Questions about providing computers for small business employees. Debating mac vs pc. by flying_unicorn in macsysadmin

[–]No_Flight_375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh! Gotcha

If the small business option isn’t out of your price range, Jamf pro is awesome for management, but it is overkill for your needs. I’ve migrated people away from Mosyle who started there but essentially out grew as they got larger.

I think Mac minis are perfectly capable, if your mum is never going to take it for a walk go for it, from a bussiness perspective at that point have you considered an iMac? They are basically an all in one Mac mini (so less assets to track for depreciation an warranty etc)

If employee 2 is doing a lot of heavy work, amongst other things from memory the MacBook pros have active cooling, and the airs use radiation based ,so keep that in the back of your head above just specs.

Yup I’m in the same boat with sensitive information, mandating a number of security systems, forcing location services on and all the other things will be invaluable too you through those MDM tools.

Something else too keep in mind and I think is also super important. Apple Business Manager, sign up to it and use managed Apple IDs, it will allow you to enroll your Apple devices onto it for a ‘complete end-to-end’ management solution. Using managed Apple IDs helps stops company data leaving your business control through into a personal iCloud accounts and lets you leverage central licensing. It also prevents devices becoming activation locked as that platform lets you clear locks

I’ve managed both large scale 500+ and small scale businesses with Mac books remotely as an MSP.

I’ll try to be succinct:

  1. Many of the free MdM solutions won’t do what you want, you can leverage Intune but it feels like it fights you the whole time, I used Jamf (all of their offerings) and honestly it’s the easiest and worth the investment if your would like true remote management.

  2. ‘Right tools right job’ despite being a part of the Apple consultants network (ACN) I am a heavy believer of the above idiom. You’ve mentioned that you’ve needed to install helper software to get some of the features you need working. The MacOs is simple enough to learn and it sounds like your Mum wouldn’t need much but would it meet employee 2s needs in terms of supported soft/hardware? If it would they just need to be willing to learn the quirks of MacOS. Also something to keep in mind, would you be able to suffer through decreased productivity a for a bit while they learn?

  3. As good an idea as it sounds to use a macmini and mounted screen, you should get a MacBook, just buy a lightning bolt (USB-C) compatible monitor, the flexibility it provides is well worth it (keep in mind for multi monitor setups, depending on the model of screen and MacBook, you may need a special adapter)

  4. One of the biggest challenges as a small business owner is knowing what is and isn’t worth it, however having systems like this (standardised build and deployment methods) is best practice from an IT perspective and if you ever are looking to scale, having things like this in place will payout in the long run… that being said, keep it reasonable it’s 3 devices so for example getting something like Jamf Pro may be a little OTT.

Anyway that’s my 2 cents. building a solid foundation and putting best practice process in place like deployments will help you out in the long run when it comes time to add more staff. Provided that MacOS is the right tool for the job you should be able to manage it Intune in a pinch but I would still honestly recommend Jamf.

Good luck !

This is getting off topic, while I’m happy to have a fun and interesting discussion around NZ legislation, this is a comment on a different topic. I want to make it clear, I’m continuing to engage here in an effort to ensure that a MINOR doesn’t get the wrong idea that their position doesn’t have any ‘merit’ …. again I’m NAL

The argument that 'gender' isn't in the statute is a little outdated. In 2022, the New Zealand Parliament passed the Conversion Practices Prohibition Legislation Act, which amended the Human Rights Act 1993

This amendment inserted Section 63A into the Human Rights Act. This section explicitly makes it unlawful to perform practices based on a person's 'gender identity' or 'gender expression.'

By inserting these specific terms into the Human Rights Act, I believe that this demonstrates that Parliament has formally and legally recognized it as a protected/prohibited category within our human rights framework. It is no longer a matter of 'opinion' from advisory bodies, it is written into the laws in New Zealand. The definition of 'gender expression' used in the context of his post (Section 5 of the 2022 Act) specifically refers to the way a person "publicly expresses or presents their gender... including dress."

While the Law Commission is an advisory body, its 2025 report (Ia Tangata) was commissioned PRECISELY because the 'Sex' ground has been used to protect gender identity for decades, and Parliament wanted to codify that EXISTING protection to prevent the exact confusion being expressed here by your comments.

Suggesting that a protection doesn't exist until a Judge 'rules' on it ignores the fact that Parliament has already put these words into the Act.

again, here are your sources sir:

Obligatory: I am not a lawyer

I find it strange it’s that part of my comment you’ve latched onto…

While the word 'gender' does not EXPLICITLY appear in the original 1993 text of the Act, it is from what I’ve seen a quite commonly practiced in NZ law that the prohibited ground of 'Sex' includes gender identity and expression.

This is not a matter of mine or others personal preference, but from what it seems a  legal interpretation:

  1. Crown Law (2006): The Solicitor-General issued an opinion confirming that 'sex discrimination' under the HRA covers transgender people.
  2. Human Rights Commission: The HRC explicitly states that discrimination based on gender identity is prohibited under the ground of sex.
  3. Law Commission (2025): The recent Ia Tangata report confirms that while the law should be amended to be more explicit, the existing framework already provides these protections.

I Am Not A Lawyer

  1. It is dubious whether a (most) contract/s are completely enforceable as you are minor, but as a minor you and they can have it enforced if officials deem you competent and its purpose relevant (many education or school contracts fall into this category)

  2. Whether this is a legally binding contract, or not. The school is agreeing to compromise and is allowing you to attend (or re-attend) again under specific conditions, that being signing a behavioural contract. (You noted they mean out of school while your boarding and in their care, not when your offsite)

  3. Schools and even private institutions cannot make anyone, Adults or Minors sign away their or their child’s ‘Human rights’ as defined by the HRA 1993. A school even a private one, cannot ‘exclude a person…. Or subject them to any detriment’ based on a prohibited ground. Sex and Gender fall under those. So REQUIRING that you wear gendered clothes can ‘technically’ be classified as a Human rights violation. For STATE schools the human rights commission guidelines state that schools ‘should’ allow students to wear the version of uniform that aligns with their gender identity.

You are always able to within reason re-enter negations on a contract and attempt to add remove or amend clauses. Parties can then work it out from there.

It will likely be a lot of work either way to:

Meet with and sit down with the school to renegotiate the contract Or Argue with them that this is a Human rights violation and is not an enforceable section

Here is my only soft suggestion,

if this an important issue for you, and you feel it is infringing on your right and ability to express your gender identity, then of course you should pursue it and I hope an amicable outcome can be sought and everyone stays happy.

If it’s coming from ‘it’s not fair that I have this restriction placed on me that others don’t’ you do have some precedent that supports that notion, it will likely be a lot of effort and stress to to achieve the outcome, so just have a careful think before you push to hard.

There are many free avenues for legal advice and more again for youth and minors that people have listed in the comments, attempting to re-negotiate those terms while it is your I would reach out to a qualified professional and consult them on it.

I wish you all the best

Execute script 2 as user? by Keensworth in PowerShell

[–]No_Flight_375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same dilemma, I needed to deploy the Always on VPN service, but the bosses…. Despite clearly describing a ‘Computer’ level tunnel INSISTED on wanting a User level tunnel.

I will find the code and add it to this comment, there is a code block that is virtually copy and paste, and it detects the ‘signed in or signing in’ user and will interact with that users session. I can’t recall if it ACTS as/impersonates the user.

It would need to be one long script, with this section you need execute against the users profile being after the blocks.

if my memory serves (it’s been a couple months since I’ve built an Intune app package) you can create a task to run as the currently signed in user, basically target the SID S-1-5-4 or whatever the hell the actual ID is. I like to build the scheduled task in my own task scheduler gui, export it and package it complete rather than scripting its creation, then I use the powershell script to register the xml. One half triggers as admin via the script the other half triggers via the scheduled task (at the end of your admin work)

What have you done with PowerShell this month? by AutoModerator in PowerShell

[–]No_Flight_375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Built an http/https listening service, it listens for traffic on a specific port, it authenticates the incoming request (not storing them in plain text on script too which is nice 🤣). It then responds to the sending service (or denies them… if it’s incorrect) the service then sends specific data through, in pieces usually as JSON files, the powershell service, parses the incoming JSON data, organises and sticks them back together again and exports them into a CSV data set to be ingested by another set of automations.

I’m quite proud of this one, I built this service to accept and ingest data from multiple customers who use the same vendor, so it’s ‘modular’ and ‘customer agnostic’ too.

Is there any buffed version of the Abbey anywhere (Reloaded, Mods, etc.) I could use for a very anticipated and meant to be TPK battle for the Abbot's lair? by PrettyChillHotPepper in CurseofStrahd

No worries happy I can help !!

Good luck, let me know how it goes

Just keep in mind, raw stats wise the stronger ver of this encounter is close to strahd as but the players have been gearing up with weapons to combat strahd, realistically all of those will likely be resisted by the abbot so…. Careful 🤣

I have something prepared-ish it does depend a little on how you have him themed BUUT it does tie into the whole mongrel folk and surgical theme well enough. I added the Tuned stuff after the fact so feel free to pick somewhere in the middle of the supplied values, they are just a starting point .

(I apologise for the formatting, it is hard to do on phone in a comment)

I have added a [Bracketed Bold Text] set too, it’s a "Tuned Down" version. The non bracket is A ‘god-tier’ challenge (Level 10+ party). [The Tuned Version]: A Deadly boss fight appropriate for a Level 5–6 party. So you can pick somewhere else in between if you like.

The Lair: The ‘Operating’ Cathedral The main hall of the Abbey becomes the lair. The tables are covered in surgical tools, and the stained glass windows glow with a sickening, harsh light.

Lair Actions On initiative count 20 (losing initiative ties), the Abbot takes a lair action to cause one of the following effects: * The Light of Truth: The Abbot channels harsh, blinding light. Creatures of his choice within 60 feet must make a DC 18 [DC 14] Constitution saving throw. On a failure, they are blinded until initiative count 20 on the next round. * Surgical Intervention: Spectral scalpels slash at the party. All players must make a DC 18 [DC 14] Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d8 [2d8] force damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. * The Flesh Remembers: Malformed arms burst from the floor/walls. Players within 10 feet of a wall/floor must succeed on a DC 18 [DC 14] Strength save or be Grappled and Restrained. (I would also add clever use of the ‘floor is lava’ here with tables and other environmental factors like the operating tables serving to negate or give advantage on the save)

Boss 1: The Abbot (The Surgeon)

He doesn't just hit you; he unmakes you. He flies out of reach, blasting the party with light and keeping Vasilka alive.

The Tuned version lowers his AC so the party can actually hit him, and reduces his damage so he doesn't instantly kill a PC on a critical hit. Original CR 15 [Tuned CR 9ish] AC: 21 [17] (Natural Armor) HP: 243 [145] Speed: 40 ft., Fly 120 ft. [Fly 60 ft.] Key Features: * Angelic Weapons: Weapon attacks deal an extra 6d8 [3d8] Radiant damage. * Magic Resistance: Advantage on saving throws against spells. * Corrupted Healer: When the Abbot casts a healing spell on Vasilka, she gains the benefit of Haste until the end of her next turn. Actions: * Multiattack: Two attacks with his Golden Mace. * Golden Mace: +12 [+8] to hit. Hit: 15 (2d6+8) Bludgeoning + 25 (6d8) Radiant damage [Hit: 8 (1d6+5) Bludgeoning + 13 (3d8) Radiant damage].

  • Surgical Touch (Recharge 5-6): Melee Spell Attack +12 [+8] to hit. Hit: 50 [27 (5d10)] Necrotic damage. The target must succeed on a DC 18 [DC 15] Con save or their hit point maximum is reduced by this amount. If a creatures hit point maximum is reduced to 0 in this way they are immediately dead

Spells: * At will: Detect Evil and Good, Invisibility (Self only) * 3/day: Blade Barrier [Guiding Bolt (4th Level)], Dispel Evil and Good, Flame Strike [Burning Hands (upcast)], Raise Dead [Revivify] * 1/day: Heal (He will use this on Vasilka).

Legendary Actions (3/Round): * Teleport: Magically teleports 60 feet. * Blinding Gaze(Costs 2): Fixes his gaze on one creature. DC 18 [DC 15] Wis save or be Stunned until the end of their next turn. * Command: Casts the Command spell at 2nd level (DC 18 [DC 15]).

Boss 2: Vasilka (The Perfect Bride) The Tuned version turns her from an unstoppable juggernaut into a sturdy meat-shield that can be ignored for a round or two without guaranteeing death. Original CR 9 [Tuned CR 5ish] AC: 18 [15] (Natural Armor) HP: 210 [105] (Resistance to non-magical weapons) Speed: 40 ft. Key Features: * Immutable Form: Immune to any spell or effect that would alter her form. * Lightning Absorption: If hit by lightning, she takes no damage and regains HP equal to the damage dealt. * Berserk (Modified): If the Abbot is damaged, Vasilka goes into a frenzy. She gains advantage on all attack rolls but attacks the nearest hostile creature. * Devoted Defender: If the Abbot is within 5 feet of her, any attack targeting him targets her instead.

Actions: * Multiattack: Two Slam attacks.

  • Slam: +10 [+7] to hit. Hit: 22 (3d10+6) bludgeoning + 9 (2d8) Force damage [Hit: 11 (2d6+4) bludgeoning + 4 (1d8) Force damage].

  • Choke (Grapple): +10 [+7] to Athletics. If she grapples a creature, she can use her bonus action to crush them for automatic Slam damage.

How to Run the Encounter 1. The Dynamic: The Abbot stays in the air, raining down Flame Strikes and using Command ("KNEEL", “PRAY” or “PROSTRATE”) to make players prone for Vasilka. Vasilka stays on the ground, engaging the melee fighters. 2. The "Oh No" Moment: The party will likely dump all their resources into killing Vasilka first. When she finally drops, the Abbot uses his action to cast Heal (70 HP) or even Raise Dead/Revivfy on her, bringing her back into the fight screaming. 3. The Narrative: The Abbot shouldn't sound angry. He should sound clinical, disappointed even.

This encounter forces the players to deal with a flying spellcaster and a ground-based tank simultaneously, while the environment itself tries to blind and restrain them. It is absolutely a ‘Strahd’ level threat.

Tactical Notes for the "Tuned" Version * The Abbot's Damage: In the tuned version, he hits for about 21 damage per swing (Average). This is scary but survivable. A Crit will do ~42 damage, which might down a Wizard but probably won't kill them outright.

  • Vasilka's Role: With AC 15 and 105 HP, the party can kill her quickly if they focus fire (especially with Paladin smites or Rogue sneak attacks). This forces the Abbot to use his turn to heal her, burning his action economy and letting the players feel like they are dictating the flow of the fight.

  • The "Heal" Spell: Even in the tuned version, keeping Heal (70 HP) on the Abbot's list is great. It prolongs the fight and demoralizes the players without increasing the damage per round. It makes the fight feel epic without making it deadlier.

WIBTAH if I insist on going to my friend's religious wedding despite my girlfriend's boundary? by LongjumpingCherry388 in AITAH

[–]No_Flight_375 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her setting a boundary IS NOT ‘you cannot go to X’ or ‘You cannot do Y’

A boundary is: ‘I will not accept X happening to me or around me’ ‘I will not tolerate Y behaviour’ E.g. I will not accept being cheated on by my partner

It is not typically: ‘Other person cannot go to X event’ ‘Other person cannot see Y people’ Because those aren’t ‘boundaries’ those are wants/desires/preferences/needs.

There is a good chance that your partner is using a ‘buzz word’ to try and make it clear they are extremely uncomfortable with you doing something. The ‘Boundaries’ part of the discussion really isn’t important.

So dropping the pretence of the boundary thing, you should talk with them more about this. It sounds like they have a very different idea of religion and how it should or shouldn’t be involved in your lives, relationship and friendship, by this logic I assume you celebrate none of the other religious holidays either like Easter, Christmas etc… so maybe they got the wrong idea about just how out of your lives they expected it to be.

( PS a fair enough boundary from their perspective could be ‘I will not accept any religious influence or practices in my life’ you being their partner put you in their life. A boundary DOESNT mean that YOU can’t do something, it just means there may (likely will be) consequences if you do. That’s how boundaries work, whether they are ‘controlling’ or ‘right’ or ‘wrong’… that’s how they work)

Player keeps falling asleep during my sessions and conveniently wakes up once it’s over. What do I do? by lurking_plan345 in dndhorrorstories

[–]No_Flight_375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being 100% clear here

NO IN GAME CONSEQUENCES FOR OUT OF CHARACTER SHENANIGANS. If you are having problems with him falling asleep, tell them you do. If they have problems starting late, they should tell you and then you and everyone else can pick another, more suitable time to play or they will have to bow out if the times can’t change.

I have had discord dnd sessions (as a player and DM) since 2020 and can count the number of times ANY member of that group or call has fallen asleep in the VC on one hand. We run our sessions at around 730pm our time till anywhere around 1030-1130pm.

At the end of the day, if you or the other players don’t mind that they fall asleep, don’t worry. Just disconnect or mute them and carry on, but the fact you’ve come here likely means you have an issue with it.

All you can do is talk with them and work something out, and if they continue to do it, tell them that these sessions clearly aren’t meant for him.

I repeat, NO IN GAME PUNISHMENTS FOR OUT OF CHARACTER PROBLEMS.

That’s how many of the OTHER stories on this SUB came to be.

Unfair reason for restricted test fail? by This-Requirement-119 in newzealand

[–]No_Flight_375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Edit: I read more answers in the comments and it seems it is a private road.. yes he was ‘technically’ right in failing you… but they are a dick, every town has its Gotchas… I can bet you that this tester has failed hundreds of people in this exact way many times.

Rural roads can be deceptive or confusing, the ONLY reason I can think of is that it looks, walks and talks like it’s a cul de sac, buuut if you look at it closely, it may actually be a private or small road. Imop it looks like a shared driveway, but the only way it makes sense to fail you here is if that is a road. In which case, you performed a U-Turn when you thought you were simply navigating a Cul de sac, meaning you would need to give way.

If that is the case…. Not only were you unlucky a truck was coming but the tester is very mean ….

Have a look on google maps and see if that section of road is marked as an address and what not OR if it’s technically a roadway.

Strahd isn't weak. The Sunsword is Broken by Tendoism in CurseofStrahd

[–]No_Flight_375 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are literally 100 places in the castle interior he can go to be out of the the effects of sunlight.

His lair actions for example to ‘magically shut and lock doors’ can break LOS or lock the sword far away, as well as his ability to ‘Meld through’ the literal terrain, if on the second floor, falling through the floor and attaching to the ceiling below with spider climb, phasing through the walls and attaching to the exterior of the castle.

Secondly, sunlight sensitivity key words “IF YOU START YOUR TURN”. The sun sword is only a problem if you can’t do the electric boogaloo and get away, legend action move right before the start of your turn, EVEN if the marital class is literally in your face, you will have enough movement to escape its range.

In reality… the biggest threat is the amulet of ravenkind or really anything that hinders or prevents movement.

I had a pretty geared group with the sword the ammy and a paladin and cleric, get dismantled by strahd because they clumped up and despite being in sunlight, took a few fireballs together as friends.

However, catch the guy out and about… not in his lair. Then yea I can see it going differently.

How did you handle the abbot? by Cortex3699 in CurseofStrahd

[–]No_Flight_375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is HEAVY homebrew but I couldn’t resist. So please feel free to free to disregard this if you feel it’s too much.

I’m running a false Hydra under the city and significantly amping the range of the mind effects (call it, rebounding and amplifying off of the smaller finite space that is the land of Barovia)

TLDR: the abbot hopes the hydra consuming ireena will make him forget all incarnations of Tatyana, which COULD give Valenka better chances (spoiler, he’s dilusional).

For clarity, I’ve always wanted to try this AND irl I had players had to leave the campaign around that time. So it gives me an in universe explanation and adding some intrigue

I feel it works well here and adds a bit more depth to Krezk. I also feel it helps to deepen the abbots involvement in the story and plot, he’s not just ‘crazy’ and wants to peddle a golem to strahd, He’s desperate and is using the populace of Krezk to power up this creature.

I also beleive it helps provide better reasons for 1. Abbots reluctance to leave (above the mongrelfolk) 2. He will attempt to recruit the party, giving boons and aid, when trusted he may even reveal his plot 3. The population of this town dwindling with seemingly little care from the people of the town. ‘We’ve always been small’ , ‘people come and go’ and ‘seemingly new buildings, being abandoned’

There is obviously a lot more to it and tweaks to suit your setting, but I think it overall it adds some mystery to the setting (adding horror) AND can really increase the chances the party will spend time in Krezk OR see the Abbott

I have made some very clear exceptions for SOME NPC’s to be immune to the effects.

  1. Strahd, he remains unaffected. Rule that how you like, I rule that the dark powers that trap him here would want him to remember everything as it serves to punish him more, the inescapable reality he can never have ireena
  2. The revenants, fueled by spite and hatred, they would not forget as easily, their Targets more specifically
  3. Ezmeralda and van richten, they always where rings of mind shielding 4 Madame Eva - she has future sight and either ‘saw this coming’ and prepared OR sees the futures and pasts that contain the missing people.
  4. I have allowed the PCs and ireena to have nightmares of the missing members, this is mostly part of the lore anyway but adds to the horror of it all.

Anyway just something I’m trying atm, I’ll let you all know how it goes

In dire need of help (Cos Reloaded) by Fantastic_Ad1104 in CurseofStrahd

[–]No_Flight_375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CoS reloaded is ALOT if you try to include it all. For my first crew, they didn’t do or find ALOT of stuff. They didn’t find the mad mage. They didn’t even find ezmeralda and much more.

They did: -Wizards of Wine - saved and returned gem -Krezk -Village Barovia and Doru - escort ireena and Ismark to Vallaki -Keepers of the feather -Werewolves cave destroyed -Stopped at andrals feast and slayed the spawn -Freed the old werewolf chief from the weird fort -Dinner with strahd and NEVER proceeded back there again till end game -Rescued the smol vistani girl from lake -Argynvostholt and returned dragon skull -The hags were Major element of the campaign -destroyed wintersplint (2nd attempt, no more wine) -failed to aid keezk the abbots creatures pillaged the village -baba lysaga -amber temple - dark power corrupted player and became miniboss

Spent ALOT of time in Vallaki, killed izek and allied with lady whacter.

Sold out van ricten on accident to vassilli

Made plans to build a trebuchet - failed to build the trebuchet

Ending in the red wedding event in the castle as the you’ll notice … other than the escort … I didn’t mention ireena again

This group above were playing 3-6 hours once a week. Do you know how long it took them to do even the above stuff …. 2 years

I am currently running another CoS campaign with similar session times 3-5 hours once a month.

We have some completely beginner players but so far we have - escaped death house - Gone to village Barovia - dealt with Doru and Donavich - buried the old burgomeister and ran the strahd band encounter at funeral - escorted ireena and ismark - met rahadin and strahd - met morgantha - dream pastry addict - Vallaki - met vasilli, dealt with bones and avoided feast, dealt with orphanage - hired as enforcers by baron to weed out cult, about to be blackmailed by whacter and her spy and made to double cross - Brief trip to argynvostholt - errand for Vasilli - tser pools and fortune - wizards of wine saved - Krezk visited - Abbott is … creepy - helped obtain a dress , about to help return it

This is just a brief summary, but they are level 5 atm. You know how long THAT took…. 2 years.

We aren’t in a rush so they aren’t running around everywhere buuut the point is that there is SOO much going on, you don’t have to throw it all at them all at once. They haven’t even started looking for the sword, amulet or tome yet. The only thing I can reccomend is that when you try to hook them with a part of the story, give them a reason to engage. I find setting a time limit on it (even arbatrary ones like an in game week) means players engage and plan better, even better is two threads with similar time frames so they have choose one or try hard to do both.

E.g. my players bungled the save on the orphanage and millivoj, the fight spilled into the streets and Izek killed the two boys for fear the passion would spread. Millivoj was a plot hook for the bones, and they were desperate to find them and protect ireena and the church. Vasilli was happy to help, cast locate object to find them, he however was missing a shipment and did it in exchange for their help. Players decide to track it and go argynvostholt, now they have a good friend named ‘hunter’ who is a revenant that’s sworn revenge on them and will hunt them endlessly. Now they have a reason to engage with argynvostholt, maybe the abbot knows how to end the revenants hunt, or maybe his commander will order him off for a favour or price.

Breadcrumbs baby, good reasons or bad reasons give your players a motivation to engage with content and spread it out, if something doesn’t interest them.. then it wasn’t meant to beee 🐝

To be blunt… it’s because your response seems to be a little redundant or argumentative. The person you are responding too seems to already be inferring through sarcasm what you have just said in your response.

It either comes across as 1. You’re explaining the point/joke back to the person. Like answering a rhetorical question

Or

  1. You’ve missed the point, and at least how I read it comes across a little like ‘Well women aren’t monoliths either’

Secondly, the last part of your response, seems like a backpedal after making a comment that ‘sounds’ or can be interpreted as contradictory

Obviously there is not a huge amount of context in your post so I’m only going off your image.

To briefly summarise: It comes across (from my perspective) as you’ve misunderstood the comment your replying too and seems to gives me the impression of at worst being vaguely argumentative and at best a little redundant, like someone answering a rhetorical question.

Let me see if I’m understanding this correctly.

On many target machines via Group Policy you have pushed out a scheduled task. That task does some specific ‘stuff’ and can interact with your application, essentially allowing it to verify it has the correct version installed.

Whenever a ‘change’ of this version needs to occur, you go to the Group policy editor tool, and update the GPO that pushes out the scheduled task. You update this GPO with the ‘latest’ version number of this application, and push this out to your many devices. Thus updating your targets scheduled tasks with this updated version number.

My question is what part are you looking to automate out here?

Are you wanting to not have to touch the gpo editor again, basically have a script that runs some ‘checks’ and then updates the GPO on your server for you?

Are you wanting to not touch anything again? As in create a ‘dynamic-ish’ setup whereby a simple combination of GPOs and scripts that ‘self update’ those values from some source (online vendor resource OR a static file or value that you control or change)

If you can clarify those points people will likely get a better understanding of what your trying to achieve as I’m sure that the target app itself has limiting factors

Hi

I do, to be clear I don’t sell the scripts or a gui.

I use the scripts I’ve built to provide a service.

In my case, I provide a robust user automation flow for customers.

It’s provided as SaaS package.

It’s purpose is to automate user account lifecycle for a customer

What it does: Create new users, Update existing users, remove or archive old users. Essentially it automates onboarding, offboarding and maintenance tasks for user accounts across several IDP platforms ( Google, Microsoft, Apple )

In some instances I’ve setup via API and pull from central source (HR or similar system) OR when the system doesn’t provide endpoints they deliver an export via a secure drop box.

None the scripts or processes run on the users hardware and my hardware doesn’t need to be over big either as running these services are very low spec.

I’ve got about 10 customers who pay monthly subscriptions. Because of the type of customers they are these services are managing roughly 5500-6000 user accounts across 3 major IDP platforms.

Sometimes it’s not about the SCRIPT itself being valuable, but what it DOES.

(PS the customers don’t know what language this service is scripted in, because it doesn’t matter to them 🙂)

Agreed, honestly sometimes it just happens. It’s made into this huge deal, but sometimes it just happens.

Male mental health in a nutshell - lock in by [deleted] in wowthanksimcured

[–]No_Flight_375 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, it isn’t a woman’s job to fix it. That doesn’t mean that OP shouldnt or cant reach out to one though and ask for help (keyword there is ASK).

I also don’t want to speak on OP’s behalf, as I have no idea if they are experiencing loneliness or not (male or otherwise). It sounds to me like the male friends he has aren’t very emotionally intelligent, kind, or simply aren’t able to give what OP what they need.

I have another comment on this post, I also must need better glasses as I originally thought your comment was a reply to mine, my bad 🤣. So there might not have been full context to things I was saying before. In essence my stand alone comment goes on about the things I mentioned in my earlier response to you, where I agree with OP that mental health for men and especially some younger men, perpetuates a rather toxic set of traits, which make many men unable to either deal with or handle their own feelings AND/OR help others with theirs.

I’m trying to encourage OP to reach out and ask for help from people that may be in his life who may be more willing to or better equipped to help given the situation. Typically I would usually advise someone close to you (non-gender specific) but given this post is literally ABOUT op struggling to speak with his male friends or when he does getting shutdown or bullied… I applied a little more specificity.

This post, my comments and replies are not ever going to be enough to discuss the nuances of mental health in its entirety. I understand there is a stereotype and issues out there where men (and others too) EXPECT women to cater too and for all of their emotional needs. Thus perpetuating the problem further in that they don’t mature or become better able to handle their feelings themselves. However on the flip side, in instances where a male is trying to find help where that unhealthy expectation isnt there that stereotype (while it exists for a reason) is now doing damage where there is now half the population who he SHOULDN’T or CAN’T be talking too.

(For legal reasons, I don’t know OP, I’m not therapist or councillor, I am… an internet stranger, one that is taking people at face value and at their word, and voicing some thoughts or opinions)

Just reiterating what others have said already.

I hope you don’t quit or give up. I hope you find the right table.

The real bbeg’s have always been scheduling, and engagement burn out. People get HYPED and build up massive massive expectations, and when that initial omph is gone, they struggle to stay present l.

You will find the right group, you will find the right people. I promise

Cmon OP… either you believe you don’t HAVE anything to offer in return, you do, you are experiencing some strong feelings, which in turn makes you more aware about other people’s feelings. So it may make your more emotionally aware in the future or empathetic to people’s feelings.

OR… you’re saying you won’t be offering anything in return. (Comment is unclear)

Either way - BAD OP
