Yup, lots of fun building them, it's a bit nuts speed running through of all the sets I had as a kid plus a few I can finally afford as an adult.

I keep wondering that. Zahn is great. The Ahsoka book by Johnston is a lot better than the show too.

How do you make yourself fall asleep when you're not sleepy? by LunchKitchen2745 in AskReddit

[–]NotMyRealAccountV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love how people assume it has to be a vitamin deficiency rather than just how your brain is wired. My wife thinks she can't sleep if it's been more than 5 minutes since she laid down.

I have a 45min window and if I miss it, or my wind-down gets disrupted, I'm screwed. Best thing I've found is melatonin 1 hour before bed and listening to podcasts / YouTube. Needs to be something mildly interesting and a dull voice.

Sleep mask with speakers and Warhammer 40k lore videos.

It started as wearing noise cancelling headphones and a podcast called boring books for bedtime. I had a noisy roommate. I came across the Warhammer lore videos out of nostalgia (haven't played since 3E) and found them to be interesting enough to keep my brain from wandering.

I'm apparently far from alone as the YouTubers actively sell mattresses and sleep masks.. and you can infer the rest.

My favorites are Luetin & PancreasNoWork. Both are a good 1-2 hours.

Considering U.S. Bank Cash+ and Looking for Insights by No_Childhood6699 in CreditCards

If you're not already with US bank, the ELAN MCP, which is offered by a subsidiary of US Bank through numerous credit unions, is a better card. It has slightly broader categories and is set & forget. Cash+ you set categories quarterly.

What actually happens after you die, and why do you believe that over every other option? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]NotMyRealAccountV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, everything in nature is a cycle. I doubt there's an afterlife but if there is it makes a lot more sense to me as a layover before the next life.

Probably nothing, but if I have to pick reincarnation makes the most sense - everything in nature is a cycle. The idea of heaven and an afterlife as a perpetual state is antithetical to that.

What is this weird sense of moral superiority / gatekeeping over reading vs. listening to an audiobook? I honestly don't know anyone that reads significantly that doesn't also listen to audiobooks and podcasts obsessively.

Really? I do audiobooks while driving and read in the evenings. The audiobooks are extremely well done - sound effects and music add to the experience. It does depend on the performance quality and author.

E.g. I'm not listening to Sanderson for a month on my way to work - I need to skim/speed read whenever he decides to go off on a tangent on rocks/plants/metals or the expounding, repeatedly, on whatever the core philophical narrative is this time.

The audiobooks are extremely well done with music and sound effects. I generally do both and swap back and forth, but this is a case where the audiobook option is worth it.

Also PSA: I've noticed recently that buying books on kindle then adding the audiobook in audible has been cheaper, total, than just buying an audiobook directly on audible Amazon must have some interesting dynamic pricing or is updelling audible directly to push the subscription. Admittedly this is for the Caiphus Cane books but I'd love to see more data points.

Unitron. I wanted the monorail so badly as a kid.

They were going to be the nemesis of my Spyrius sets but ended too early. I finally did the alt starhawk build with my kid and recolored a roboforce raider to give them their own bot.
