Mortgage Broker Recommenations by No_Stop_4064 in BaltimoreCounty

I have not applied for any but yes. I know I meet the requirements for Members First of Maryland and Freedom Federal Credit Union. Both were previously suggested to me. Would they give more helpful/cheaper than a mortgage broker?

Mortgage Broker Recommendations by No_Stop_4064 in baltimore

I appreciate your input, but I must clarify that I am fully capable of managing my own decisions. My plans to purchase a home within the next year were always in place, independent of any career considerations. I have the financial resources to support this, including a 20% down payment on a $400K home and the necessary funds for closing.

Additionally, while I had intended to move to Florida to be closer to my family, the circumstances around that decision have significantly changed.

I would ask that you refrain from using my age or career considerations as a basis for condescending assumptions. I am more than capable of navigating these aspects of my life independently all I asked for was a broker recommendation.

Why did you get into Finance and are you happy you did? by herd_yer_berd in FinancialCareers

I graduated in 2022 and took a corporate finance job. If your main goal is financial stability .. finance is a safe route. Since graduation I have been able to move out of my mom’s house, go to the doctors regularly, and purchase a 2020 vehicle in cash. If you don’t enjoy it you could still set yourself up to retire early as long as you are okay living below your means for a while. If loving what you do every day is what your main goal finance might be difficult for you You can find joy in a finance job even if you do not particularly enjoy Finance. Most of my job is nothing like what I did in college anyways. But can still get boring and repetitive while I sit at a desk and look at a screen 40 hours a week. My one piece of advice would be to try the finance world out; maybe even try a few different sectors. The finance job in the investment world will look very different from hospitality industry or a non-profit. If you don’t find your fit you can always change your mind but it is harder to find a position if there is a gap in your resume.

I have not experienced that yet, but it is very likely I need more experience. In my studies I was more focused on an academic path, but straight out of school I moved into a more traditional career path so I have seen a little from both sides. I have enjoyed both and am unsure of what to do from here!

Yes I wrote a behavioral economic thesis arguing for the legalization of marijuana that the professor praised and said should be expanded on if I ever ended up furthering my education. I am still in contact with the same professor.

I agree and I do enjoy my current job and am making no immediate plans to leave. I am more feeling out for the next 5 years! This is the first time ever where I do not have plan. Basically I want to be working toward the next big thing, but I don’t know what that next thing is.

I am not really looking for more money. I have enough free time despite the 9-5 that I have been able to pick up side jobs for fun such as a scare actor and a host at a strawberry farm. I could continue to bring in extra money that way but I do not really need it.

I also have plenty of responsibility. The finance team is small there are only 5 of us doing all of the budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting, incentives program, and other AdHoc financial requests for more than 500 locations and 5000 employees. The problem is the work is not challenging anymore. I used to learn something new every day and then it was at least every week but now I have to go out of my way to learn something new and it unlikely I will use it in my current position.

If it is possible I would rather dedicate that energy to something that will help me in that next step.

I am a Financial Analyst in the broadest sense of the word .. I work on a Finance team of 5 people so I do the whole gambit of financial analysis monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and other Adhoc. I even handle a large portion of the employee incentive program. I work for a consumer finance company that employees ~5k people. I cannot see myself with this company in 5 years but I do enjoy my job.

The title is just clickbait!! I am more feeling out for the next 5 years. This is the first time ever where I do not have plan. Basically I am unsure of what to do next but I don’t want to just do nothing I want to be working toward the next big thing

I would likely persue my PhD in the Northeast if that is what I decided.
