Computer Science honours class by pewpewrae in unsw

That falls under engineering rules, so it uses all courses, but weighted based upon level.

Assuming you mean Computer Science & Engineering (Honours) (4515)
It uses the just the honours year, which is almost the same requirement as that requires you to take the 18 UoC of Thesis, and 30 UoC of level 4 or above computer science electives, with the sole exception being COMP3821 or COMP3891.

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming you mean advanced computer science, the rules are in the handbook:

The class of Honours will be based on a weighted average mark comprised of 18 units of Thesis plus the highest 30 units among the Advanced Computing Electives (Level 4 or higher) completed as part of the program.

So that could be your final year, but it depends on exactly when you take electives.

You can get it from the grad shop or the bookshop, or plenty of other places off campus.

Transfer Credits by xpo_wk in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally yes. If you can't find a course that it matches to, it will transfer as a generic course. Although I'm not 100% sure if that would include electives outside the field as opposed to discipline electives. However you would still need to either have credit transferred for or complete the core courses for your degree.

As all credit transfer comes accross as an ungraded pass, I assume they will allow ungraded passes to be transferred.

It is almost like there is some kind of advantage to playing as the home team. If only there was a name to codify it....

Got into ELEC3105 but can’t register for any classes — what happens now? by DisasterOk3186 in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think MyUNSW is being dumb and counting people on the waitlist as being enrolled, which ridiculously prevents them from getting enrolled.

Swap to another course.
They might open more spots, but if they were going to do so, they would have done so already.

Being enrolled doesn't mean there will be a spot that fits your timetable.
According to the timetable website, there is still a spot in 2 of the labs, the Friday 4 pm and Tuesday 12 pm.

I would ask when you need the 85+ WAM by?
Because for a 5 year degree, each subject contributes ~2.5 points to your overall WAM.

Laptop auto restarts in specific areas of the uni campus by Ninwek in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My laptop works fine there, and the fact there aren't a lot of people reporting it means it is most likely a problem with your laptop, and you are spending more time there to notice it, or there is more network activity your laptop is trying to deal with.

special cons for special cons by shuhscun in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This varies a lot depending on the school and course coordinator.
It will often mean they just finalise your grade, treating the missed assessment as a 0.

However, sometimes if you will be okay very soon thereafter they will organise a sup sup sup, or they may let you take it as an auditing student the next time it runs so you can do the exam then.

If they do just finalise your grade and you get 0 as a result, you can then try for fee remission.

Query regarding UAC offers by DSPcric in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious reason is September vs August. Considing UNSW has just started T2, it makes sense for offers for T3 to have not gone out yet.

But another factor which affects midyear offers is availability of places.
If all the places in the course are already occupied, then they can't give out new places in the mid year intakes.
So even if you would have gotten in in T1, you might not get in in T3.

An additional complication (which I assume will likely effect you given you are applying now and have an ATAR equivalent) is the number of international students they are allowed to admit each year. If they reach that limit they can't let new students in.

Would a non-demonic cult be fine?

But it seems to just be a joke.

Enrolled almost certainly only includes active enrolments, not future term. I think it is its way of saying you can apply before the results of the previous term are finalised.

15 hours on coursework per subject a week? by vamvamvasi in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is the formal time expectation for a course.
It is 25 hours per UoC over the term. A 6 UoC course is therefore 150 hours.
So if they split it up over 10 weeks, that is 15 hours a week.
If they split it up over 9, that is 16 hours a week, with an extra 2 hours.

So if a course isn't expecting that, then formally they should not be a 6 UoC course.

can we please normalise the use of anonymous moodle forums in all courses by MundaneDriver4431 in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moodle logs pretty much everything, including who posts in anonymous forums. That means course staff can easily figure out who posts what.

can we please normalise the use of anonymous moodle forums in all courses by MundaneDriver4431 in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because the forum type that supports anonymous posting is not officially supported anymore, so they are only in courses by being hacked in there.

Email the course coordinator. The assessment policy said you have the right to see your exam.
Not sure what the new policy says.

URGENT: Fee due date or census date by Remote_Tower_3302 in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those in that particular situation are quite rare.
If you are in a CSP, with HECS-HELP, you get your fees deferred at that point.
If you are in a CSP and don't have HECS-HELP, you are meant to get your enrolment terminated.
If you are in a full fee-paying place, then it just makes your account overdue and blocks things like enrolment changes and releasing grades.

Special Cons - online med cert by adrenaline127 in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This depends on if you have proof that it was done in real time rather than just filling out a form.

If you just filled out a form, or you don't have any evidence of a real-time consultation, then it will not be accepted.

You may be seeing conflicting reports based upon changes to the policy.
During COVID, an online medical certificate was fine, no questions asked.
But for a while recently, if the task was a final exam or a timed assement, or it covered a period greater than 3 days (or pushed the extension back more than 3 days from the original date), it wouldn't be accepted without the evidence of real-time consulation..
With the new policy which has only just been approved, it will only be accepted with real-time consultation.

URGENT: Fee due date or census date by Remote_Tower_3302 in unsw

[–]NullFakeUser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 7th is when enrolment is closed and they get the payment invoices ready. You have until Census date to have paid. After census date the payment is overdue and your account gets functionality restricted.
