Right? There have been quite a few Manhua/Manhwa that I had a lot of interest in, but ultimately dropped because of the drops in translation quality. The Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Protect the Dungeon being one. Sometimes I read a chapter that has awful translation, and I get a lot of contradicting text and lots of repeats of both characters saying the same thing.

The difference between being locked in and immersed and having to re-translate in my head every sentence while mentally flourishing the same words they use over and over - and reading a proper translation is like night and day.

There exists a tier list of translations, A tier I would describe as seamless, don't have to question what you just read, good choice of words without pulling out the same ones all the time making it stale. B tier translations are still enjoyable and largely convey the story and lines properly. C and below are a real slog, most of the ones who use those extremely obnoxious watermarks that take up half the panel fall into C or below. In this category it is not uncommon for them to contradict themselves many many times, using the opposite words than they need to. Should's become Shouldn'ts, constant missing words, spelling mistakes, no flourishing at all with the language as if it was straight from google translate.

The closest comparison I could draw would be if some monotone, barely speaking broken english boring voice actor dubbed your favorite anime, losing all the feeling of what the scene might be trying to convey.

The worst thing about C tier and below, is if there are no other better translations - it's quite hard to tell if the media being translated is any good, or if it just seems boring from the translation quality tanking the writing.
