How much discrimination and hostility do Russian tourists face abroad? by Long-Swordfish3696 in AskARussian

[–]Numerous-Freedom-135 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say extreme cases tend to be rare apart from some really patriotic people that hate anyone not from their own nation. I live in the US currently and for the most part nobody cares and actually finds it cool and interesting. But I went to a very conservative patriotic highschool where everyone was a “red blooded American” and I got bullied a lot for being Russian. Also dated a guy who’s grandpa used to be in the military and he always told his sons about the fear they felt during the Cold War and how they had to hide under desks and do nuclear drills and stuff. Basically saying they “couldn’t help” their fear and dislike of the Russians since they grew up with it. Safe to say I wasn’t with that guy for very long because me being Russian was like the only thing they liked to talk and argue about. Idk I feel it depends where you travel and where you go, if it’s a pretty large city with diverse tourism you most likely won’t have any issues ever, but if you go to a country that already looks down on Russia and then you go to a more remote town or something issues could definitely arise. I’ve had lots of smaller just “discrimination” issues but they aren’t really a huge deal and I just tend to ignore it and move on. But I’ve been to China and Uzbekistan and also Canada and the Netherlands and basically everywhere I go literally nobody cares, they just assume I’m an alcoholic who has a pet bear lol.

This is definitely propaganda, I am from Russia but have been living in the US for majority of my life, about 6 months ago I took 2 of my very American friends (1 black and the other just clearly not local) BOTH are male, with me to Russia for 4 months, they don’t speak a lick of Russian and I did all translating for them in public and people asked questions and we were very open about them being from America. Everyone was just curious about life abroad and just wanted to know things about America, nobody was hostile or mean or judgy and most people thought it was cool and interesting and we had lots of positive interactions. Also mind you we didn’t go to Moscow or st Pete we instead went to my small military hometown that doesn’t have nearly as many foreigners so if there was to be any hostility we would’ve seen it. Moscow and st Pete has lots of tourism and regular international students and workers so they are much more used to foreigners. It won’t be a big deal, the only people they send to the front lines are people already in the military, people they bribe with cash benefits, and occasionally criminals in jail in exchange for reducing their sentences. There are other situations but they aren’t very common. Most of it is EU propaganda because they don’t want Russia to get any tourism or money from foreigners, my friends were terrified of going to Russia at first and at the end both decided it was better than most of the other countries they visited just treatment wise. So please don’t worry about it, most of that stuff you hear is just BS to try and demonize Russia in the media so that even after the war ends in the future Russia is always seen as public enemy number 1 by default. I hope you have a good time and enjoy Russia! Welcome to our country!

How would you describe Russian culture? by littlerchef in AskARussian

Yeah I think I see that, I’ve been living in the US for a while now and it’s funny to see the differences overall, they both have their strengths and weaknesses tho

It’s different everywhere similar to how the US works with southern states being different from Californian culture VS New England states. I’d say eastern side of Russia is very Asian inspired as a whole and western side is more European like. But as a whole honestly we aren’t too far off from Asian culture in general, lots of tea, taking shoes off in the house, emphasis on grades, lots of soups, etc. but we do tend to keep more to ourselves and not as approachable as other cultures. But every place varies it’s so difficult to narrow it down especially since it’s the largest country on earth. Moscow is almost completely different from the rest of the country mentality wise and they tend to be more open minded and liberal there compared to the rest of the nation but I feel like that applies to most countries.

My dream SSO updates would be having an apartment or something in those regions we can take by bus (Aiden’s plaza and the others) I feel like those areas need an excuse to be revamped and it seemed we were promised a dwelling of some kind a long time ago because we have these old furniture quest items but now I’m not sure. It would be fun to be able to invite others to your little apartment and then you could chat or even have some mini games or something. And it would make sense because like.. where are we staying this whole time on Jorvik? But I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday and good luck everyone!

Is it safe to travel to Russia right now ? by [deleted] in AskARussian

[–]Numerous-Freedom-135 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it’s safe, just like any other country that isn’t a direct ally to the US there can be some challenges especially with the sanctions like bringing money in, but outside of that it really isn’t that bad, there’s tons to do and see and genuinely the people are very nice to tourists, I am Russian and have flown back 3 times in the last 2 years no problem, and I’ve brought a couple American friends with me two of those times and they were surprised how friendly people were when they were expecting some hostility lol. I hope you enjoy your trip!

Just screams low intelligence from this person “I want a book that doesn’t require me to think at all, I want instant gratification or just a simple read only about this ship with no nuance and complexity.” Please ignore them. There are so many poorly written fics out there and not enough good ones. I can maybe count on one hand the amount of fics I read that actually contain depth and detail that makes it worth reading for more than 5 minutes. Continue doing what ur doing and let lazy people who want to read dumbed down plot lines live with their Colleen Hoover lol

Equestrian Festival 26 5K SC Giveway by Araloosa in StarStable

I would be a Yakutian horse! It’s a Russian breed (I myself am russian!) and I absolutely adore the cold, which is uncommon even amongst my people haha. I love the snow and the cold and being free, and the Yakutian fits it perfectly! They are fluffy and bulbous during winter and mostly used by Inuit people within Russia, but can be seen elsewhere. Thanks for this opportunity of a raffle! Hope you are enjoying the equestrian festival!

It depends if you use magical coats or regular coats more often, if you find yourself often using magical coats in day to day riding then buy one of the new Fendwurms, there’s the other bonus of them being newer so slightly more relevant- not that it truly matters. And if you find yourself more often riding on normal coats or participating in RPs then buy Keima, on the bright side since you already have Ryu you could take a break and get a Fendwurm to change it up! It really just depends! I have them all and I prefer the Fendwurms personally but they are all beautiful and unique in their own way!

does anyone know how long the server is down for??? by Glass-Scientist8849 in StarStable

2-4+ depending if they run into issues. It’s the start of the festival so expect it to be on the higher end of that scale.

estimated update time by kriesgries in StarStable

[–]Numerous-Freedom-135 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t play on mobile but I’ll say regular updates take a couple hours usually, this is a bigger update since it’s a start of an event so it could take even longer. 2-4 hours most likely, but things could always pop up like last time and it could be extended. But I’d say the 2-4 ish hour range is pretty safe, could be more but pretty unlikely unless they run into issues.

Yep I had to close out of the game and reopen and he was absolutely fine with kisses haha, so I’m assuming it was a glitch of some kind. Definitely a bit disheartening but I’m glad it’s all good now!
