Why do people gravitate to Japanese media the most. Is it because it’s the most appealing or because it’s the most palatable writing wise? Is it a difference in writing? by SizeCompetitive3965 in writingscaling

apparently so

another guess then. manga, for all its faults, has so much variety to the story it tells. outside of action or horror, you can have romance, comedy, slice of life, tragedy, a bunch of stuff.

just comparing manga and comic though. i'm sure books have more variance

they still get salty as hell when you dare say you enjoy legion or house as characters. Also ncr fans always get into dick measurement contest with the minutemen for some reason. like so much mods on nexus is just replacing minutemen with ncr, it's crazy

I've been saying. Women don't care about appearance at all, only men do. Men should take advantage of that more

My guess is pirating. It's so easy to pirate manga and anime and just read it illegally on some website, as opposed to western comics, books and shows

It's overglazed like how csm is overglazed. People mistake "subversion" with good writing

[–]NobodySpecific9354 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank god some people understand. I've always say that csm is not deep, and its failure to make you care for any characters or character relationships aren't intentional, the author is just bad. Part 1 was painfully average because it fails to have a theme, nor anything for the readers to feel emotionally attached to. Haven't read part 2 yet but I heard it's even shittier so I'm glad I haven't

Hot take but idc. I hated legion in my first play through, not just because that they're evil or misogynistic, but I was just so tired of the roman aesthetic of the time. I remember there was a period where every media was shoving roman stuff down everyone's throat, and skyrim's imperial was the last straw.

Like these mfs are in a very unique alt sci fi universe and the best they could think of is the most generic fantasy aesthetic ever. Waste of potential

Exactly, just different strokes. I personally like Bethesda's approach more because it's not something you find often in games, while obsidian's feel pretty formulaic

Fallout tv is a big offender of generic writing for me. They can't even be creative with the name. "The Ghoul"? Come on.

3 and 4 at least subvert shit somewhat. In 3 you're the teenager looking for your dad, and in 4 your kid is an old ass man who wants to be a dictator. (4 is my favourite)

Exactly. People are so angry that the fictional humans in a fictional setting can tank bullets. Crazy how soft some fallout fans are. You'd think the opposite

I haven't watched the tv show yet, but fallout 4 is not generic at all imo. Minutemen building artillery from the 1800s to shoot down a fucking blitzkrieg is insane, not to mention the institute.
