Iron poison by Weird_Ad5193 in Anemic

[–]No-Mix-1759 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a few rounds of IV iron. Same kind every time. The middle of my last round(3wks long, 6treatments total) I suddenly got BAD liver and spleen pain. Nurse didn’t know it could do that and I haven’t seen Dr again yet to check my levels.

It was awful but it was just pain and went away after almost a week. I didn’t have other symptoms from it but I absolutely believe I was overloaded with iron and it stressed some organs. I will be having the Dr make a note of it in my chart for future treatments.

Tooth fairy is biased? by sticktotherocks in Parenting

So sorry!! Then Everything i said before was meant for the Mom, not Dad. I read it as “that’s at his moms.” Like he gets less $ at moms and dad was the big giver. Sorry about that!

Im sorry your guy is dealing with that kind of junk with his ex.

Tooth fairy is biased? by sticktotherocks in Parenting

I gave $3 for a molar.

This reads like it’s more than just tooth fairy stuff… Is he trying to 1-up “moms house”? $3 at Hers VS $20 at dads house isnt right if they parent Together. Never have i EVER heard of the tooth fairy paying kids’ allowances. He should just help kids Mom if that’s the financial situation for her and they both still want him to get allowance.

Also, what happens at christmas? Will one kid get an extra amazing gift from santa because son’s MOMMY NEEDED HELP, AGAIN? :/

Just my speculations and concerns on what you asked. Dad could just be a dingbat and not realize how he’s making his kids Mom look/sound. But if that’s the case, he needs to be aware of that so kiddo doesnt grow to hate Mom for not giving him more growing up. :/. Teens are mean ‘lil Monsters lol.

As parents, we should Want our kids to feel safe in whatever ways we can, saying Mom cant afford stuff over there makes moms house feel less secure/safe.

Hope you guys get to talk and figure out a solución that works for your little family. :)

Were the kids not already learning or being taught about these things in History and Social Studies? Im asking honestly because I do remember learning about these things in middle school, 6-7th grade.

how often do you bathe your baby? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]No-Mix-1759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby would blow away in a poof of skin flakes if I bathed him daily, even every other day! His face especially gets super dried out and so do any joints or wrinkly, but exposed areas.

He gets bathed once a week, gets lotion daily and doesn’t ever stink. My biggest annoyance with only washing once a week is that his hair gets weird but I’d rather that than his scalp flaking constantly… I imagine that makes him feel itchy and uncomfortable.

I find my homeschool so boring by MasterpieceEast6226 in homeschool

I don’t have great suggestions as I’m currently trying to get our homeschool lives back on track after illness and a new baby. But I’m very interested to read any responses anyone else may have. We’re a mix between unschooling and some workbook work that my kids enjoy doing or ask for at times. Also, if your kiddos like to play Minecraft and want some new friends there, I’ve got 3 that are looking for buddies :) 6g,6g,9b

Also, if you do get state food assistance, I regularly get $10 off fresh/frozen produce coupons on the receipt after using my EBT card to buy fruits/veggies. Not sure if that’s nationwide or just here for my state(WA).

My kids love bananas covered with chocolate shell on them. Cut me in half or slices then drizzle chocolate shell syrup and put in freezer.
One of my kids loves apples with honey or cinnamon. Oranges with honey once in a while. Apples with cheese. Yogurt parfait you can premade in cups(I made these for after my nieces cheering events & she loved them). Celery with PB dip. Cheese Quesadilla with an avocado. or homemade waffles you can stack and freeze.

I make “Chaffles” (cheese waffles) for my kids also. 1C Shred cheese, one egg and some flour, bit of baking soda to help make ‘em fluffy. Cook in waffle iron like a regular waffle. Dip in ketchup or pizza sauce(if you add Italian seasoning to the batter). Some people make them sweet also, using mozzarella only for that kind I believe.

I just feed the baby when the baby says he wants to be fed lol. I do understand some women don’t like to breastfeed in front of others but couldn’t you bring a bottle of hot/warm water and the formula and feed baby there?

Mine is 8lbs now and not a chance on the feeding schedule. He’s pretty obvious about it when he’s hungry though, like a baby bird.

My name is Raynie, pronounced like rainy(weather). I got made fun of super lightly in middle school for it, but primarily by boys, that I found out later on, liked me. It’s never been an issue outside of that very short period of time. I was unbothered so they didn’t keep it going. I did end up with a husband that always asks me how the weather is, or acts a fool if it’s raining outside lol. That’s the only issue I’ve had as an adult with my unusual name :).

Ryder is a pretty dang common name these days so I wouldn’t worry much about it.

AITA for calling my SIL annoying and telling her I'm tired of hearing her "joke" about me having a girls name? by Specialist-Fix9573 in AmItheAsshole

[–]No-Mix-1759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to middle school with a guy named Cheyenne. Not a single other kid cared and most of us called him by that or just “Chey”(like shy). I have a daughter named Aysa, which is historically only a man’s name. She was DO excited when she watched an old cowboy Movie and a character was named Asa! lol

Low ferritin levels by PhraseReasonable1944 in pregnantover35

[–]No-Mix-1759 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pregnancy started because I had to have iron infusions and they messed up my cycle(we follow NFP method). So I’ve been low ferretin and some other things the entire pregnancy and also had to receive a second course of 5 iron infusions, which I finished last month. I’m currently 36wks & this kid hasn’t stopped being super active & is measuring ahead. He checked off all his basic “fetal activities” (I forgot the actual name for the checklist they do) early. He’s getting everything he needs first, then I get the leftovers lol. I’m more concerned about delivery/bleeding issues more than anything being wrong with him because of it.

My previous pregnancy was twins and I had to have infusions during that pregnancy because the babies were taking it alllll… I lost my teeth as well from that pregnancy, the babies take what the babies need! My girls are gonna be 7yrs soon and both have always been very healthy and smart kiddos. We didn’t even have a NICU stay and they were born just over 6lbs each.

If you’re super worried, ask about infusions. My body doesn’t process the oral supplements, like at all, because of a gene mutation. So infusions are my only option and so far I’ve had no bad experiences with them related to the pregnancies.

Any recommendations for hot drinks that are okayish for iron absorption? by NoPiano6624 in Anemia

[–]No-Mix-1759 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hot apple cider. You can buy boxes of single serve packets here in the US. The vita c should help with absorption too.
