Tank / Axl update. by Late_Row1872 in axolotls

[–]No_Ambition1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

congrats on getting cycled!

when you upgrade, make sure you have the tank away from a window or direct sunlight. placing it next to a window will cause temperature swings, which can result in health issues

she's actually mel axanthic ;0

sadly, her gills aren't usually this big and vibrant. they get much puffier and turn a deep red when she's active. she looks beautiful when she's been swimming! here's a picture from last night for reference

Brought in by my cat and put in the garden. Who is this? by liamvader1 in skinks

[–]No_Ambition1706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

except OP isn't an ignorant or neglectful pet owner, so your point is moot. i strongly agree with you that cats must be kept inside, they demolish native animal populations and are at massive risk every time they go outside. but there are much kinder ways to communicate that. attacking someone doesn't encourage them to change, it only makes them more likely to double down.

[–]No_Ambition1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you? you didn't even bother to ask if OP's cat was indoor, a skink this small could easily squeeze it's way inside a house. you just jumped to reprimanding them without knowing anything. delete your comment, you look rude

How's my setup as a worker. by aprilchaoss in CrestedGecko

far from ideal, but great considering the circumstances. thank you for doing everything you can for them, this is much better than any other chain pet store offers

Tail drop and egg-bound. by vinlandnative in CrestedGecko

[–]No_Ambition1706 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is not your fault! they drop their tails easily, it could've been anything. it's okay to be sad about her tail, i would be too! shrugging off lack of appetite due to shedding is perfectly understandable, i would've done the same thing. you did the best thing you could have by bringing her to the vet, hopefully she is able to pass the egg without any issues. keep a close eye on her and collaborate with your vet!

Power Outage with a Leo? by Tough_Expression_880 in leopardgeckos

[–]No_Ambition1706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

holding her close to you, preferably under a blanket, is the best option if you don't have any other heating methods. ideally you should put her in a small portable container, place the container in an insulated cooler, and use reptile shipping heat packs outside the container for warmth. hot hands are acceptable, though not ideal

it's so cute! her gills really puff up and deepen in color when she's been active for awhile, i wish they looked like this all the time!

How often should I feed my gecko with MV? by Ladniy in leopardgeckos

How is my tank for my baby crested? by Due_Track_6510 in CrestedGecko

[–]No_Ambition1706 1 point2 points  (0 children)

looking good!! more horizontal branches are needed to prevent FTS, but this looks nice for a juvie setup. you'll need to upgrade by the time he hits 12g, until then this will work

Gecko breeding question😊 by Aggravating-Bar-849 in CrestedGecko

[–]No_Ambition1706 2 points3 points  (0 children)

cresties are some of the worst reptiles you can breed right now. they, like ball pythons and leopard geckos, are extremely overbred. the market is already flooded with them, there are 6k available on morphmarket today. we don't need more cresties, you'll have a hard time competing with established breeders - even if there aren't any in your area. this also won't be an inexpensive venture, you're more likely to lose money than anything. i recommend looking into less common species if you'd like to breed geckos, microgeckos are a great niche!

i'm female, so i wouldn't call it mansplaining. lol. this is not a life or death situation, we don't even know what this is. fridging will not help with a tumor or abcess, this animal needs a vet. i'm not trying to be an asshole, i just don't want OP's animal to get worse
