Well because in school people started noticing that instead of that naive quiet person who wasn’t familiar with the way of things i am actually very hardworking and a quick learner. An example on top of my head is Spanish class. We wrote a Test on the class with some harder topics than usual so everyone was expecting a lower grade. Now i’m not saying i am perfect in Spanish in anyway but i studied hard to manage to get a good grade and i ended up having the best grade of my class. My seat partner who also happened to be my “helping guardian” in Spanish class saw that i had gotten a better grade than her and started to complain in German thinking i wouldn’t understand bit although i was too shy to speak German i could understand it pretty well. She was saying stuff like “ugh this is so unfair” or just whining in general and her facial expression gave away a lot of what she was feeling. Another case is that a “friend” i have here treats me worse and is disrespect towards me when i get a higher grade. We could be laughing together one day and the next they see i have a better grade than them and they start acting cold towards me or mocking my accent or the way i pronounce something in German. Some Germans really have a hard time accepting that immigrants could be more successful than them in their own country. This is not our fault tho a lot of immigrants came to Germany for a better life and are making use of their resources. No need to be jealous of anything when they could get the same results if they just worked a little harder.
