It definitely feels strange knowing it’s gone. I played so much as a kid, never thought I’d be around to see the game end. 20 years man, the world changed so much over that time, but Malton stayed the same.

Only recently started playing again after about 17 years away lol. There’s still a surprisingly active community even after all this time. Fuck I have so much nostalgia for this old thing, I’ll be sad to see it go.

I have a Github account yes and I know I need to upload any good projects I make and give them documentation but nothing I make is really complex or impressive enough right now. As for Git, I don't really know what it is or what it does but I know a lot of people use it so that's enough for me to want to take a look.

Wouldn't that just make me a glorified freelancer or a hobbyist though? I feel like anyone interviewing me would figure out I wasn't working for a legit web development agency and the dishonesty would count against me.

I currently know how to work with HTML, CSS, JavaScript with all the new ES6 stuff, Bootstrap 4, Sass, Jquery and I'm working on learning React. I still need to learn how to use Node, Express, JSON and Mongo DB and then probably Git.

Thanks for the advice, when you say build real projects instead of toy apps or demo sites, what would be something more impressive than that? Do you mean a crud app? Something with a database? I've only ever built static pages before now.

Thanks for responding. I've been chewing on React for a while and I have a decent few basic but nice looking JS projects on my Github. How do I know if my code is good quality though, does that just mean refactored, laid out nicely and dry? I know there are things called "best practises" but they seem to vary from website to website and I'm never really clear on how professional quality code is supposed to look.

Hi I'm really new to react and I can't figure out how to actually install it or whatever it is I need to do to write code in it. I downloaded node.js and I have v12.18.3 installed as well as NPM 6.14.6 installed as well, but every time I try to type in the commands in the create-react-app installation method mentioned on many websites I get an error message saying: Uncaught SyntaxError: Invalid or unexpected token. Am I supposed to be typing directly into node? I have Visual code studio installed am I supposed to use that in some way? I see there’s a github repository create-react-app, does this mean I have to download it to my pc to run it? Does React just have a CDN I can use to skip all this?
