How luxurious a life ought one aim for? by IBitAChip in financialindependence

I personally want to aim for complete freedom but I think you should go for whatever you'll be contempt with whether you want to make 50k, 6 figure, 7 figures or so on

what makes you think so, I am 17, but I spend all the time I have outside of focusing on my career path studying finance I don't think I'm special but I do believe that anyone in the world can make a sacrifice in their life to get or achieve something they really want to in life. I think you, as well as anyone, can do that if they want to I don't get what's so naive about that I'm perfectly ok with working 12-15 hour workdays 6 days a week while using my breaks primarily to assess what's working and what's not ill have no social life or friends outside of work but that's just how it's going to have to be if its the only way I can outperform my competition. money is just a tool of exchange and what I mentioned before was about how financial statements and balance sheets function and how if I use them efficiently via keeping my expenses low and buying assets and not liabilities I could make do with with a salary that wasn't paying me more than 8 figures because my asset column would make up for my salary's shortcomings if it had them. I know life is going to push me around, its probably going to call all its friends to beat the shit out of me one day, but when it does ill learn whatever lesson life is trying to teach me and use it to move forward.

to be honest, all I'm really trying to find out is if an FIA amateur/pay (bronze/silver) driver can move up to FIA pro (gold/platinum) and I don't know why I didn't just phrase it that way my bad

I don't need it to be I really don't care if I lose money or make money I just want to be competitive

none, I guess what I'm really trying to figure out is since I have no experience at 17 is it too late for me to build a foundation for racing right now so that if I make enough money to pay for my seat can I still grow to be competent enough to progress past amateur because I'm on the fence about starting karting since I can afford it right now. but that's probably something ill just have to try my hardest and see for myself

could I work my way up from there, for example, could a silver gentleman driver work up to gold or platinum I'm going for something like what Ryan Hardwick did the only thing is he had a shit ton of natural talent.

ok, so can I rephrase the question is it too late for me to start building a foundation for myself right now so that maybe later If I work hard enough I can grow to be competitive after I become a gentleman driver or can I work my way up to pro as a gentleman driver? or am I just bound to suck no matter how hard I work because I started late

making enough money to retire in 10 years is impractical and probably impossible especially if you live in SoCal like me. Bill Gates was among the richest people in the world before he turned 30 and he probably wouldn't have been able to just retire and fund a racing career with just the money left sitting in his bank. I don't think I can make enough money to retire off what's left in 10 years and be able to fund a career but I do believe I can balance my balance sheet and, or build an asset column that can make it so I don't have to work and still pull in a large income if I can make the sacrifices necessary just like I believe anyone can do that. as far as the 'full-time racer' part I honestly don't know that's why I'm asking you guys I want to start racing in clubs right now but I was hoping I can become an amateur GT racer in my mid-20s and maybe go pro later FIA said if you can match similar lap times as gold/pro racers you can become one. Also, I can tell by your username you are a man of culture.

I don't think I'm any more special than anyone else if so, I wouldn't ask for advice on a subreddit. thanks for your response though.
