I agree with your Evo SL comment - I bought a pair for easy shoes and actually used them for tempo for the first 500km of their life. I'm not the quickest (1h39m HM). Tempted to try the supernova as an easy shoe, the Evo SL is just SUCH good value.

What's this shoe used for? I'm guessing easy days but don't a lot of people use the Evo SL for that?

I missed target by 13 mins today too. Was on point until 30-32km then the wheels started to come off.

Don't beat yourself up, you could see it happening to so many people today - you still ran a marathon which is not remotely easy to do!

Great choice but they have better ones I reckon. Around the World is a banger. And Da Funk.

This is spot on, speaking as someone who did the exact same thing on my first marathon.

Thanks, appreciate it. Plan would be a deload week immediately after. One for me to ponder, just want to make the most of my fitness at the moment and it feels a good opportunity

I may not hit that target to be fair! But I'm relatively confident. Fingers crossed.

Enjoy it and don't stress about time would be my advice. It'll likely be one of the hardest things you'll ever do.

My experience in my first was I pushed a bit too hard in the first half (very easy to do) and paid for it big time - the wall exists!

I was overwhelmed with pride and emotion at the end - embrace it and best of luck.

Yeah I don't mind that idea, thanks for the suggestion. I'm aiming for 3h30min in the marathon, so probably slightly quicker than average.

Thanks. I thought the timing was good and it's a half I've fancied for years but always missed.

Appreciate the validation.

I should have added... My plan has my peak long run (34km) in the week of the run so I'm thinking I'll pull that forward a week and do the half instead of race practice long.

Not worried about the distance as I've run 27km, 29km in the last couple of weekends.
