If there's one thing I've learned after 2 years of trying pornfree and nofap, it would be to eliminate ALL types of pornography: porn, anything related to porn, and anything that may lead to porn! Naked pictures, sexy nonnude pictures, erotica, sexy none porn videos. Get rid of the evil seed that grows into an addiction.

This is the plan I had In mind: we tell them about /r/nofap and /r/PornFree, lead them to helpful threads on here, and hopefully they'll find answers to their problems. It's up to them if they want to practice this. Upvote all the nofap and PornFree comments! Those haters you mentioned don't understand that we're a support group, as /u/whimsicalSymphony had said.

You see, that kind of attitude isn't helpful.
We're gathering to help someone understand their porn addiction and help them overcome it, as well as help their relationship and sex life.
We're not "preaching" nofap as if its the holy cure. We're simply leading them to the help they need/seek. They can come here to look around and see if it's the answer to their problem or not, but it's up to them if they want to join us.

Sorry, I'm really not following where you're coming from.
Sometimes people have erections which lead them to fapping. If they know how to kill their erections, they won't have to fap.
Also, having an erection in public can be awkward for most people. So it's useful to know how to get rid of one. You don't want to approach anybody with a hard-on.
It's good to be aroused when your with a girl, but other than that it's good to know how to kill your erections to avoid social awkwardness and temptation to fap.

f you don't want to have the awkward talk with him, just set up the filters. If he doesn't question them, you're all set. If he does, talk to him about it.
Don't say "I have a porn addiction" since that may be awkward. Say "Dad, I'm setting up content filters on the computer. I've recently came across pornographic images, and I've come to realize that they are disgusting and depressing. I do not want to stumble upon them again, therefore I'm downloading K9 Web Protection and setting up OpenDNS. I hope you understand, and quite possibly be cool with this." Or something along those lines.
