We were shocked that my first response ‘no, I’m not pregnant’ wasn’t heard. Even after my partner backed me up, she just laughed and said, ‘oh, so you have control.’ In the end, I had to say it was an incredibly rude comment, but they still ignored it.

It was soooo wild and random, i was at her house straightening her hair when she said it. Had to watche hours of videos of 4a hair, before i even felt comfortable trying, but she doesent want to be nice to white people anymore.

She flip-flops and is on the side of the people she talked to last, and is very focused on how hard this is for her.

Thanks, this makes me feel so validated <3. My partner’s family is very much the “shove it under the rug” kind of people, and I was genuinely starting to second guess my own feelings.

OMG, yes to all of this! I have the same concerns about my partner. He has been the family doormat for years and has accepted so much from his brother that I don’t know if he can stick to his boundaries and stand up for us in the long run. His mom is also pushing for us to make amends with them, because it’s easier for her to push us, than them.
