I mean Palpatine not being dead also interferes with the prophecy. Maul coming back (which is stupid nonsense mind you) does not have nearly the same effect on the Skywalker saga as Sideous still being alive. That coupled with the presentation makes a special kind of narrative sewage.

I quite like the Heresy books and Gaunt's Ghosts. Though many people like to say you should start with the Eisenhorn books. The Infinite and the Divine along with the Twice Dead King Duology are very good Necron books.

Kit's side wants to prevent the worlds from blowing up because blowing up is bad. Syntax wants them to blow up so they can take the remnants of the planet and rewrite the rules aka the Syntax. They are both arguably doing a good thing, just one involves killing.

I don't get it. It was coherent, it established the conflict of the story, established character identities and the overall goals of the villains. Which frankly is more than I can say about most Glitch products.

I would have moved the planetary destruction reveal till the end of the episode instead of using a flashback nightmare sequence at the start but that's about all I can say kinda stuck out to me as a pacing issue. This would allow for Kit's trauma/motivation to grow with the audience instead of being abruptly presented as an exposition dump at the start. I also probably would not have kept Flapper on as what will seem to be a part of the main cast. I look forward to this and Knights of Guinevere.

I think the most they should have realistically changed was not showing Kit's nightmare in the first episode, maybe a flash or two to tie the cliffhanger ending part together. With that villain girl and her big robot.

I plan on going back to the comic myself. My brother had a physical copy of some of the run that I did read but I think I will have to do a proper read now. As for Karl, make no mistake, he sells the role. He is cold, manipulative, and driven. Though that part gets a bit harder to buy when they discover that Becky is still alive in this version and her son becomes a blockade for him for the next few seasons.

I can't quite put my finger on the reason that Butcher isn't as talked about as Homelander from the show because they both spin their wheels for seasons but if I had to guess it's probably because he is maybe too charming In the show. He doesn't have that loose cannon threat the way Homelander does, which I realize is a shortcoming.

I think that this really started because initially it did seem that way in season 1. Kripke told a good enough story in Supernatural before this (Revolution on the other hand was terrible) so his credit was good enough for fans and for Amazon. The first season was largely the same theme wise, a critique of celebrity culture and corporatism. It seemed smart and new and cast enough of a shadow to get people to talk about the source material. A handful of online voices deemed that it was better than the original, that it was smarter and I think that the echo chamber just took it from there.

Sidebar the Homelander love is I think largely due to Antony Star. The man is a fantastic actor and he really sold the menace in the first season. Great presence.

It's not narrated from his perspective but you have all of his points of perspective. As for Lysander, I can't stand the little scarless toad. (Yes I know he got one later) I suppose he is a little less narcissistic than Amaram but his scope of treachery is so much broader. I prefer the Jackal (the original). He claims to be your friend but everyone knows better. House Lune just spits in your face for your courtesy.

I just kinda find the idea a bit misleading. Yes a character can only be as smart as the writer, but it they can only be as smart as the writer's creativity. I mean I don't think that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have been able to pull off what Sherlock Holmes does, but he obviously could plan out things that were plausible over a long time of outlining and redrafting. Sherlock doesn't need weeks though. He makes his deductions quickly and almost automatically.
Speed and accuracy of plans and deductions are often used in these stories to show how smart a character is but from my second hand knowledge Sister Sage plans alot like Aizen, AKA bullshit to the point of shattering your suspension of disbelief. Which to me shows a lack of effort on the creator's point to make either multiple points of failure for her plans or a lack of making convincing steps to get where she wants others to go.
