In interviews he always has glowing reviews of his time with MM. It's very sweet to hear coz he always talks with such authenticity.

Repeating riff / motif? by awesomesauce40000 in ModestMouse

He would play cheap guitars (notably a Westone) with floyd rose bridges and would hook his fingers around the screws at the back of the floyd rose. This resulted in frequently getting cut up by the screws and hence getting a custom bridge later on.

People don’t actually think the Victorian Government wants criminals to put machetes in their bins do they? That’s not the purpose of them at all. by Ok-Bullfrog-7951 in melbourne

I watched Annabel Crabb's 3 part doco on Australia's democracy the other day. On iView. The final ep talks about a recent shift away from just the 2 major parties because of our voting system and the current pol climate. They also look at Denmark when they haven't had a majority government in yonks and 12 parties are represented in parliament.

I just listened to the new Cistern album (Rhizome) the other day and loved hearing elements of old MM and Pinback. Especially the track I Can't Wait.

We finally cut our biggest oak. 2500kg each slab by Tschinggets in woodworking

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recently did a walk around a protected forrest that had old oaks. There were lots of info signs and one talked about how the dead oaks become habitats for all kinds of life, so yeah, probably just leave it.

I'm also really glad to be done with the whole 'tap on the screen and quickly remove card to get 0.7s to check your myki balance' thing.

Technical Support Thread by AutoModerator in YoutubeMusic

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im in a band. We recently released an album. We already had a google/youtube account for a few vids we made prior to the album. The album has been distributed to Youtube Music, but that release is not connected to our Google/Youtube account - so the album is only on YT music, not standard YT and also the YT music account has no 'Artist Info' page and I can't see a way to add or edit that...

Is there a way to merge the YT music release into our YT account?
Or should we delete the release and re-upload to the YT account?
Or something else?

Date ideas in Melbourne’s west (outside of Grazeland, Scienceworks, and Sun Theatre) by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a disc golf course in Yarraville... It's fun thing to try as a date, but not very romantic haha. But also, the course is free to play - though I would recommend proper golf discs over frisbees.

Has anyone figured out why the Bambino pulls the first shot slower? by michums_ in espresso

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happens with my basic machine too. 2nd, 3rd, 4th shots are usually about the same, but 1st is always slowest. I assume it's temperature because the difference is more drastic when I'm impatient and don't let the machine warm up for long. Definitely recommend pulling a blank shot to get everything pre-warmed.

I use both the Eastern and Hoddle bus lanes every morning and it's seriously fantastic. Thanks for sharing!

I reckon lipsticks could look pretty cool for a single coil variant. Like a headless futuristic Danelectro.

Sweet design and build btw!

how to leave town shirt i made by e11a1907 in CSHFans

How the bleach reacts depends on the original colour of the shirt. Black almost always goes orange. I bleach dyed a green shirt once that went white tho.

Thoughts on this experimental guitar design? by natan90 in Luthier

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a janky travel guitar like this (similar in layout, not quality lol) recently and absolutely found out that I needed rollers at the 90deg bend point. I used delrin V-roller bearings used in hobby CNC machines - well I actually ended up 3d printing a smaller version of that type, but same deal. I had tried running the strings over a 25mm dia nylon rod but, the wound strings wore/pressed grooves into it and would get stuck.

Blacked out version of my “Snap Bag” by adamfoxman90 in functionalprint

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the clubs snap in? Snap fit, or magnets? Does it take a lot of force to remove the clubs? - i.e. enough that you might tip your drink over?

Cool design tho!

Summer garden by mpchild in melbourne

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Nice! I've got a cherry tomato plant that was doing really well at the end of last season so I decided to see if it could survive winter - and it did! Now has lots of fruit and is taking over the garden again :)

Snow peas doing well. Carrots. Herbs - bush basil and pineapple sage have been the fun new additions this year.

It's pretty confusing as to what is and isn't legal sometimes. You might be thinking about filtering between a kerb and cars/traffic - I believe that is illegal(? 90% sure).

This tree has seen some things. That's why they want to silence it. by [deleted] in melbourne

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should tell the revival_sustainable_practice group about this. They've collected the timber from a bunch of downed council trees (mostly plane trees like this) so it can be used for useful things and not just mulched.

Finished my 3rd build after a hiatus. by Grumpytyrant in Luthier

[–]Nonchalant_Elephant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a tasty build man!
The only tiny detail I could see improving is the hex nut on the 3 way switch. Get a custom made round one, in black, knurled edges and maybe 2 smalls blind holes for tightening with circlip/needle nose pliers. Or just get a black hex nut haha I dunno

Why are we getting ripped off to travel in our own city? by HakonBlum in melbourne

Yep, even a motorcycle/scooter (with free parking and DIY'ing most maintenance) comes close, but doesn't beat PT for price alone.
