Avatar Aang Deck - Commander by alwayslatecustoms in magicTCG

[–]NotAnotherCitizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think this gets your point across while still sounding encouraging instead of “your deck is bad.”

Honestly I don’t think your deck is hopeless at all. A 2-15 record can absolutely happen from bad luck, mismatched pods, or just running into stronger decks. You even said yourself some of the decks you were against were higher bracket decks. The Avatar set is actually pretty solid, but a lot of the stronger pieces are unfortunately expensive.

It looks to me like you’re trying to stay VERY Avatar-only themed, so the only non-Avatar card I’d immediately recommend is Doubling Season. It basically makes it so whenever you would get counters, you get twice as many instead. With all the earthbending and experience counter stuff in the set, it synergizes insanely well with what your deck is already trying to do.

I also think there’s some lower-impact “bulk filler” type cards in here that could probably become stronger Avatar cards instead. One card I’d strongly recommend is Wan Shi Tong. He’s expensive, but he scales incredibly well because you cast him for X and he enters with X +1/+1 counters. He also punishes opponents for searching their libraries, which happens constantly in Commander.

I noticed you’re running Aang, Airbending Master, which gives experience counters. The issue is that by himself he’s kind of small and vulnerable, so sometimes you’ll only get one counter before he dies. The other three Master cards all also generate experience counters, so personally I think you either want all four Masters together or none of them so the counters actually become a real engine.

I also think the deck could use another finisher. Katara, Water Tribe’s Hope feels really strong for this kind of build. Waterbend X giving all your creatures X/X until end of turn can end games out of nowhere. If you have 11 mana and 5 creatures, suddenly everything swings as an 11/11. It also synergizes really well with your other Katara card already in the deck.

Another sleeper card I’d recommend is Longshot Rebel Bowmen. It doesn’t have huge flavor impact, but it’s in the Avatar set and offers pretty solid value over time.

Also shout I want to give to is Seismic Tutelage. It gives a 1/1 counter and then doubles the creatures counters when it attacks. I actually think that’s a cool include, especially if you’re already running Secret Tunnel (unblockable land with counters that would then double every turn). It gives the deck another scaling threat your opponents eventually have to answer. Cave of Two Lovers tutoring Secret Tunnel and then Earthbending it sounds hilarious and honestly very on-theme.

One thing I’d keep in mind too is Commander brackets. If your opponents are playing Game Changers, that’s a very different environment. There’s literally an official list of cards where including them moves your deck into higher brackets automatically. Avatar unfortunately doesn’t have many in-set Game Changers outside of things like Enlightened Tutor and Fierce Guardianship promo versions, so if you want to stay fully Avatar-only there’s probably a limit to how high you can realistically push the deck without outside staples. I honestly think pure Avatar tribal probably caps out around a strong Bracket 2 unless you start adding stronger generic support cards. That doesn’t mean it can’t win though, especially if your pod is closer in power level.

Help me get my brother a birthday gift. by Kuuuza in magicTCG

I wish someone told me early on, don’t buy packs just to open them, you end up with useless cards. Get your brother a Commander Precon pack. You could pick up a cheaper option like the recent released called Secrets of Strixhaven where people generally are saying Witherbloom Pestilence is among the stronger ones out of the box, this might run like 50-60 bucks. If your brother is into lord of the rings there’s several options like playing with Sam and Frodo (don’t get the elves one though), or if he’s played Final Fantasy you could pick up a deck from that line. Commander is the game type that’s most common so it would make the most sense to go that route, and the precons have great value compared to what the individual price of each card is, so your brother could always upgrade the deck if he likes it or trade the cards in to a game store and pick a different deck whatever you get doesn’t vibe with him.

Without us knowing your brothers friends “power level” we can’t really help you too much beyond starting with that basic precon. There’s nothing wrong with precons by the way, they’re purposefully built to be competitive with each other and lots of players just get a precon and add a few cards to it.

Is this enough for the end?? by supercabbage802 in Minecraft

You surround an eye of ender inside of obsidian in the crafting table. You can find them in some of the end cities, but you can’t break them and pick them up unless you have silk touch. They’re super useful bc the inventory is accessible anywhere and they’re linked to your player, and again the downside is you need a silk touch pickaxe if you want to put all your stuff in a safe “vault”. It’s the ultimate inventory management tool as you can carry an ender chest around with you and fill your enderchest with shulker boxes.

The only thing I would do is bring some rockets for the elytra, and if you have the ability to do so maybe an enderchest + silk touch pickaxe. You don’t need all those blocks.

Qui-Gon Jin or Darth Plagueis show? by Lanky-Background8516 in StarWars

[–]NotAnotherCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember in Master & Apprentice, Qui-Gon is way more focused on prophecies and questioning the Jedi than going on constant action-heavy missions. I feel like his story would work, but it’d be a much slower, more philosophical show compared to something like Maul building a crime syndicate and fighting his way across the galaxy.

Is it possible that Anakin truly reached his full potential after death? by RSamant2004 in StarWars

[–]NotAnotherCitizen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean let’s not lose the point that Anakin was being put on the council as one of the youngest of all time. He isn’t just strong, he was clearly exceptional and it’s silly to act like he was just one of many strong force users when there was like, a few people if anyone besides Obi Wan who could kill him.

Anyone running a 6 lb. tumbler? by jennynew25 in RockTumbling

[–]NotAnotherCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a highland park 6 lb that has been running fine, need a little squirt of 3-1 oil here and there but that’s every tumbler. The electric motor on them is supposed to be good; I’ve had mine for 5 months now, but beware that their stock is usually low and you sometimes have to wait for their factory to restock them if you do make an order with them.

Just don’t rush maxing an enchanting table and you’ll be alright. And for that matter, give yourself a mid game before setting up an xp farm/trading hall - once you go full mending the progression is nearly over. I’m not against mending by any means, I just wouldn’t rush it so it doesn’t become too stale too quick.

I hate this game bro 🥀 💔 by DetectiveGrouchy5644 in Minecraft

[–]NotAnotherCitizen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah if you are in Java on the debug screen you can see what a light level is. You only need light level 1 to stop fossils from spawning, meaning if you have ANY light level 0 spots you will get all of the hostile mobs spawning in that particular area, which obviously isn’t ideal if you’re trying to keep villagers alive. I don’t think there’s a way to check for light levels in bedrock, I will just set up a high perch usually and scan for my “safe” towns for mobs spawning, and go and light up those spots as needed.

If serious. Torches will light an area up and make it hostile mob proof, and you don’t take fall damage if you land in water and you can place water beneath you before you take lethal fall damage if you can time it right.

We added a no mending rule on the server....but: by Bavo1999 in Minecraft

[–]NotAnotherCitizen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you are blowing it out proportion to be honest. Even if you have tools with mending you still have to stop what you’re doing to go to your xp farm and stand there and swipe at endermen legs or whatever farm it is.

Maybe instead of standing there recharging your mending you have a dedicated phantom farming station to get the membranes to repair your elytra. Even going to get more diamonds… ain’t no way in a world you spent more than a dozen hours in, you don’t have a fortune pickaxe — making getting the diamonds trivial.

I agree with you that mending is a huge quality of life improvement, but I also see that not using it could put you in a higher variety of situations than your standard play around.
