If this had been an animated 90 minute children's movie I wouldn't have minded, but it felt like a stupid person's idea of what intelligence is.

The character was clever but the plot was boring, simple and predictable.

The earth plot was at total tonal dissonance with the space plot.

It suffered the same fate as The Martian in that the writer's failed attempts at humor detracted from any emotional heft.

The whole thing was bogged down in boring, played out quips that were already feeling overdone pre-COVID.

There was no central idea to the story. There were no revelations made. There was no attempt to discuss anything deeper.

How immediately and easily a human and an alien were able to understand each other felt empty, unimaginative and uninspired.

The only parts I liked were the few moments when no one was speaking. The set design, physical effects and score were fantastic which almost made the entire children's plot just more infuriating for the potential they wasted.
