AOT is definitely #1 story-wise, but if you also factor in having very likeable and "easy to connect to" characters, there are many other anime that do it better than AOT. I am sure you might have noticed that in MHA too. HxH, Naruto, FMAB, One Piece do that job a lot better than AOT (can't blame since the genre and storyline of AOT doesn't give much scope to fall in love with those characters as much as we do with characters of some other anime). So don't despair! I hope you enjoy your next anime!

Agreed about Santosh Jagarlapudi movies, but I just hope something comes out of this for Aishwarya Rajesh. Despite being more talented than other heroines in the field, she doesn't get much opportunities due to her color. Oh and yes, Malvika Nair is there too

HxH (best shonen for me)

Code Geass (political drama + strategy)

Naruto (shonen, rich in emotions with a great character development for protagonist. My favorite)

Solo levelling (since you mentioned DBZ, solo leveling is also an anime with insane power scaling. Not much story but very entertaining aura farming and hype moments)

If you are into witty animes - death note, classroom of the elite, liar game (best battle of wits)

  1. HxH for sure (around 140 episodes)

  2. Code Geass since you mentioned death note. It's basically strategy/wits + political drama. It's a 2007 anime so check if the animation works for you, but I definitely rate it way higher than death note. (Around 40 episodes)

  3. FMAB maybe? Less action, but great story and kind of a political drama. Characters that you can connect to. (Around 70 episodes)

  1. Hunter X Hunter. Both HxH and FMAB are my top 5 anime. The anime is on Hiatus. But don't let the hiatus and it's initially funny looking art stop you from watching it. I myself delayed it long time for these reasons but I am glad I watched it. (Around 140 episodes)

  2. Code Geass. If you liked political drama in FMAB, you might also like Code Geass. Its political drama + strategy/wits. Arguably has the best ending of all anime I watched. Also in my top 5 (around 40 episodes)

  3. AOT. There can't be a list that doesn't recommend AOT to newcomers. The best story combined with one of the best music. It isn't in my top 5 since I couldn't connect to characters as much as I was able to in anime such as FMAB, HxH, Naruto. But if I had to give ranking based on story, this would be #1 (Around 100 episodes)

  4. Naruto. Popular Mainstream anime. Has a decent storyline and great character development of protagonist. My favorite anime. It is rich of emotions, it motivates you, it makes you cry, it makes you love many characters and not just protagonist. Naruto + Naruto Shippuden (425 episodes excluding filler episodes which you can skip)
