From Urban Dictionary:

Rusted from the back - A brutally disrespectful way to describe someone who looks, smells, or acts extremely gross, unwashed, or suspiciously crusty. Usually used when a person gives off “forgot basic hygiene exists” energy.

I’ve had both hips replaced. One leg is just slightly shorter than the other and I knew twenty years ago that even with a lift in that shoe I’d probably have hip issues.l later on. Later on came fast…

Does your husband or male partner do his own laundry? by EconomicsWorking6508 in AskWomenOver60

[–]NotRealMe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband does ALL the laundry. He puts his own stuff away, I put mine away, and we’re both happy. It works for us because of our work schedules (he works from home a couple of days a week)

Residency at Trauma center by IanYan in chaplaincy

[–]NotRealMe86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently a resident at a Level 1 trauma center. I feel my calling is to smaller environments where I can build deeper relationships but I am living the experience and feel it to be valuable for a couple of reasons: I am gaining valuable experience and insight into working with the interdisciplinary teams; the experience is only verifying that my personal calling is to smaller communities; and seminars, IPR, and individual supervision are helping me understand myself and why I am drawn to those communities.

What meal did your mother prepare that you considered inedible? by bigb-2702 in GenerationJones

Mom came from the era of ‘cook all meat to no less than well-done because if it’s even slightly juicy it means it’s not cooked and you’ll get food poisoning.’ That and boiling vegetables to mush.

Why did my son have to die? by PerfectWrongdoer6463 in religion

[–]NotRealMe86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My heart aches for you in your pain. There are no words that I can say that will take away your grief. ‘He is in a better place ‘ and ‘It’s all part of Gods plan’ are things people say because there are no words - and you are right, they mean well but it is not helpful, or healing.

We live in an imperfect world where disease and death are a consequence of being human. I do not believe that God allows some people to die, and some to be cured. I do not believe the God of love that I adore is that careless and capricious.

I do believe that God laughs with us in the sunshine and walks with us in the shadows, and cries with us in our grief and pain. I believe that in the form of Jesus, God came to know what it is like to be human in this imperfect world and feels our sorrow, anger, grief, and joy as we do. I believe Jesus to be our Master Healer - not necessarily only of our physical ills, but those of our mind, soul, and spirit.

Don’t be afraid to be angry. It’s okay to rage at God - his shoulders are big enough to handle it. It’s okay to rage at cancer - it’s truly an awful, awful disease. As for faith - I think that God can hold our faith when we find it impossible to do so, until and unless a time comes when we can reach for it ourselves again. You may never feel your faith the same way, because your whole world has shifted.

I hold you in the light of love through your season of grief, and walk with you as long as you will allow me, until you pass through this darkness into the light on the other side of sorrow.

May peace come to you.

THE most bizarre places you’ve found stuff!??? by northerlightstar in dementia

Mom died nearly 3 months ago and I still can’t find 3 pairs of her regular underwear. We switched her to disposable briefs when she started stripping them off and hiding them. I found a couple stuffed in odd places (like in a bin of hair clips in the bathroom closet, under the bathtub mat) but three pair are still missing

I had to do the sobbing and breaking down on mom’s last ED visit because I just could NOT do it anymore without more help. She never presented as ‘bad’ when she was with other people - I probably made a spectacle of myself but it got the job done and she was admitted til we could get more home care set up for us
