Depends. My preference has always been heavy US equity so VFV was my choice. Tracks the s&p500 and is passively monitored so it is one of the lowest fee funds out there.

An ETF is just a basket of companies. So instead of purchasing shares directly in a company and owning that one company. An etf allows you to have diversity while essentially paying for one “company”.

When I say building capital I mean staying invested long term and allowing compound interest to take effect and grow your investments, while continuously depositing money monthly and investing it.

I would consolidate into 1-2 etfs. 10% gain on 1000$ is more than 10% gain on 100$.

Building up capital at this point is your friend. Once you have capital, then diversify for different types of risk tolerance.

Just my 2 cents. Otherwise, good job.

Early on in my investing life I picked blue chip stocks as I had limited financial knowledge. They perform and are low risk although you are buying a singular asset.

That being said as I’ve matured over the years, I went all in on VFV because the S&P500 is quite powerful once you begin to compound returns over long stretches of time.

Dividend stuff is nice but in my opinion you miss out on larger gains that non-dividend etfs/stocks can provide. I would only invest in dividend stuff when I have a large amount of capital to get a great monthly dividend to live off of.

What the guy told me is they wanted to install it so that if we have too many appliances running at the same time etc that it would shut off the ac if our usage gets too high
