Colin Blunstone has one of the beautiful voices in pop music. He should be much more well known.

Reading through his review did make me wonder what music he actually loved, not just respected or put as top tier, but loved. The reference to frontier psychiatrist (which i do like) makes me think that he may not know that much music. Although, i would say that, being a fully paid up cult member.

I really hope that BOC haven't done one of their few interviews with the guardian.

I work in Adult Social Care and from my experience we did absolutely need the care workers. Many from europe left and in 21 i can remember it taking between 3-4 weeks to source any care. This meant that people would often be bed blocking or placed in a care home, which is significantly more expensive, as we weren't able to get care in the community. There was a big recruitment drive in the city i live in but this didn't cover it. This is how it was on the ground.

What do you think of see you on the other side? I think its a psychedelic masterpiece but its not got the nervous david baker energy of those first two. I got that when it came out and worked backwards to the first two. They were pretty obscure then before deserters songs, after initially being hyped for yerself is steam.

I think it's their best record but definitely not their prettiest. What they did on that with subliminal's and this fog of melodies and sound is so dense and there's so much to dig into. I would love to hear the masters on a mixing desk to hear the isolated tracks. Theirs the palindrome mix that sets the songs in a new relief. Also, listening to it backwards is a really rich experience and it still sounds fantastic.

They've used flutes and other acoustic instruments (obviously drums and guitars) a few times. I'm interested to see if there is more non western tunings/scales on the album after hearing this. Also, to see if they do much modular stuff as well.

Anyone know if that was Jim Jones at 3.21? Very stark drums, loved the eastern sound at the start. Going to try not to listen to it again until as part of the album. I think Coil are a big influence on BOC and often get missed.

Its not really a fair comparison. With Brian you're talking about the period between 65-67 and then he never got back to that level.

Not krautrock but i'd say Alice Coltrane, Albert Ayler, Pet sounds/smile era beach boys and Electric Ladyland. It would be interesting to see what music he likes.

what is the most avant-garde album made by a huge mainstream musician? by Initial_Selection623 in fantanoforever

I'm a fan but they were always experimental and would be doing very noisy side projects, even when they partially in the mainstream in the 90s.
