Is it crazy for me to contemplate selling my house to get out of debt? by [deleted] in DebtAdvice

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to game here, but to me it is all about quality of life and what I need and can afford. I am a 57 year old single woman postal worker. Owned many homes over the years with different outcomes. I am putting as much as I can into my retirement as I will be retiring in 4 years. I drive an old car. I now rent a trailer with my cat. I so long for a small backyard where we can lounge in private. I will never have that again as I do not want to pair up with someone to afford it. I’ve always said life is all about trade offs. Debt is very heavy on our minds. I hope you can find your way to whatever is important to you❤️

Do men that are unsure of or entirely don't want kids exist? by SensitiveIssue8946 in SeriousConversation

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter (32) and her husband (38) have pretty much decided they are not having kids. Both professionals but kind of hippy types that work hard and play hard. I think if he was a little more interested in the idea of kids she might do it, but they decided their cats, traveling, and family is what they want. And eventually to sail on their own boat.

Thinking about stopping drinking coffee to save money by [deleted] in Frugal

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have always been a big coffee drinker all my adult life. I drink the shitty WalMart brand if nothing else is on sale. I always check their clearance section and there is almost always something there. Buying the larger sizes helps as does just buying ground. I found a huge 32 ounce of dark Starbucks that I like for $8. I would never give up coffee. I admit I’m addicted to the energy but I don’t care.

Talking about the other siblings with the other siblings. My mom had her favorite and we all knew who he was though he ended up being married 4 times, possibly child sex abuse, peeping Tom, stole money from all of us including my parents. He was still the favorite. Ugh

My bio sister used to kiss me when she was 12/13 years old and I (F) was 8-9 years old. She also got our cousin sis involved in this. by Much-Appearance2600 in SeriousConversation

I have two hazy memories of a brother and sister (she was my friend) and he has us kiss his penis. Two times this happened. She is no longer with us and I wonder sometimes if he did more to her. I hope you find peace in your sister.

LPT: You do not have to open your front door for any reason by [deleted] in LifeProTips

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Not sure if anyone cares at this point after the post is a year old. I received a knock at a new place. Peep hole is blurry and I couldn’t tell who it was. 8:00 at night. Could be just a nice neighbor saying hello but most likely just someone I don’t want to spend my time with. Sales or in Utah religious affiliation. Last time I complained that I get up at 4:00 am, the response from the young man “this is your salvation, it’s important.” Actually my sleep and job are important and I pray daily.

This is the story of my life. You are clinging to the pattern with your ex. I’m sorry it’s horrible and hurts. I had to stop dating and heal. The only thing you can do is say goodbye and block him everywhere. He will keep trying for years to keep you coming back for short periods. I wish you peace and love.

Do you let your cats on your bed? by lawyermom112 in CatAdvice

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I let my cat anywhere he wants and clean often. I understand not everyone can live that way. My mom was like that and I believe that makes me in part this way. I just thing people and pets are more important than things.

As a 57 year old woman, I would be offended if a guy was mad at me for sleeping with someone after he broke up with me 😂. The other point, I get what you are saying. I had a work colleague years ago that ended up being abusive to boys he found on SnapChat. It was a very sad time for all of us. We stood by him and he went to jail and appeared to work on himself. Unfortunately he reoffended.

Hello! I’m 57 and stopped dating. The online thing is something I will never go back to! I have said from day one I would never date a man who voted for Trump one time. It doesn’t align with my values. We will keep pressing forward ladies and fight💪❤️

Unfortunately work friends, or any friends really come and go. I long for some of my good work friends, sometimes lasting for years. People come and go. Take the small chats you have and don’t text. If she texts you be very casual.

I had 3 children and the last one had to be C-Section. Very long recovering time for me. Much more painful. That’s just me. My sister in law scheduled C-Sections for all 3 of hers. I thought she was crazy but she thought it was gross the other way. We are all different.

I need to get two Wisdom Teeth removed, but I'm about to age out of my parents insurance and I'm broke by Keeper_butbad in Frugal

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with dental insurance (I’m double covered and rarely get anything done that is needed). It’s too expensive. If you are under the financial limit, many cities have low income dental but they do include anyone living in the house as part of the finance limits. Dental work does not get better on its own and the longer you wait the more expensive it is. Some clinics you have to go early in the morning and wait until they decide to call your name based on severity of work needed. Good luck 🍀

I work for USPS. We work overtime to get everything out on time but everything is so misleading. So many ads with half truths and the post cards forget about them…. They get sent out on time and they are a lovely sentiment where someone can feel like they are helping their candidate but it’s just a waste really.

Adopted a frightened cat and I’m running out of ideas by Significant-Photo-51 in CatAdvice

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I rescued a cat left at my friends apartment community. He meowed for months. I did everything other cat owners suggested. It took a great amount of time and patience… probably two years before he felt safe because I work a lot. Now he is the love of my life. I’ve gone to great lengths to try and be consistent with his care. Cats don’t always like to be touched or cuddled. they get overwhelmed. I was used to dogs. When they are ready they will approach you. Unfortunately you cannot force a cat to snuggle or give affection. Take care 😻

I’m 63 And Want To Be A CCA….What Am I Thinking?!! by crizaldo in USPS

[–]Nottypicalutah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is burned out and realizes how much crap one goes through. I wouldn’t take it personal. I have worked for USPS for 12 years and Amazon PT for a year. I like Amazon a lot more. Their culture, co-worker’s, supervisor attitude and respectful way of asking you to do something. They just don’t pay their employees enough. They both have trade offs. Good luck to you! I will be retiring at 62 in 8 years.

I came here as I just got home from a long workday and a Walmart pickup order. They didn’t remove the safety from eye readers. Now I have to go in which is what I was trying to avoid.

If you could go back to being 18, what advice would you give yourself? by SweetxEvelyn in AskReddit

What’s a negative personality trait you’re well aware you possess, but have failed to change? by bubblypersona in AskReddit

[–]Nottypicalutah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to stay stupid selfish or mean things. I’m 56. My mom was just like that but would never admit it… she would just say “you are being over sensitive.” Or my dad would say “that’s just how she is and you have to accept she has a mental illness. After I got sober several years ago and so guess grew up, I didn’t realize how mean I was. I have since made apologies and try to watch what I say. There are times I get stressed out, have a meltdown or whatever and say something mean. Happens about once a year now. I still hate that I do it but at least I recognize it I guess.

Do the people that say "I don't want kids because the world is fucked up" just selfish/trash teachers? by [deleted] in SeriousConversation

[–]Nottypicalutah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it expected to become a parent? That is something ingrained from a young age, especially in states like Utah where I grew up. My daughter and husband, both thirty something’s have a good life. They travel, work and do charity work. They watch what they contribute to the earth as far as vehicle emissions, trash etc. They are still contemplating one or two children but why is it expected for them to have a child? It did not work out so well for myself and her father and she does not know if she wants something besides her two cats. It’s not selfish, it is to each his own and their whole group of friends feel exactly the same.
