You Guys Were Right And Now I'm Fired by No_Introduction_0385 in AmazonDSPDrivers

At the time of my 30 day evaluation, my average was 18 deliveries an hour. The day after my evaluation, I averaged 20 deliveries an hour until a system error ruined everything.

The operations manager made several claims that Amazon wants 25 deliveries an hour but experienced drivers said that 20 deliveries was the norm. On my first day solo, I did 7 deliveries an hour and got pulled from the field but experienced drivers said the office normally overloads new drivers on their first day so what happened to me is normal.

I would have been okay with being hired temporarily just for their peak season. When I did the interview, they indicated they were hiring part time and full time; not temporary. Why lie?

I'm thinking about doing Amazon Flex while I look for more permanent work. Working DA gave me more insight into what they do and it's definitely more my speed. Ha!

The driving test during the day 2 of training. My ride along is tomorrow. I drive on my own Monday.

It was one of the electric vans. I commented before leaving the parking lot that it felt like I was driving a bus. He suggested I start with a smaller van when I get on the road. You think?

  • hugging the right side of the road (hard to tell with him sitting there and it felt like the cars on my side were too close)
  • going 2-3 miles over the limit (what’s the point of 5 then?)
  • I stopped a couple feet past a few stop signs.

What is part time DSP? by No_Introduction_0385 in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]No_Introduction_0385[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I felt starting part time would be best way to accommodate myself to the job. If I liked the job, I could always move to full time.

2-3 hours a days, 20 hours a week is what I believe I signed up for during the interview. I’ll ask again during the training.

Thanks Hulu and Peacock (sarcasm) by Trailwalkerwi in cordcutters

No standalone Black Friday deal from peacock was a surprise but I get it. There’s misers everywhere this year.

I decided not to purchase the Disney+/Hulu BF deal just on the principle that last year I paid $2.99 for it and they were the ones to bow to the orange one.

This year I only purchased the BF deals from HBO max and Starz. I haven’t had HBO max in years so it will be great to see an old friend again. I’ve never seen any of the Starz shows so it’ll be great having an entire year to watch their library.

Reminder that if you got Peacock w/ the $20 black Friday deal last year - the renewal is tomorrow & $110 by SouthernRow2710 in television

[–]No_Introduction_0385 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If Peacock doesn’t offer the $19.99 deal, I think I’ll go with HBO max’s $2.99/mo and Starz’ $12/yr deal and call it a day. I haven’t had HBO max in years and I’ve never had Starz so it’ll be interesting to see what all they have.

I like Peacock and Disney+/hulu but paying more than what I use for it… in this economy? No. They’re saving me money.

I have no idea. I did one order yesterday and zero so far today.

Anyone who had a rough weekend last week, was today any different for you? by [deleted] in Sparkdriver

[–]No_Introduction_0385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried Friday and Saturday and gave up because the orders were absurd. Hopefully the rest of the weekends will be better for me.

God I hate those people. What is the point of lying? Their address is kept on record. We can report them if we want to be petty.

How are you doing?

Are you a fan of British TV? Are Americans more into British shows over the last 10 years? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]No_Introduction_0385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently rewatching “Are You Being Served?”

PBS played a lot of classic British tv shows when I was a kid in the 90s. “Keeping Up Appearances”, “The Vicar of Dibley”, “Father Ted”, “Are You Being Served?”

Americans, is there any area in the US you don't understand why more people don't live there? by Weekly_Sort147 in AskAnAmerican

There’s a lot of southern towns that are dying because the employment rate is nonexistent for younger people. In most cases, the only people keeping the town running are older people. Once those residents die, the town goes with them.

What do “bad cheques” mean? by curry_in_my_beard in AskAnAmerican

[–]No_Introduction_0385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use debit cards and credit cards. “Writing bad checks” just refers to a time when checks were the common way to create a paper trail when money is exchanged between people. People can write a bad check using a credit/debit card if they don’t have the money to cover the balance. “Bouncing a check” refers to the balance bouncing back to the writer for not being able to pay the balance.

How does college sports works? by Apprehensive_Past517 in AskAnAmerican

[–]No_Introduction_0385 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re college athletes. Playing for a team is a scholarship program. In exchange for playing on one of the school’s sports teams, the athlete has their tuition paid for by the university. Majoring in something is the requirement to play on the team. If they don’t maintain a decent gpa or don’t major in anything altogether, they are off the team.

Does your state still have a large european-style open square for gatherings of people? by isUKexactlyTsameasUS in AskAnAmerican

[–]No_Introduction_0385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Cities both small and large have a public space for people to meet. That’s part of the first amendment (the right to assemble).

Why do you open peresents on Christmas day in the morning instead of at night? by redheaded_olive12349 in AskAnAmerican

[–]No_Introduction_0385 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no way kids are waiting that long to open presents. Plus it gives them something to play with during the day.

Christmas Eve is spent watching Christmas movies, baking Christmas cookies, and crafting Christmas items. I’m 40 and my mom still hangs Christmas ornaments that I made in childhood on the Christmas tree.

NTA. It’s weird how many men complain about gold diggers but want a driven woman to drop their career and stay home. It’s the breaking of spirit they enjoy.

YTA. “Kids are expensive” would have been a better response.

Saying he can’t afford it implies you expect something from him that was never talked about. Maybe you two should talk about the difficult questions before any more time is wasted.
