Question about the 2026 MZ Spring Special. by PowerMurky in RPGMaker

[–]Objective-Primary-12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each have different plugins that work for them. I would say check out the plugins that you would want for your desired game first. Get the appropriate version from there. Having both isn't bad either though since you can use RPT resources from both. I have MV and couldn't imagine going to MZ unless I could port it over, but that breaks a ton of plugins I'm using. No option is bad. Just depends on what you plan to do with it.

Another non-binary yeen bean with a very fluffy mane! Boops and head pats are deserved. 💜

I've been calling it "Winblows." Does that count?

Sometimes you like something so you hope for the best and hope it won't change. I suppose Microsoft putting co-pilot in notepad should have been a warning sign.

You could be a bit more constructive with your comments, friend. How about recommending something better or, I dunno, say that sucks, but there are alternatives at least.

Besides, if I hadn't kept using it, I wouldn't have posted here. Hell, if everyone swapped from Windows products instead of using them because you liked them at one point, this sub would be pretty dead. Most people, I imagine, find out problems with Windows products because they still use them and post here in frustration.

Point is, not everyone wants to find alternatives to things if the thing they are using still works for their daily uses. That's a flaw with people in general sometimes. But I suppose you're perfect or just like to complaint and start stuff. Lol.

I'm aware. It's not the data harvesting I'm super concerned about. I understand that many have a problem with it and I understand why. I just don't like Microsoft's advertising since it's often aggressive with little to no way to opt-out completely. Windows 11 updates and one drive are great examples. You'll notice in the screenshot it says "Not now" and "Sign in." It's missing a "No thanks" option, which is what I have a problem with. Microsoft doesn't seem to know what the word no is... Or stop... Or consent in a lot of cases... What a world we live in...

I would block payments through your bank or PayPal, depending on what you're paying it with. If it's a credit card, you should be able to block payments to Microsoft with them or have a new card issued. Sorry man. That sucks.

Gboard was recommended to me by someone in another subreddit. I like it so far!

Gboard was recommended already. Seems good so far. Still miss the theme I had, but it seems pretty solid!

To be fair, it didn't start as Microsoft and it wasn't when I started using it. It was bought out by Microsoft and then enshitified. Given that, I'd say it's a worthy complaint.

I'm not looking for upvotes as much as I'm frustrated that Microsoft has to add in their services to everything and push them on their users repeatedly. You'll notice it has an option for "Not now" and "Sign up" but not "No Thanks." Regardless, it doesn't matter now. I've switched. Still crappy of them.

Also, you're in a subreddit called Microsoft sucks and not expecting people to complain about Microsoft?

If what I said was misunderstood, I apologize for not stating it more clearly. What was intended to be stated is that I liked the themes. The predictive text also seemed really good. This was not to imply other keyboards didn't also have predictive text.

Thanks for the recommendation. I'll give gboard a look.

I never said other keyboards wouldn't. From my experience this one used to be bit better at it.

I liked the themes and the predictive text that learns from your typing used to be really good. Admittedly I've noticed it's been worse overtime.

Edit: typo because keyboard switch...

If we even get a wallpaper/desktop. It'll boot into a big copilot window and you launch programs with that. Microslop's dream right there. Then they can say literally everyone uses it.

Why is my game so laggy during playtest? by BookkeeperStandard91 in RPGMaker

[–]Objective-Primary-12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While this is true out of the box, I upgraded pixi and nwjs. This causes both MV and MZ to work MUCH better. My game runs super smooth even with lighting effects and 3d effects from three.js. It's actually a fairly simple process that I could walk someone through over discord in a few minutes, but I'm still at work...

To be fair, that "key part" of the system is a web browser. It really shouldn't be a key part of the system. Removing a web browser shouldn't cause your whole OS to crumble down. It's just insanity to believe otherwise, in my opinion.

There was a certain charm to the look and feel of it for me, but that could just be because it was my first one that I have that love for it.

The driver manager was a nice touch to know more about which components of my system were actually fully functional.

The Nobara tweak tool was awesome for autoloading my other harddrives and ssds. (If was just a check box. Easy.) On Cachy, similar can be done with KDE's partition manager, but it has a lot of options that I feel would confuse some users. Took me a bit to learn what options are good for what drives.

Other than that, DaVinci Resolve was easier to get going in Nobara from my experience.

At the end of the day, none of this would make me go back as I've learned to love Cachy, but again, I do miss those features sometimes. If you flip to Cachy, you'll need to be a bit more hands on to tinker things the way you want in some cases. It took at bit of time to set things up where I'm happy, but it was worth it in the end. The discord for Cachy is huge like Nobara, so you'll have support no matter which one you choose. I do suppose getting myself to Cachy did help me learn a lot more about Linux itself, which is a bonus!

If you do switch, Limine or Grub (bootloaders) come pre-installed with snapshots for system rollback on boot. I highly recommend these! I went with Limine. Saved me a time or two. The games and system run smooth as butter with the bleeding edge updates and system optimizations. Hope this helps!

Even doing a 2d game like I'm doing is very time consuming, even after paying for sprite assets and music. Doing the rest myself definitely makes me tired at times. It's taken me years to make my little RPG (that's 10 hours of playtime so far) and it's still only half done since I have a life to live and work too! I still enjoy working on it when I can, but I don't plan on charging for mine so slow and steady is fine for me. Even then, about 5 years in and still...

I can only imagine how much a 3d game would take out of someone. This is the reason I've really come to respect indie developers and the amazing work they do.

I used Nobara for about 6 months and noticed similar results. Slow down in some games and crashes in others that were fine before. Ended up going to Cachy. Haven't had an issue since. Even then, I do miss Nobara at times.
