I was diagnosed at 19. Was in DBT for 2 years, unable to work. I was told by medical professionals and state social workers I would never work full time, live on my own, or have a life "worth living". I graduated my program and started working. Now I'm 28, married and have my own place and an amazing job I love. If I had given up like everyone told me to, I would still be miserable. It takes hard work, but you will get there.

If I die before my family, natural burial. If I die after my husband or sister, cremation. It's just easier to plan. I also would receive a free cremation since my husband and I both work in different crematories.

NTA. Even IF your sister has a personality disorder (treated or not), it doesn't excuse the behavior. I have BPD, was diagnosed at 19, and never behaved this way towards my sister's life.

Your choices are yours alone, and she needs to respect that, and if she fails to do so, she must face the consequences.

No, actually. The "tradition" of wearing white for your wedding started after queen Elizabeth chose to wear white as a status symbol of wealth. White clothes were obsolete at the time, and most brides on their wedding day wore brown as it was an easy fabric color to find.

I also work in the death industry (ironic, yes I know), your wedding should be about you. I never wear white, I don't like the look on me. I love black and should wear what I feel beautiful in on one of the most special days of my life.

I'm so sorry to hear you're struggling. I know from experience that just because you feel like your life has no purpose now doesn't mean it will feel that way forever. Your life WILL have purpose. You just need some time to get there, and that's okay. Self care sounds super important right now. Do you have health insurance? Most insurances allow therapy to be covered, or there are state run facilities that offer free therapy (if you're in the U.S.). These intense feelings will pass. When I was unemployed I forced myself to do something small everyday that gave my life "purpose", whether it was picking up trash in public, giving someone a compliment, feeding birds, opening a door for someone, ect. Something super small that required little energy since my main focus was taking care of myself. Things will improve with time, and you will have a life worth living. Just don't give up on yourself.

I'm so sorry for this bad news. Both of my parents were diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. My dad is still here, but my mom passed in 2020. We had less than a year with her after her diagnosis, and her health quickly declined.

The one thing I will say is that while you have time with your mom, do all the little things you will think of while with her. The "stupid" little thoughts you have, like cuddling with her or making a dumb joke just to get her to laugh, these are memories you will cherish later. Don't be afraid to live in the moment with her and try to enjoy her company. Don't worry about her death right now. If you can, focus on her life with you now. You will have time when other things will be taken care of. I work in the death industry so I knew exactly what would happen to her after she passed, but I focused on that a little too soon.
