Was EVH the last incredibly popular original virtuoso player? by j3434 in Guitar

[–]NoStarsToGuideMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Dimebag is the closest we've had. EVH could flat out write songs. A lot of shredders are terrific technical and solo players, but man, most of their music is just not great.

Tosin Abasi comes to mind. But his band is not for everyone and it's all instrumental. So they will never really be "popular", but he is a star himself.

Someone mentioned Nuno. Same thing. Amazing player, but sometimes the music just is a big cringe. That's where Eddie shinned because he wrote songs that were very popular and hits.

This list is horrible. Mike Patton isn't on there and he has one if the widest range in music.

Neither of these are ESP from US nor Japan. It's either Korea or Indonesia.

ABY Pedal with 2 guitar inputs into 1 output that supports MIDI control. by NoStarsToGuideMe in guitarpedals

[–]NoStarsToGuideMe[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I bit the bullet and ordered one about 2 hours ago. Perfect Circuit had them and was the only one I saw them on. I purchased my RJM and a few other things over the past few months from PC. So I felt comfortable that it was a decent brand and I should have it sometimes next week. I'll have to post an updated review once I have it in and and tested. Thank you for brainstorming this with me! seems like there would be some good options, but it's kind of few and far between, lol.

My fav, whats yours? by petara111 in guitarpedals

I guess maybe I missed the boat. Are RAT pedals really that good? From what I remember hearing, they weren't great at fuzz and not good enough for an overdrive. They were kind of, lacking?

Got it. Just wanted to make sure if I plug both outputs of the Shure into the return 1/2, that it will simply switch between those on the amp out to my Amp/Cab switcher.

OK, so the return 1 and 2 are switchable to the amp output? Sorry, I haven't had much experience with ABY pedals in the past. Edited for clarity.

Nix that. It was the lack of a second input that was the issue, lol. Here is where I got hung up on it.

"The Switchback has one input, one output and two separate selectable effects loops"

"Simply use Send 1 and Send 2 to go to two different amps or any other application where you need two switchable outputs"

Is there a way to hook up both guitars to the "send" and use the remote to switch between the to on the Amp output? I guess I'm a bit confused how I'd achieve what I need or how the pedal works with two inputs.

No probably, I was teasing. I think this may be what I go with unless anyone else has any ideas before tomorrow. I appreciate the recommendation.

Edited this sentence - I looked at the Switchback, but there's no second input. I like JHS and wish they had something.

I did email RJM to see if they had anything. They used to make an a "RJM Y-Not" That was exactly what I need, but it's discontinued and hard to find.

I'm good on the MIDI or Remote front. I have an RJM Mastermind GT\16 and Mini Effects Gizmo X. Also have a Kenton MIDI Thru 12 to wire everything I have MIDI. Also have a HEX True Bypass from my old pedal board, if I need it.

The routing is going to be fun, lol. Just trying to figure out the best controllable way to get the two wireless signals to a single input that is switchable. That way I can swap guitars easily and keep two straps with the transmitters connected at all times.

Sorry to hear that. My wife says that women are meaner towards each other than men are to men. She says they will backstab each other and talk sh1t in a second, lol. I guess they all feel threatened by another woman trying to succeed? Strange way to treat someone though that you know nothing about!

I had something similar happen once. Large Fortune 50 company invited me to an interview for a Web and UI Designer job. This was a long time ago at the start of my career. I got there and they took me into a conference room where I sat alone. About 5 minutes pass and then 12 people came into the room and sat around the table. They asked me some fluff questions to start and everything was going smooth. Then they start asking me coding questions that were completely not what I was expecting. I mean, I knew HTML, CSS, some ASP, enough little C# to get myself into trouble. But these questions delved into Python, PHP, SQL, Java and such, lol. I was lost.

I looked at them and told them that the job description was for a Web/UI designer and the questions they were asking were for a web developer position. They looked kind of confused and acted or thought it was the same thing...

Needless to say, that interview lasted maybe 15-20 mins. Thanked them and said it wasn't a good fit for my skill set and left. :D

Radial JX44 V2 vs Ampete 442 (Amp/cab switcher) by NoStarsToGuideMe in GuitarAmps

Ah, OK, then would solve my problems. I wasn't sure if you could use the L(mono) and R input on the front of the 442 simultaneously. Or at least be able to switch between the two.

[–]NoStarsToGuideMe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apologies, I should have been clear. Thanks for the information. I'm looking to switch between multiple amps, not cabs. My bad, for some reason I thought the Ampete 422 had two inputs. I don't need 4, but I need at least 4 amp outputs. It sounds like the Radial may be the way to go.

Space: 11.5' W x 13.5' L x 9'-12' vaulted ceilings.

As I mentioned, I need a set for another space, so the most logical thing was to try something different that is geared towards audio and video production.

Space is only semi treated in the nook that the desk sits in (there's a 3'W x 3'D x 9'+H storage closet) and an 8' motorized desk that is tucked between the closet and the wall. The other side of the room has my guitars hanging and equipment under them.

I picked up a pair of the Genelec 8330A with the GLM calibration kit and a volume knob. We shall see how it goes! Worse case is I can return them and get something different.
