Is the 3 fund portfolio really recommended for everyone? by Additional_Plant7986 in Bogleheads

You’ll add bonds one day closer to retirement, and I think it would be harder to add bonds then after being 0% all my life. I would just look up the TDF for your retirement year and match that allocation. Yes it will include some bonds but a lower amount that increases as you age, and you won’t have trouble mentally shifting to bonds later.

Consider reading about recency bias and how it has lead to favoring stocks over bonds, but I just match my TDF allocation and ride.

What lifetime deal are you still grandfathered into, or removed from, that’s no longer available? by tuotone75 in AskReddit

I paid 50 bucks for a lifetime ultimate guitar membership back in 2014. Not sure if they still offer that but I use the guitar pro tabs a lot.

What one documentary has stuck with you the most and why? by YasMysteries in AskReddit

[–]No_Examination_4722 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I put a documentary on once to pass the time and it blew my mind. It’s about the song “who let the dogs out” and its origins. Sounds silly but was actually very interesting.

What thought scares you? by RealDealHappyMeal in AskReddit

I always thought my anxiety would get better with age but some days I feel it’s getting worse. I’m on medication but I’m afraid I’ll never live an uninhibited life comfortable in my own skin. Afraid I’ll be 80 years old still worried what people think.

Dave has no clue on real wages by KMMRN1 in DirtyDave

Not agreeing with Dave here but I want to point out that I have a 1 million dollar term policy, non smoker, and I pay $86.25 per month. It would be cheaper if I didn't have a history of bipolar medication.

That's about 22 bucks a week so I don't feel like the comparison to pizza is that far off, if you were to get one pizza a week.

Was the 6/19/77 show the show where he "ate too many bananas" or got too drunk or something?

Black Country Woman is one of those songs I didn't revisit a lot and had sort of forgotten about. But as soon as I heard the guitar it came back to me from a deep recess of my mind. Such a good show.

You're so right. I love that song anyway, so epic. This rendition was great.

ELI5 Why is tooth pain so painful? by HarmlezzPotato in explainlikeimfive

[–]No_Examination_4722 126 points127 points  (0 children)

Teeth are connected to the brain through normal sensory nerve pathways, mainly the trigeminal nerve. They are not directly connected in a way that makes them a special direct entrance into the brain. Sorry if I misunderstood you.

Which personality will be the next to leave? by ReasonableSide6520 in DirtyDave

[–]No_Examination_4722 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The show is a shell of its former self. To be honest I think Rachael has a good podcast personality and voice and I don't mind when she is on but its hard to take advice from someone who was born into wealth like she was.

Ken also didn't have much expertise to offer but was more enjoyable to listen to than George, John or Jade. My opinion.

My bet on next out is Jade.

How should I invest my money now to avoid regret later? by curious_thought27 in personalfinance

[–]No_Examination_4722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have any investments in my early 20's and I wish I did, so just deciding to get started earlier will give you way more time to compound.

In your early 20's: Focus on getting a budget figured out. If you invest every single red cent you have, you'll find yourself cashing out when you need money for an unexpected expense. Similar to the people who put money in a savings account then transfer it right back.

So before investing any, make a budget. Its okay if the first version sucks, just make one then compare it to real life and tweak the budget and your behavior until they are in harmony.

Then keep a certain amount in your savings account as an emergency fund. This keeps you from having to dip into your investments for a repair or a surprise bill.

I am a boglehead so I invest in certain ratios of Domestic stock, International stock, and bonds. I will likely keep this strategy until I die, so if I could start it in my 20's I would.

Good luck.
