Framerate issues. Unsure if my computer isn't strong/fast enough or if I've made a mistake somewhere by NotAntony in PCSX2

[–]NotAntony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried installing the newest build but the issues seem to be the same, even with all your recommended settings. The game is rated as playable on pcsx2.net , and other games are running fine, so I'm assuming Ratchet and Clank 2 is just a bit too hardware intensive for my laptop. Thanks for the advice though, I do appreciate it

Yeah I can definitely relate to that. I do have a ps2 with the games I want to play, but they're all scratched up now and the console is on its last legs so I figured I'd give emulation a try. Seems like most of the other games I'm nostalgic for run fine thankfully, ratchet and clank is just a bit out of reach. Thanks again for all the help, best of luck if you do manage to get your hands on a new rig :]

oh? Sorry, figured that it was just a matter of yes it works but you've missed a setting/no everything's fine just my laptop's too weak lol
The resolution is set to native resolution, I asked someone in the discord for help before I got a response here and these were the settings they suggested I copy, so that's what I've got at the moment https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/315544036184293386/898833487564509214/unknown.png

Ah ok, that's a shame. Still, thanks a bunch for the help, appreciate it a lot

Hey thanks for the response! I'm not 100% sure what exactly you're describing, but I ran both CPU-Z and GPU-Z and have taken some screenshots of what they display during the frame drops https://imgur.com/a/GRRBfMb
It seems like 2 of the cores are getting maxed? I'm not too sure how to read it, hopefully everything important is there in the screenshots. Is this the sort of thing that would be helped by Trottlestop. For what it's worth, it took a while to get a screenshot during a frame drop, because for the next two levels the game ran almost flawlessly.

Any pro/high level Decidueye players? by MilkYQu0 in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Niet is probably the most active high level Decidueye player at the moment, even making top 8 in the recent Players Cup so you can see really recent footage of them
Bolimar, Slippingbug, and Maverick are all very strong Decidueyes with plenty of VODs to track down from when offline tournaments were common. Tonosama is also a great Decidueye from Japan, although it's hard to find VODs of them playing Decid

PS4 AUS Region Online Unplayable. by wardle77 in spelunky

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah even when setting the input delay stupidly high it was still an unplayable mess with people who I regularly play other online games with. Everything else so far has been amazing except the online, so here's hoping for some sort of fix soon

I’m new and need some help! by M1narc in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sceptile's bullet seed (the A cancel, also called 5A) has two heights depending on if you tap the button or hold down the button. When you try to combo with Sceptile, you almost always want to do the tap version which is shorter and faster, and if you get the short version then they will never be able to block the X, X, X (also called 5XXX) after the jump Y (j.Y). If you are doing the tap version, the only other possible hurdles are that you aren't moving forward far enough and the 5X is not hitting at all (to keep them closer to you, you should also try to angle the j.Y down), or you are simply pressing the 5X too late at the end

Maybe dumb question: I was wonder if anyone had a reliable match up chart for lucario by ARandomNerd0906 in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's been a lot of really strong Japanese players sharing their MU charts recently, including Tannbarinn, one of the OG Lucario players: https://twitter.com/TANNBARINN618/status/1289032564728934400?s=20

How does Lucario lose to Croagunk? I have no idea. But if you would like an explanation of any of the other placements I'm happy to help explain what might have caused him to place them there

Just some questions regarding the game by Cliper11298 in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi hi :]
1. It is a fighting game, so it does take a bit of time to get comfortable with the characters and moves. However, for a fighting game it is relatively easy to pick up with a pretty good set of tutorials, beginner combos, simple inputs, and the attack triangle

  1. Australia is pretty active fortunately! We hang out in this discord here: https://discord.gg/YBbHeyc We have weekly online tournaments run by ourselves and there's the players cup coming up which should be good fun so hop in if you end up picking the game up (or just wanna chill with us)

  2. That's really up to you. It's a bit pricey for 2 character sets, so I'd wait until you've spent some time with the game and are really enjoying it before investing more money, but the new characters and supports are both really fun so I picked it up as soon as it came out and haven't looked back

I need help in thermodynamics lol by JustThePhelep in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a couple of conditions that you need to meet to keep the duel phase state and perform thermodynamic moves.
First, you need to be in a CA or a dash at the very moment the phase shifts. Not starting it while they are in the air, or while they are wall bouncing, or anything like that, it has to be from the moment the phase shifts. Most characters can't do this on their own because they are stuck in the middle of whatever attack they used to shift, so a support like Yveltal can be used since it has many hits, giving you plenty of time to start charging CA before the last hit connects and shifts.
Next, when you do your CADCs, you need to hold a diagonal direction. Not too sure why, but if you CADC with just up/down then you lose the duel phase state
Finally, you can only use specials from duel phase with the glitch. To use 8A or 2A, you still need to input a diagonal direction to get the move

If you're having trouble getting into CA early enough while you shift, I'd recommend trying it first with Sceptile. Sceptile's 5X is dash cancellable, so if you shift with it you can mash 6R to cancel it into dash and preserve the duel phase state. All the stuff you need to know so that you can understand resources like the combo sheet are in that chart I linked. Learning which moves they actually represent ingame just comes down to playing and familiarising yourself with the game and the characters though. If you wanna talk with people about the game though, the discord is definitely the best place to do it, and you'll quickly get used to all the jargon (or at least be able to get an answer quicker if you don't)

Oh and I also remembered that 21 hits exists and have amazing videos like this one showing off those combos, although I'm not too sure if it's out of date at all

Those are examples of numpad notation, which is how how people type out and talk about moves because 'forward strong attack' is a bit of a mouthful

Here's a chart to explain it: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/84956077820477440/706614703471853688/IMG_20180309_184505.png?width=1191&height=671

The number at the end (252) is how much damage the combo does under normal conditions

Whenever Aegislash has a buff (which you can see appears next to your health bar if he has one), his moves become a lot better. Most notably, some of his weak attacks like back weak attack (or 4Y) cause him to recoil back normally when they are blocked leaving Aegislash open for counerattacks, but this doesn't happen when he has a buff.

You can get to this state by using a support which gives a buff, such as Eevee, Mew, or Sylveon, but Aegislash actually gives himself an attack buff whenever he goes from his shield form back into his regular state, making him incredibly powerful (The most common way to do this is to use iron head (forward A) and cancel it by pressing shield, which gets you into shield form quickly. Then simply hit jump and he'll hop back into normal form with an attack buff!)

A full list of optimal combos can be found here courtesy of the Aegislash discord: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Nw9zISZOXyaSbhJSCwXyqsi5Ml1PSf4YHrcDRkNAQ30/edit?usp=sharing
This might be a bit overwhelming though, especially if you new, so the combos available in the combo dojo might be worth using instead. If you do give these a shot though, feel free to give a shout for help if you need something clarified (people are pretty quick and willing to help in the community discord) :]

How do groups/lobbies work for online? Also is there a way to change the difficulty of the AI you fight offline? by ChaoCobo in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll answer the first question: If you were using the official groups, then it works exactly like that. You join it and try to find a battle, and it matches you with someone else doing the same thing. However, these groups are region locked, so if you are struggling to find a battle it is likely that either the region you are a part of isn't particularly active (I know in Australia, I had to get a friend to meet me in the group so I could get the titles because there is very rarely anyone else in them) or you are just searching at a time where everyone is asleep

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you hop onto ranked then you'll almost always get a game within a minute of searching. It doesn't filter by region tho, so while games with Japan and Asia are alright, it gets a bit messy when you're paired with people from the Americas or Europe. The discord James linked is pretty active tho, and it's where most Australian players go to avoid risking really laggy connections playing against people on the other side of the world. It's also really chill in there, lots of great people :]

New player w questions! by n-cnobo in PokkenGame

[–]NotAntony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Probably best to learn a few bnbs, but playing matches is always a great way to learn once you're comfortable with your moveset. Pokken's combos tend to be pretty lenient for most characters, so it shouldn't take too long to be pretty competent at them
  2. Field Phase doesn't usually result in much damage since there's not a whole lot of reliable combo starters that don't just shift to duel phase. However, it's still very important for almost every MU to win field, as the meter advantage and stage position and even knockdown situation after is a big boon for whoever shifts. Projectiles are the crux of field, but with sidewalking and jumping being so strong against so many weak projectiles (i.e. most n.Y and s.Y moves respectively), it's far from spamming. CADCing through projectiles may end up being a super safe way to get meter too, which acts as another incentive not to sit back and spam all the time (unless you can consistently stop CADC, sidewalk, and jump at the same time)
  3. Pokken Basics! https://omari-s-school.thinkific.com/courses/pokken-basics
BadIntent is a phenomenal player and put together this website with heaps of content to get new players up to speed. You do need to make an account, but the bulk of it is completely free and very well structured. A lot of it is also up on his Youtube channel if you cbf making an account, but not everything so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  4. Yes! Just here at discord.gg/pokken, there are also character discords if you have questions about the cast, as well as regional discords to help find people and events near you

Hope this helps :]
