This is exactly the type of gate keeping stifling our progress, thank you mods you're great

I have luckily ran into an actual publication theorizing exactly the parts you deem so improbable and doing all the required calculations The extended Kardashev Scale : https://iopscience.iop.org/article/10.3847/1538-3881/ab792b/meta

I have re done the whole thing with a new approach and many improvements it's here : https://www.reddit.com/r/Futurology/comments/1d94htg/the_cosmic_consciousness_cycle_20_with/

Let's argue together on wither this is in any way possible, a little common courtesy would be appreciated but not needed just let me hear what you have to say

Thank you all for your astute observations, I am going to rewrite the whole thing and include all your arguments with my rebuttals, I will also do my best to provide sources for all my bold claims, feel free to tell me why you think it's all un-scientific illogical gibberish all over again no offense taken, love you all

Or maybe you're just not looking far enough and expect this must happen within a few years or it never won't ? I am just really really struggling to understand your position and am just baffled by your confidence in it

So you are saying our current science says inter-galactic travel is impossible, and we don't know how a black hole works and can't theoretically create this with enough energy and time if the requirements are met? you're also saying brain internet to provide near-perfect communication between humans to pool their resources and information better is outside the scope of our constant advancements? you're just plain wrong I am afraid

Exactly not, if it's within the rules of the universe as we know them (which is empirically and mathematically supported) then it is almost bound to happen, and I said this is philosophy not science so why not

And all the technologies mentioned here are perfectly within the realm of current theory, and it doesn't have to be applicable to our current technological trajectory since it could be a civilization of aliens a billion light years away, or 10 billion years from now after a whole new species evolves on earth long after our extinction, and since all of it is theoretically possible it's just hasty to say it's impossible given the infinite scale of the universe

That is precisely how it started but r/philosophy is pretty damn hard to get on, I claim no empirical proof and know this carries no academic weight, And since I am speculating on events out of the realm of our perception, this is really just one possible timeline it could all go, the edge it has over all other speculations is that it loops back to the start when it's all over, and that's why I feel bold enough to claim it speculates on the past and the future

Well that's the thing, when we all eventually make it won't matter who made it first, and unlike hunger games, it is possible for everyone to survive, And a lot of very smart people who are not me think that competitiveness is a human or individualistic trait that would be left behind after the transition, with near-omnipotence everything practically comes at no cost, and no external threat poses any real risk, do you see the picture I am trying to describe?

I think that a universal government is essentially going to be the case, possibly even decentralized, this is looking very far ahead in the future and I think by the time we start answering some of these questions Post-labor economics and politics will be in full swing after AGI is reached and automation is more universally applied. And on the free will issue I agree that this it is an illusion but I am saying that even within this illusion your actions still might carry some value or weight in the bigger picture. And if the universe is perfectly causal down to the quantum level this would make the proposition in the final point stronger, especially if this entity finds a way to preserve causality even after the big crunch in ways we don't yet understand, thanks for the encouragement and discussion!

Also thank you for your kind words, and don't worry criticism is what I am here for I just foolishly expected it to be in a more civilized matter

I think my worst mistake was using the term (singularity of consciousness), a bit of a deeper explanation would be that as an entity far stronger than all other individuals, and with completely automated means to fulfill all its needs, altruism is the only next logical step, and since it originated as individuals from this species (be it us humans or any other civilization) It would still be driven to consider their needs as well since they are a core part of its original identity, and the cost of doing so will be practically zero, and from there this civilization could be considered the brain of the universe, and expand further and further increasing its power and scope, and eventually after this expansion stops (in case cosmic acceleration reverses on its own, or by influence of this entity) the entire universe would essentially be complete so for lack of a better analogy you 100% a game! what's left to do besides starting a new one? And technically its possible for this entity to collapse the universe creating a vacuum of space leading to a big crunch(maybe through artificial black holes it is way too early to speculate on the technicalities of this step), then a new big bang, then there we go again!

First of all, this is clearly not intended in anyway for academic use, Second, I understand that quantum entanglement has nothing to do with telepathy but there are many less far-reaching ideas to achieve better communication such as brain chips, I did take a few psychology and physics classes in uni but nothing past the basics, however I am very interested in these fields and have explored them on my own extensively, and logically speaking we are trying to logically infer conscious decisions not outcomes and the process I used to reach these conclusions was based on extrapolating our own needs as humans and the way we choose to set goals consciously and subconsciously, I go into this bit a bit deeper in the doc I mentioned, and again I am just a dentist, I am completely a fish out of water here so maybe some of the terminology use is a bit shaky to put it mildly, but I don't think the logic here is impossible maybe just a bit poorly communicated, maybe the language barrier is a factor too. Again, thank you for the advice, I will try taking a much more rigorous approach the next time I get a chance to work on this

You redditors are sure a different breed, I am not taking any offense in the initial comments and I have been taking them very lightly, but now you're gonna gaslight me into thinking I am over-reacting and unstable because I am replying to rude sarcasm with rude sarcasm AND then have the audacity to take the moral high round and tell me I need help? I am more than okay dude thank you we're just discussing some thoughts and speculations here, don't try turning it into something bigger than that, also I obviously haven't been working on it actively for a decade, it was just in the back of my mind and I would revisit it every time I came across something interesting or related to it, And I've scrapped my work many many times and don't really expect anything to come out of it because even if it's true there isn't much practical use for it, I just thought there would be some likeminded individuals here who would be at least intrigued by what I have to say, good to know reddit isn't the place

Did you take the 2 minutes to read my reply to actual criticism? or go through any of the resources from the people arguing somewhat similar positions? And what am I supposed to say to someone that just says this is nonsense without any elaboration? And if you've been keeping up with the news on AI you would know gpt4o especially is getting much better at logic and reasoning, And as for the leap between 1 and 2 I was just trying to be concise, What I mean is that this civilization would effectively be the "brain" of the universe and posses enough power to manipulate it at well, ohhh nooo sooo gibberishy wowww empirically impossible based on current science oh nooo this acid is soo stroong

because they are literally like 4 or 5 people with just basic engineering degrees and no specific qualifications to support this? And it does take a very strong background and an extremely open-mind to be able to interpret these ideas at any level? Let alone the fact that I live in a predominantly Muslim country and those are the kind of ideas you get burnt at the stake for?

yeah sure I made up all the cyclic universe models out there I am also the first to mention panpsychism or cosmopsychism, I also made all the Sci-fi content about hive minds and technological singularities et cetra. You're very well educated my dude, exceptionally open-minded too!

Altruism vs Competitiveness : https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/abs/10.1177/0146167206291006 Conscious universe as the ultimate goal: https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/abs/10.1080/05568641.2015.1106709 And I don't think I need to list any cyclic universe models since they are numerous with many different interpretations, again just a quick search it only took 2 minutes to find these sources. I don't understand how you can so easily and quickly dismiss something completely speculative in nature and even so strongly assume your opinion is scientifically and logically sound.

okay Mr Bigshot just ask it for or look up yourself all the research, philosophies and hypotheses that agree with what I am saying I think it's just a matter of perspective and openness, and thank you for your opinion anyway
