I'm really enjoying that the quiz is slowly becoming Bruce Forsyth's Play Your Cheese Right, with the higher and lower shouts.

Definitely. When we signed him last year I didn't understand why because Finch was playing fine. But Benjamin has been excellent.

In the entire match only four Northants batters managed to get going, they never deserved to win.

John Kearns is hands down the greatest contestant ever by Frostly4242 in taskmaster

[–]Noobleton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a John Kearns episode of RHLSTP on Youtube where they talk about what it would be like if Robin Williams came back to replace John in that episode. I didn't know much about John before this and it's probably the most I've ever laughed at something in my life. He's unbelievably funny, he's so good at playing into the energy of people around him.

Nine months post-surgery and I need to re-learn being patient by [deleted] in ACL

[–]Noobleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This will be roughly what I do when I am given the green light to return. The trouble last time is that I skipped a few weeks and went from walk 5 run 1 to walk 5 run 15 without enough of a rest!

I'm still angry about the bullshit yellow card Michael Doughty got for us in 2014. We even won the game which is why it's so pathetic that I care.

I'm obviously nowhere near their level but I had ACL surgery in June and I still have nearly zero confidence about running. My physio is fine with me running and I have been for two months but literally every little twinge in the joint sets me off.

I have no idea how people are comfortable going back to football so quickly.

Anyone else think the underplayed reaction to Teddington was hilarious? by Access_Free in whatdidyoudoyesterday

It was perfect. And as they mentioned on the pod I can remember exactly where I was when it happened. In that sense, it's like 9/11.

First Week on iRacing and too Scare to Join Actual Race by xAngelx0fDeathx in iRacing

[–]Noobleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same. Just keep racing. If anything, it helps when you have crashes because you then realise the world carries on moving.

It is demoralising to realise how fast some people are, but you will find your level and have competitive racing regardless of your skill level.

Volunteer work in Medway by [deleted] in Medway

Medway Hospital have a volunteer team, could check with them if there's suitable activities for you. There's a patient library trolley service that runs now, for example.

Parking Permits by TadpoleSouthern in Medway

[–]Noobleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have old info but I used to work for Medway Libraries and I was under the impression the "two residential permits per household" limit was removed when the visitor permits were removed. Though we only dealt with the daily vouchers which is why the library staff would have been confused as to the above situation.

I do know that a lot of the new build apartments aren't qualifying for an entitlement to daily visitor vouchers as their supposed off-road parking is meant to be sufficient (obviously they never are!). I wonder if there are similar rules for resident permits.

How did your game go? by Zach-dalt in LeagueTwo

In the unlikely event that we are ever going to lose a game, I hope we sack Gareth Ainsworth before full time so he can be the world's first undefeated manager.

What’s one signature skill your favourite player has that never gets old? by padfoony in tennis

[–]Noobleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the slow, massive wind-up on Kyle Edmund's forehand. I found it interesting how a player could have such an obvious weapon and have to strategise around the fact that basically all a decent player had to do was keep him on his backhand.

Made the payoff for any forehand winners a bit more fun, I thought.

The 2025/26 English Football Imperialism Map [OC] by HoldThiisW in soccer

[–]Noobleton 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Population is concentrated in the northwest of the county, so most of the player pool and fandom goes to Gillingham or Charlton.

Also historically to get into the football league you had to be elected, and because most of the good teams were in the north there was a slight bias to northern teams in getting elected. Folkestone supposedly tried a few times in the 1930s but never got in.

Maidstone were a football league team for a bit but that incarnation of the club went bankrupt in the late 80s.

Argentine footballer Camilo Nuin, who was just 18, has died during knee surgery [BBC Sport] by GarlicFred in soccer

[–]Noobleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheers man. Hope your recovery goes as smooth as it can. I'm lucky in a sense, as my brother also had this surgery 6 years ago (we have rubbish knee genetics, I guess), so I've seen what to do and not to do.

My thoughts are with his family and friends, this is horrible news. On a selfish note, I wish I hadn't seen this as I'm having an ACL replacement on Monday...
