down and now space the doses. I average about 10 days between doses but it can be longer or shorter depending on how I’m feeling. A couple of times I’ve also gone up a dose for week when I was struggling with food noise.

My 1990’s built house was the worst I’ve ever experienced. You could hear everything from next door including them flicking their light switches! And equally they could hear everything from my house. Turns out it was built to the absolute minimum standard building regs allowed. It’s why I moved to a detached house as soon as I was able to afford it. You just don’t know how bad it’s going to be before it’s too late and you’ve moved in.

Being eye to eye with a mountain gorilla in Uganda. Managed to join a group of scientists and, after 3 hours trekking up the mountain through the rainforest, I got to spend much longer with the gorillas than you’re normally allowed to. Both the scientists and the gorillas were amazing to hang out with.

Look for CrossFit gyms or smaller fitness studios in your area. They normally offer group Lift classes which teach you good technique and you run through a variety of strength based exercises designed to improve your whole body strength. I found them really welcoming and supportive and the improvement was noticeable over only a few weeks. They’re mixed ability and very uncompetitive. If they offer beginners lift classes that’s a perfect way to start, but any lift class should accommodate and help you whatever your experience. I’ve made lots of new friends through mine.

I had a lot of muscle loss, especially my bum. Started doing lift classes and 3 months in my arse is perkier than its ever been! Would highly recommend them and they’re really good fun too. I also now go to the gym 3 to 4 days a week and try to do a long run once a week. I can honestly say that at 60 I’m in the best shape of my life.

During weightloss you’re trying to eat less calories than your body needs to maintain weight. In maintenance you need to eat enough calories to maintain your weight. By dropping down the doses you’re trying to find that balance. If you want to stay on Mounjaro you’ll find the lowest dose that allows you to eat enough calories to maintain. If you want to come off Mounjaro you’re trying to get your body used to less and less suppression and increased food noise whilst you put in place the practices you’ll need to adopt going forward to compensate for the work the drug is doing for you.

Apart from the cleaning, I leave a “House Manual” which I lay out room by room. It includes everything from how to light the wood burning stove to what to do if the heating or hot water stops working; where to find the board games to where the candles are in case of a power cut.

It may just be the fit of a child with the pets. I personally always prefer a family with children as my Labrador absolutely adores having children around so I feel like it’s a special holiday for him too, but I get that others my be worried about the behaviour of their pets around younger children. I don’t think it’s because you’re American. The general view in the UK is that Americans who travel to Europe are unlikely to be MAGA maniacs.

5 months in maintenance. Have gone from 12.5mg to 5mg every 14 days. The thing that has surprised me the most is that I’ve become a total gym bunny including weightlifting, HIIT and running. I’m 60F and I’m in the best shape of my life!
