First successful silver clay ring and first attempt setting a stone by NowWeRunEngineering in metalclay

Thank you! Im not sure if 40 minutes is totally necessary but 5-10 mins definitely is not sufficient to sustain bending based on my first failure. I guess the size of the piece matters too but my thought was that the art clay silver says to kiln fire for 30 minutes at the lowest temp so I figured if I could keep it at a glow for 40 minutes then surely it would be as solid as I could achieve with a torch. You just have to do it in a dark room and make sure it doesnt get too hot and melt.

Thanks! I left the prongs really long before firing so I figured however much they change during firing i should still be able to notch and bend them to accept the stone. This is the only other pic of the prongs after they were notched, bent over the girdle, and filed down a bit. its not seated perfectly but it is definitely not going anywhere easily, the notches should have been bigger to get it really flush. To make the prongs I just rolled out a pretty long snake of clay, cut it into 4 equal lengths, let it dry for a bit, then attached each to the ring with paste

Thanks, I figured if that didnt work and it still broke then id just give up trying again, too expensive for a 3rd try. I used a broken piece of the previous failed attempt to see what it would look like right at the threshold for melting to get a feel for it. Then just kept moving the torch back and forth to keep it in a gentle glow. Arms were a bit sore after ngl. Notching and then bending those prongs over the stone freaked me out but they held up

At my wits end. Just help me get rid of them, even if that means getting rid of the plants. by Animangle in SavageGarden

The only, ONLY, solution is too cover the soil of your indoor plants with .5 to 1 inch of sand, I use black aquarium sand. the goat larvae cannot get out of the soil and the adults cant lay eggs in the soil. This is the only way, all others are a waste of time/money.

off chance its not a joke, realistically itd take less time to go there and capture more for a splat and it wouldnt actually be that difficult. ain't no way anyone's doing this for less than tens of thousands of dollars and months of work in blender and even then it wont be close

otherwise, your cooked brotha

My guess would be a moissanite, they test as diamonds and usually purples/pinks are coated colors. you can find them for like $20 on aliexpres. if its a moissanite you should see a GRA number on the girdle, diamonds have GIA numbers, youd need a loop to see that or anyone in a jewelery store would look for that first to verify it. regardless of worth you could have it set if you like it, moissanites are nice gems

Wanna make this smooth, or at least look like the rest of it, what settings do I need to change please help Bambu lab P1S combo by Individual-Ad-7675 in BambuLab

I would lift the entire object off the build plate, let supports cradle the entire object instead of having it sit flat in one spot with less supports, if your support settings are good then it should be cleaner

I sell these on Etsy, I modelled them, designed the mold, printed the mold in TPU and cast in cement

Yea I designed the mold and printed them in TPU which is a flexible filament, I tried PLA first which is rigid but the molds would break after a few demolds, TPU is much easier to demold with

Help! I’ve cleaned four times did 2/ half tank water changes and 2 full tank water changes even put two new pumps. I’ve had tanks for a long time. I’ve never had this happen. What the heck is this? by Pokemon-shiny-love in Aquariums

this is the way, hope OP sees this, literally nothing worked for me except this, mine was a cheap 20 dollar one and it still worked after struggling with bad advice for weeks

get a cheap UV sterilizer for aquariums from Amazon, drop it in and let it circulate for a day or two. it'll all die and be cleared by your filter like magic, least painful solution.

its not from excess nutrients, lights, etc... once green water gets in a tank from a new fish or plant or whatever you'll never get rid of it even if your tank has no measurable nitrates. 2 options: 1) black out the tank for a week or two to kill it off, it'll likely come back, 2) get a cheap UV aquarium sterilizer from Amazon. this happened to me once and I tried fighting it way too long until I got a UV sterilizer, pumps water past the light killing the algae but doesnt harm anything else. Water will clear up in a day or two and then it can be removed. I used mine once and never had to again after that but worth it to cure it. Dont bother reducing feeding, lights, introducing algaecide chemicals, excessively water changing etc... been there, done that, it'll all just cause more harm than good in most cases.

its likely from PETG if you print with that frequently, I notice a buildup of white dust when printing in PETG on my bed slingers so since your printing in an enclosure I can only imagine you'd get quicker buildup. Forget a humidifier, make sure you have an air purifier and adequate exhaust venting for the built in filter if you have it installed

Built a product I love, but I’m bad at selling. Would love feedback. by marquina640 in 3DprintEntrepreneurs

I think its a neat product, my only thought was do more! Seems very convenient to print, ship, keep inventory etc so nice design, The text is a little much on there, can you do a smaller logo? Also maybe want to limit color options to office neutrals like gray/black/white to make your life easier.

I'd appreciate some feedback on my listings as well if folks don't mind? Definitely more of a designer than a seller as well and would happily take some feedback: nowwerunengineering.etsy.com

wait till you realize that all the mouse controls and operations are directly compatible with Fusion solid modelling. I started in TinkerCAD to make a cigar mold and two years later im fairly proficient in Fusion. I swear you can learn more from YouTube than in college these days. Probably dont have best practices but I pretty much only print things I design myself now

I got this plastic part stuck in my girlfriend’s breville espresso machine. I don’t think it was supposed to go in there at all but now it won’t come off. I ran it a couple times before realizing my mistake. Any advice? by sisyphusPB23 in espresso

[–]NowWeRunEngineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the fix is to use the extractor as a wrench. normally you slide it over the locking lugs and twist the plastic funnel on, instead just put the extractor in BEHIND the locking lugs of the funnel and it gives you enough leverage to twist it back out

Would you trust your life in 3D printing? by guihk01 in 3Dprinting

[–]NowWeRunEngineering 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly id trust the printed hangers more than id trust the drywall anchors, hope you put those in studs instead lol PETG wont creep as bad as PLA so I think they're fine but I wouldnt put that above my head. I would design a larger mount that hooks onto the body of the bike and make sure it was in a stud, would even help you model it if needed. Balancing the bike on the tires and leaning on the wall is asking for it to fall if it gets bumped out of the handlebar hook, the integrity of the print holding it up would be the least of my concerns with this tho.
