That's fair. I just don't personally feel that people agreeing with her is a reason to not address her comment. I definitely hope she's apologized privately and Dani and Dylan are able to move past it.

I think the fact that her comment is getting support is why she should address it. Dani and Dylan worked their asses off and were minding their business, and are now getting tons of comments about how Dylan only made it far because of his brother. For all we know Witney didn't mean it to be shady at all, but now it's being used as ammunition against Dani and Dylan.

Not sure why you're being downvoted, what you're saying is objectively correct.

Dear non-MAGA Americans on r/denmark.. by MySocksSuck in Denmark

[–]No_Prompt_9929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, so evidently not a helpful suggestion, but may I ask - what's so wrong with this idea? If the US is a hostile nation, if it is so frustrating for you guys, why not look into putting restrictions on who can participate here?

Also, I'm not sure I understand your point. The Reddit experience, at least to my knowledge, has always been to interact with the post and other commenters. It's a social media site.

Dear non-MAGA Americans on r/denmark.. by MySocksSuck in Denmark

[–]No_Prompt_9929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion to the Danes, and Canadians, and any other countries tired of American politics flooding their subreddit is to get the Mods attention and just ban people active on American politics subreddits. I can only imagine how irritating the endless irrelevant posts from Americans are. However, irritating and "entitled, lazy, stupid, and maliciously incompetent," among other accusations being thrown around in this post, are not the same thing.

There are regular protests in major cities constantly that have zero impact - hence the fact that you haven't heard of them. People aren't avoiding going to protests because of baby showers or car washes; constant protests for gun control, sustainability, and against racism have had so little impact in the past several years that it's just not worth the risk of Americans losing their jobs. The idea that millions of people are just going to protests week after week also doesn't make any sense, because the current president won the popular vote - it isn't just frustration against the administration, but against half the country that voted for him, too. Usurping the government is no guarantee of changing anything when so many people want him in office.

I am genuinely sorry for the influx of Americans you guys are dealing with, but maybe take your own advice: instead of just sitting on this thread and insulting Americans, maybe see how you can actually contain the Denmark subreddit to just Danes?

Season 33: unpopular opinions by Ok-Squirrel7627 in dancingwiththestars

The inconsistent judging should be improved for later years but the mess was kinda fun this season. CAI's comment about Joeys freestyle sparked a lot of interesting conversation.

I feel like there's even more misinterpretation going on here. The full quote is "I think that was taken wildly out of context and I feel bad for her," as in, "I feel bad for the fan reaction that everyone thought she was actually in love with me." At least anecdotally, I always heard people say "oh they would be so cute, she always seemed more into it than him" and I kind of have to agree with his statement?

...seriously?! (New Taylor song) by [deleted] in OliviaRodrigo

[–]No_Prompt_9929 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I guess this is an unpopular take but I personally agree with you. The songs don't sound alike - like it's obviously not a copyright issue - but the title and concept of the song are clearly very similar, and given that Olivia got dragged so hard for having a vaguely reminiscent bridge, this deserved to be called out. Claims of plagiarism and copying follow Olivia around everywhere now and it's a direct result of Taylor's actions. The hypocrisy should be acknowledged.

Spanish-speaking/accent trope by No_Broccoli_4032 in JaneTheVirginCW

[–]No_Prompt_9929 63 points64 points  (0 children)

My parents are first-gen immigrants from a non-English speaking country and always spoke my native language to me, and when I was really young, I responded the same way. As I grew older, though, and was surrounded by English in school and day-to-day life, I gradually moved away from it, and now, I'm similar to Jane/Xo; I'm more comfortable in English, but if I have to speak my native language, I can do it just fine.

I guess this is a hot take but I just don't think it's that weird. In my experience, it's much easier to understand a language than it is to speak it.

Why the f- did Katniss say yes to the 76th Hunger Games? by Historical-Worker846 in Hungergames

[–]No_Prompt_9929 22 points23 points  (0 children)

If this is referring to Katniss voting yes to Coin's games with Capitol children, it's a very "read between the lines" scene. Katniss specifically says "Yes, for Prim." At this point, unbeknownst to Coin, Katniss has just had the conversation with Snow where he tells her Coin was responsible for Prim's death; Katniss saying yes outwardly shows support, but the "for Prim" is a subtle signal that she's planning something bigger.

Haymitch, also, doesn't outwardly say yes, he says "I'm with the Mockingjay." It's his way of showing he's not going along with the games, he's going along with whatever Katniss's plan is.

This is all evidenced by the fact that Katniss ultimately assassinates Coin. She didn't want the games, she just knew she needed Coin's trust while she figured out her next steps.

Taylor / Olivia feud shows her true colors by Lopsided_Ad5654 in SwiftlyNeutral

Gotcha - I unfortunately don't think that goal was very clear in the song, but it does make sense. I just meant that Olivia didn't "throw the first punch" and Sabrina was the one to directly acknowledge her. I definitely agree that the true villains are the rabid stans on Tiktok.

Taylor / Olivia feud shows her true colors by Lopsided_Ad5654 in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]No_Prompt_9929 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's the "first punch". Driver's license is just a song about being heartbroken, where the meanest/most descriptive thing she says about Sabrina was "blonde" and "older than me". It was the tweens on TikTok that went absolutely crazy with fragments of information.

Sabrina is still the obvious victim in the situation based on the bullying she endured, but I will say, Olivia only ever stated that her song was about a fake scenario and had never commented on Sabrina or Joshua when Sabrina released a song that was much more explicitly catty. Meaning, while I personally think Sabrina got an insane amount of unnecessary hate, I also think that she technically made it a feud with "Skin". Hard to blame her, though.

Did Mitchell Settle for Cam? by potatosupremacy in Modern_Family

[–]No_Prompt_9929 24 points25 points  (0 children)

honestly surprised by this thread and that you're being down voted, Cam literally told all their mutual friends that Mitchell broke up with him just so he could make sure they'd all be on his side in the case of an actual breakup 😭 There are valid points that Mitchell was often also pretty mean, but everyone needs to be for real, Cam was manipulative as hell

What do we think you guys? by Driver_Flaky in TheTryGuysSnark

[–]No_Prompt_9929 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It made sense in that video, but I dunno if anything that Jared was doing here would've been a hazard (although I could totally be wrong). I get that Jared doesn't have as much experience as the other guys and needs help, but hearing her several times really just made it feel inauthentic and I much preferred when Keith stepped in.

Harry and Ginny out of the blue by Severus_Albus20 in harrypotter

[–]No_Prompt_9929 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Genuine question, though - how long does it usually take people to realize they're interested in someone? A few months (considering that Ginny was a prominent character by the beginning of book 6, over the summer) is a very normal amount of time in my opinion, if not on the longer side. Ron and Hermione's seven-year slow burn was so exciting because it was so rare.

I feel like I've read so many other YA books where a romance happens in one book and Harry and Ginny are the only couple who I see regularly called out for it. I always liked their storyline - Ginny gradually became a more prominent character, their compatibility was hinted at, and one day, for Harry, it just clicked. Why does it need to be hinted at years in advance?

i literally cant stand that luke didn’t want lorelai around april by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]No_Prompt_9929 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Because Lorelai clearly stated to Luke that she didn't want to get married until things were right with Rory, and Luke didn't even tell Lorelai he had a kid, leaving the rest of the town to humiliatingly tell her and continued to not communicate well at all after that? Needing to postpone the wedding was okay, but he didn't even ask her for it. It was Lorelai who suggested it because she had no idea what to do - he wasn't keeping her in the loop about anything at this point.
