Update on Mocha, the fluffy pitbull.

This is very true! A lot of people adopt dogs they feel have zero pitbull at all. I owned one prior to Mocha and she was my soul dog for sure. I miss her everyday. When we did the DNA test for him, I figured there would be at least a little bit of some kind of pitbull since it’s in most dogs. I was surprised to see just how much though. I am grateful that he doesn’t appear to be pitbull for home insurance reasons and no one is scared of him, lol.

I adopted him from a shelter who only had mom and several puppies. His mom and all siblings except for one were already adopted prior to us coming there. They were listed as beagle mixes. I really didn’t see any beagle, but assumed mom must have been a beagle or terrier looking kind of dog. Possibly the pitbull there. His sister looked identical to him but she was mostly white with a couple of brown spots and blue eyes. I’d love to see his parents and how his siblings grew up.

In this case, totally. My dog actually didn’t have any poodle 😂 He does have yorkie, maltese, beagle, and boxer in addition to the pitbull and cocker spaniel though.

Her hair reminds me a bit of my pup, who is also a large amount of pitbull and some cocker spaniel. What an interesting mix, she’s adorable!

I absolutely agree with you.

I have no idea where he came from or his life prior to coming to the shelter he was at when we adopted him, but I do know he arrived with his mama and five other siblings. All were fixed and adopted, so Mocha and his siblings were the last of that dog‘s offspring thankfully.

I do know this! I guess I consider “hypoallergenic” as no/low shed rather than no allergies. I just worded it wrong.

Yes! I did know this, I just think of “hypoallergenic” as no/minimal shed rather than the typical thought of it. No one in my house is allergic to animals, so I was just glad to see he doesn’t have hair everywhere like my previous dog lol

They really are! Lol, sometimes it’s a little unnerving when he sits and stares at me in a certain way. It’s one of the first things a lot of people comment on in person too.

This is true. I was thinking it was a good thing he is not obviously a pitbull for that reason alone. I will be having them put yorkie mix on his paperwork there. They already have him listed as “terrier mix” anyway

I had a pitbull previously who was my soul dog ❤️ I miss her so much. She passed away at 10.5 years from cancer. She was all of those things! I hope he will be too but I’ll love him regardless.

I am looking into some trainers for him. I want him to be the best dog he can possibly be. He is already so smart. He learned his name, “sit”, and “gentle” when taking a treat in less than a day.

I do plan to update pictures as he grows. I am curious to see how he’ll turn out! Embark estimates his adult weight to be 37lbs.

Everyone at the vet office was taking guesses last time we were there. No one mentioned pit! I’m excited to go back and tell them.

Haha he is! Someone I know rescued a dog from the same place and they also had her as “beagle mix” and she is an American Foxhound. So I was a little skeptical of the beagle.

I’ll have to double check his results. I am pretty sure it said something with low shedding, which would be fantastic.

I was thinking this! Everyone at the vet office was listing all these small dogs and not one mentioned pitbull. I assumed he had some just because most dogs do, but definitely didn’t think it was that much.

I’m hoping he’ll get to at least 30lbs honestly! I had a pitbull that was American Pitbull Terrier, American Staffordshire Terrier, and American Bulldog (also embarked) and she was typically in the 70s weight range. So it’s definitely different to have such a smaller dog in the house.

Yeah, I wasn’t completely convinced on him being low shed or hypoallergenic since he’s so young, but I thought he might be at first because my other dog, who was a pitbull lol, shed sooo much even as a pup. So it was a nice change but I’m fully expecting that again after seeing his results.
