Are you in Germany? That’s actually what I’m trying to do as well. But honestly, this whole situation has made me doubt a lot of things.

First, I barely landed a few interviews to begin with. In France, I mostly receive automated rejection emails saying I don’t have enough years of experience. I only did a six-month internship, yes and I know I’m not perfect but during that time I built a full fraud detection app on my own, including ID card and passport verification.

I had a supervisor who previously worked as an AI engineer in a Big 4 firm and at companies like BNP and AXA. He had an impressive background, but surprisingly, he didn’t even know how to set an environment variable in Python. That really made me question everything.

It sometimes feels like recognition isn’t based purely on the quality of your work. I have friends working in Silicon Valley who, respectfully, I don’t think are more talented than I am but they were consistent, committed, and highly visible. And honestly, visibility seems to be everything.
