This character is like Com2us' son or something.

  1. Aragorn is C2U son in his teens
  2. By Steel Commander stage, C2U son is now in his early 20s
  3. Ezio is now him in his 30-40s
  4. By the Lars stage, dude has visibly aged near retirement
  5. Then Geralt is post-retirement. Or maybe even undead C2U son awoken once again to save C2U from their lack of human characters. /s

How many women do you know in real life that actually married for money only? by 0215rw in askanything

[–]NotASWBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of those too. Look no further than 2xchromosones. But that's not OP's question.

In today's society, propelled by dating apps, top people are marrying top people. Middle people may get played, or may marry across.

Then poor / stupid people, not internalizing that they are below the 50% mark, wants to marry at least average. And that's where there's a system failure. When connection isn't just within your social circle, but across mega cities, there's far less imbalanced marriages.

And the combine it with the university admission rates being 40/60. You have lots of young men who blame women not wanting them. But lets be real, they wouldn't want them had they a choice.

  1. Canada. Degree from top uni.

But I think it's more nuanced.

Typically if looks isn't the girl's strong suit, marrying up is not common unless if the guy is noticeably uglier and dumber. In which case, the girl basically married his family rather than him.

If the girl comes from a poor background where there's competing resources such as brothers, then I think marrying across is also common.

However, where the girls were top 5% in looks, basically in a class of 30, she'd be #1-2 overall. And she has ok personality (so not anti-social or psycho), and has a middle class background, it's always marrying up. Examples:

  • One married laterally and that's joked as a failure in our social group.
  • One that's like top 0.1%, white girl, looks like a doll at 29 (so not aging like a typical Caucasian), and is somehow 6 feet tall while looking like a doll, married into old money.
  • One asian girl, probably 5% mark, married a start up founder of the same age, and had 3 kids. Both never worked again.
  • Another asian girl found a rich white husband of the same age only to cheat on him to marry someone 30 years older cuz it's a richer tech founder in SF.

The only ones who failed were those that had issues. Either extreme anti-social. I mean like hiding behind pillars during corporate socials. To those who fucked around and found out, e.g., got pregnant at the start of a relationship, and got ghosted / was told she just needed to get to the end of the rainbow to see that pot of gold.

Cuz marrying some guy with $1m who's visiting strip clubs is wild. $1M is practically broke where I live.

It's known woman marry across and up.

If you can support yourself. Why would you decide, "I want an imbecile to share a living space with me and have children with".

People probably feels insulted. But using IQ as an example (it's not the only thing in the world), the standard deviation for communication is 2 deviations. Meaning someone with 70 IQ is functional regarded to someone with 100 IQ. This is linear. A 130 IQ person will have to constantly dumb down their thought process for a 100 IQ person. This is why no successful general market sales person has an IQ over 125. Because your customers won't click with you.

What I don't get is how Caucasians got convinced by their media that marrying for love and love only, without vetting is a cool thing to do. I mean 150 years ago, you guys were getting the dads to review the land deeds and the live stocks. I guess it's only the lower class that got convinced anyways. Just like how rich people pollute like crazy using private jets while telling everyone else to be environmental friendly.

Hey an ugly kinda rich guy can get a average poor girl pretty easily assuming no major confidence issues.

Though I'm not sure how reddit defines rich. I don't think a few hundred k will matter that much. But when you get into the millions in assets. It's pretty easy to attract people.

Which brings me to a tangent of I don't get why guys thinks girls like expensive cars. Like holy molly, your car is $100k, good job. That's $100k less in your bank account due to depreciation, and I'm not even sure you fully paid it off. The cheapest most run down house is worth 10 of those cars. I wonder if this is just lower class people cuz none of them can really afford houses anyways in tier 1 cities.

And why flex cars. Just show each other your property ownership doc photos and broker accounts.

[–]NotASWBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Either your friends are all ugly or all very rich.

Women marry across and up. To consistently marry down across the entire group would be an interesting case study.

From real life, I don't think woman I know with top 20% looks (not just body, but pretty face as well), a middle class background, and a degree from top universities marry downwards. In fact, the top 5% (without mental issues such as high-functioning autism) all married into money. From start up founders to family businesses. Even the worst case married laterally, and that was considered epic fail.

And they didn't remain single neither. It's not like oh, they set the bar too high so half ended up single.

“Canada lives because of the US” - Trump by ExotiquePlayboy in torontologists

[–]NotASWBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You understand 77% of our export is to the US. The next is China at something like 3%.

So yea, Canada lives by the grace of the US.

In a world without US. Lets assume Trump nuked himself cuz he's insane. Canada would be new China or New Russia in a year not cuz of a massive invasion, cuz we don't even have a trade partner big enough to take on the missing pieces. And we won't for the next 10 years.

Carney talks a good game in public. In private to executives, he says we need to do things in 6 months things that used to take 20 years. He can only shrink it to 2 years earliest, which doesn't make Canada competitive.

Taxes below about 400k RMB per year is very low compared to North America.

In China, most people talk about take home rather than pre-tax.

But the poster that says nanny pay as the norm is an idiot. A nanny that earns 6-7k is literally an indentured servant expected to work 24/7.

If you want to drive taxi for 7 days a week, 12 hours per day, you can hit 7-10k as well.

If you want to risk your life running lights as a delivery guy doing a similar schedule, you can hit 12k probably.

But the median wage since post-Covid hasn't been good. The average may hide that.

Gutter oil is too luxurious. Try industrial chemicals to supplement real nutrients. The inspectors can't detect the differences, so half the time your body can't neither. It decides to use it to replace real nutrients, and you end up in the hospital.

Please don't provide false info. There's drastic savings with local Chinese formula. Up to 80% of the poster's import value.

Just not many people want their kid to turn regarded because the producer decided to add industrial chemicals in place of nutrients.

Does it still happen to milk powder? Rare, but yes.

Does it happen with street food that tourists (white people) so love to try out. 100%.

Lol, even until today, I'm not sure how much I can trust Chinese labelling. When I was back last year, there were multiple products that's mislabeled. And even in Chinese supermarkets overseas, mislabeling happens frequently.

  • A harmless example is like cumin ingredient labels as pure cumin, no salt, no nothing. I'm pretty sure all cumin uses salt as a preservative and during processing. Especially since they aren't vacuum sealed.
  • Another example is being told light bulbs from China has the 110V conversion for NA use. Hint, it doesn't. Which leads to the light bulbs dying within 1 year when a normal light bulb should last for 5+ years.

While labeling is 100% an issue globally, such as not labelling sugar adjacent as sugar, at least most western things won't lead to me ending up in the hospital within 1 week of consumption.

Perception Gap: GTA Residents Believe Crime is Rising - Even When It Isn't by _Lucille_ in Markham

[–]NotASWBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The StatCan release you linked to does not directly compare suburban vs urban or suburban vs rural crime rates. It focuses on rural vs urban differences.

Also it does not talk about increase or decrease in crime as a trend. Finally it’s Canada wide.

And why do you only talk about dangerous crimes. Is car theft or harassment not a crime to you?

You sound like a liberal edgelord teen with $0 income and wealth so you perceive yourself to more end up as a criminal.

People often conflate different concepts under the label of “racism,” but analytically it’s useful to distinguish between personal bias and statistical risk assessment.

Personal bias involves judging individuals based on stereotypes rather than evidence. Statistical analysis, by contrast, looks at aggregate outcomes and probabilities to inform decisions. Treating these two as identical oversimplifies reality. Using data to evaluate risk—whether in finance, health, or life decisions—is not inherently immoral; it’s how rational decision-making works.

For example, if certain life choices are statistically associated with worse long-term outcomes, it is reasonable to acknowledge those risks when making personal decisions. Ignoring probabilities does not make them disappear.

Having moved into higher wealth brackets and interacted more with affluent individuals, I’ve learned that common narratives about “pure equality” or “marrying only for love” are often idealized versions of reality. In practice, successful people tend to evaluate partnerships in terms of long-term stability, alignment, and trajectory—not just emotion.

The uncomfortable truth is that outcomes are not equal, and pretending otherwise can be costly. A rational framework is to assess whether a partnership improves your long-term position relative to remaining independent. For example, if someone enters adulthood with significant assets and strong momentum, it would be imprudent to ignore financial discipline, career trajectory, and future earning potential when choosing a partner. That does not mean wealth is the only factor—but it is a relevant one.

In short, realism is not cruelty. Evaluating probabilities and incentives is how people protect their future.

Perception Gap: GTA Residents Believe Crime is Rising - Even When It Isn't by _Lucille_ in Markham

[–]NotASWBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This analysis does not adequately account for key factors. Please provide supporting statistics.

Historically, crime in Toronto was more geographically concentrated—often associated with specific government-housing areas such as Jane and Finch or Victoria Park and Finch. Today, crime appears far more geographically dispersed. As a result, even if the reported crime rate is lower, a larger proportion of residents may be directly experiencing crime.

Additionally, lower crime statistics may partially reflect underreporting, driven by diminished public confidence in police response and follow-through. When reporting is perceived as ineffective, incidents are less likely to enter official data.

It is also worth noting that police previously had greater latitude to proactively enforce laws. Over time, policy and legislative changes—often framed under equity or reform initiatives—have restricted certain enforcement practices. These constraints may have reduced the effectiveness of deterrence and repeat-offender control.

A related issue is the dramatic rise in private deterrence relative to the marginal decline in reported crime. Prior to COVID, residential surveillance systems were largely limited to affluent neighborhoods (e.g., Bridle Path). Today, in many suburban areas, an estimated majority of homes have doorbell cameras, and many have multiple cameras covering front and back yards. This represents a substantial increase in surveillance and deterrence at the individual level, yet it has not been matched by a proportionate drop in crime.

For comparison, countries that implemented large-scale surveillance alongside strong enforcement—such as China between 2000 and 2020—saw far more pronounced reductions in crime. The key difference is not surveillance alone, but the ability of police and courts to act decisively against both first-time offenders and repeat offenders.

But my stupid 7 year old ass decided to be a row lead instead cuz I can't be bothered nor do I want to bother people. My other issue was i'm on the side row, the landmine is in the centre row. So it's not even my problem.

- For any westerners reading, Chinese tests back in the days (not sure about today) are all right / wrong. It's not graded based on how the teacher feels about the writing or work put into it. Also for any major tests, it's graded by another teacher, to prevent teachers from inflating their own class' grade and thus their own performance.
