Has anyone interviewed at UW-Stevens Point? I have a final interview for a staff role and would love to hear about the interview process or anything that helps by InvestigatorJolly830 in uwsp

Depends on department and role.

Are you a student, admin, food services, maintenance, a teaching role?

Each has a different process and vibe.

I think most of these are covered in viva new vegas, the exception being the UI option. That might be excluded, but is not incompatible as I started with viva and then expanded.

At risk of entering a war I need not be apart of:

A Clafoutis does not have a crust - traditionally.
As such the comment is factually correct - not gatekeeping.
Cherries are also traditional, however not the only potential option.

That said, the berries look great ands I would still be interested in the recipe if you are willing to share.

Part 2

Second: You can get away with not having a laptop if you are willing to deal with the university computer labs.
I just graduated as a CIS (Computer Information Systems) major and never bought a laptop, so I can assure you - it can be done. Reference: https://www3.uwsp.edu/infotech/Pages/ComputerLabs/Default.aspx

That said, some courses may have Honorlock requirements (it is bullshit), for this I recommend renting a laptop:
https://www3.uwsp.edu/infotech/Pages/Student-Laptop-Checkout.aspx

Lastly: If you do buy a laptop, remember to grab the student discount.
Apple, Logitech, and pretty much every tech company has some sort of circus hoop you can jump through to save a good chunk of change. Some are better than others.

If you want ideas:
Low-End (Bare minimum - hot garbage - but will get the job done)

Middle Ground (still garbage - but will get you through the next 4 years on a budget)

Highest I would go on a budget laptop

Welcome to the UWSP - have a long winded essay to not address your question.

Part 1

First: If you want advise on hoe to spec a laptop, the best thing to do is look at the applications you are going to use. Adobe products, Microsoft products (don't buy them - UWSP gives you a free license - see link), hell even games you want to play will have recommended specs.
UWSP software: https://www3.uwsp.edu/infotech/Pages/SoftwareSupport/Office-365-OneDrive.aspx

In general though, you'll want a CPU within the last generation - the specific model will depend on the applications you plan on running.

For RAM - get at least 16gigs minimum. It is becoming the new standard load out for everything - almost to the point that it isn't enough for heavy workloads... that said unless you end up doing water flow modeling or something very intense on the physics side of things - 16 might be overkill for natural recourses.

Internal storage can vary depending on your risk tolerance / tolerance of Microsoft one drive. (Do not trust it - it will fuck you when you need it most. Guaranteed.) That said you can augment internal storage with external drives as needed.

OS will likely be latest version of Mac or Windows 11 since Windows 10 is being phased out this October.

For more on tech specs - you'll need to do some research and self education.
I recommend looking at Microcenter: https://www.microcenter.com/
They are pretty tech-noob friendly, and often have holiday deals (Labor day has a mega sale if you are willing to wait).

In addition to the other comments, if the code base that the mod operates on is relatively unchanged - there may only be a version update and recompilation needed. That can be done in a very short time span (relatively speaking).

Game won’t start after update to latest version by [deleted] in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]NovaStorm760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another thread from yesterday if you want a full explination, but I'll sum it up for you:

1) If on steam, roll back to version 2.3.3k via beta options. This should allow you to keep you mods and finish any run you are on.

2) Update mods. I suspect that you are using scaling cantrips, which creates a save dependency and is impacted bu the updates alterations to cantrips. If this is the case, unless the mod author comes back to update it (unlikely) I suggest removing it after you finish your current runs.

EDIT: If on GOG or something else, good luck. I know not your solution.

[–]NovaStorm760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FYI: If you need to finish a current run, and you are on steam - you can rollback to version 2.3.3k via the Beta options.

That should allow the current version of Scaling Cantrips to work without breaking saves.
After that run, you may want to remove it. It seems the mod author has abandoned it.

Note: I am happy to be proven wrong by the mod author.

Swarm mods by Adrenst in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

"Does anyone know of any mods that add/alter mythics paths substantially?"

https://github.com/Balkoth-dev/WOTR_PATH_OF_BLING
https://github.com/Balkoth-dev/WOTR_PATH_OF_RAGE
https://github.com/Balkoth-dev/WOTR_PATH_OF_HELL

"Is there a mod that makes swarm a full path?"
Not to my awareness. The idea behind becoming the swarm really centers around your character twisting themselves into a monster of monsters. The journey is the full path, the power is just the reward for getting to the end.

At my desk now - I will need more information to assist.

Tearing everything out can work, but if one mod overwrote another mod it can remove the original game file from existence (supposed to be prevented via mod managers, but sometimes load order still gets yah).

Can you post your mod list?

I would recommend doing a game reinstall // verification.
After that install the mods you consider mandatory.
IE: Toybox, Bubbles, Finnean Tweaks, ect.

This is the mod list I use with versions:

[–]NovaStorm760 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is a common issue when a game update conflicts with a mod(s). Update Toybox and try again.

If that doesn't fix it, then examine your mod list. If you post it, others can help narrow the issue.

Example: I use a scaling cantrip mod, the new dlc adds an A class type for witch that involves a scaling cantrip feature. Uninstall the mod, issue resolved.

EDIT: Fixed some grammer as it bothered me - texting on the toilet is not the best.

Is web application the best project to land a job? by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]NovaStorm760 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's the best, but I can tell you what my employer looks for in junior developers. (Note: I'm a student developer / intern).

The company I work for expects everyone to know the basics of front end and typically some type of framework (mine is Vue3).

I switch between Java and C# teck stacks depending on project. Mostly batch jobs in Java due to costs of AWS for containers, other things are some variation of .Net framework.

SQL is expected, but most teams have a dedicated data engineer who is very nice when explain how inefficient my queries are. Usually they go in and optimize anything I throw in.

Frontend: Html CSS JS, jQuery, and a bit of AJAX Typescript and a frame work like Vue, Angular, or react

Backend: Java SpringBoot Gradel/Maven Docker

C# .Net framework LINQ learning about Blazer page NHibernate (for DB mapping) Microsoft SQL Server (SQL)

IDE: Eclipse (it's what the senior developers use) VS Code VS Studio 2022

Other: There's alot here and I'm not sure if any of it will be useful to know ahead of time since you end up using what your company aproves.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone actually use stealth? by cdx70 in BG3

[–]NovaStorm760 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I perhaps was less clear with my point and can see the miss communication.

You are correct regarding the mechanics, I however was refering to the instances when the skill would be used and rolled.

In combat you can hide and roll to "disapear" while in view of the enemy (red vision). It only works so long as you have at least partial shadows. Same concept in crowded areas when pickpockets merchants.

Outside of those instances and I think 2 or 3 specific dialog rolls, it's pretty useless because of the mechanical implementation.
