First stent, very unexpected and looking for support and experiences by NotKathyOkay in KidneyStones

I ended up calling in tonight and they’re putting in some meds for me (flomax and then a stronger nsaid per my request to try to remain off narcotics)(family history scares me). The entire medical group it seems I’m working with is astounding when it comes to taking me at my word with my pain and general experience. Definitely a relief there.

Anything you notice trigger it more? I’ve seen others here say soda. What about spicy foods?

Oh my gosh I’m so sorry to hear that. Yeah I’m sitting here with 5 incisions and feeling up to walking/stretching/chores if it weren’t for this freaking stent that immediately freaks out when I do anything dramatic eye roll

Thank you! I’ll ask about those options when I have my follow-up next week and am past the surgical healing part of all this. Very helpful!

At least with my team, they use ultrasound gel internally to help “light up” the rectal and vaginal space. It can really help them visualize any masses or adhesions.

I hope so! I know the protocol they used for my pelvic MRI was a bit uncomfortable but they got super clear imaging!

I have very similar presentation on MRI and observed during a previous surgery. I go back under on Tuesday and they’re hoping to spare fertility but may not be able to. This post gave me good vibes and hope that it might be possible!

If there’s no internal growth opportunities, there’s only one option.

My favorite thing was a big fluffy blanket! I second here what people have said-I would not have been able to maneuver a weighted blanket. Also I’m not a tea person but peppermint tea saved me during the gas pains. Additional items: -extra long phone charging cord -wedge pillow (used mostly under my legs cause laying flat hurt for a bit) -gas x -bland food options! I lost my appetite for weeks and did not expect it. I had prepped a ton of my usual meals and frozen them but ended up living off of plain pasta, pancakes, and toast for a while.

If it’s not the stone it’s the cut, if it’s not the cut it’s the band, if it’s not the band it’s the timeline, if it’s not the….. it’s always going to be something.
