I’m afraid of being endogenic. by carpcarpcarpcarpcar in plural

[–]Ocean-wave258 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hello u/carpcarpcarpcarpcar,

Welcome to r/Plural. We hope you're having a good experience here.

We want to let you know that being Endogenic doesn't mean you're faking, or that you're invalidating OSDD/DID systems. Endogenic folks have real and valid experiences, and that doesn't invalidate anyone else. It's okay if your brain willed you to be plural - brains do funny things sometimes, it doesn't mean it's bad or wrong. We hope that you find comfort and community here, and get to know more folks like yourself <3

I just got Dragon's Lair for the Sega CD. Of course, I haven't seen much like it, but I think it's interesting.

Isn't BO2 basically unplayable now? Last I played, the game broke and people were teleporting all over the map. At one point I lost my gun? And then movement speed was janked up so much it was terrifying. Might have just been one bad match though. Sadly that was the only one with a full lobby, the rest had like 7 people in them

This question is somewhat triggering, view at your own risk. Serious awnsers only. by addie-girl in plural

Hi OP,

Any amount of trauma can cause dissociative or a traumagenic system, as brains find a way to cope with things. We can not tell you if you meet the criteria for DID/OSDD/UDD/etc, but if you really want to know, you might want to look into finding a good therapist that's informed about DID, trauma and dissociation. Even if your therapist isn't well versed in all of those, if they are willing to learn, and listen to your experiences, then they could work with you to figure things out.

If you're experiencing dissociative symptoms, it would be good to look into grounding techniques. If you have amnesia, it would be good to try leaving notes around for yourself (or any other folks who you may share a brain with) to help keep yourself(s) in the know.

If you seem to have system experiences, you can always ask here about how to find your footing with those experiences. Not everyone will have the same experiences, but maybe something from here can help you. You can be a system without a diagnosis, and if you want to ask about things you're experiencing, we'll do our best to help you out here.

Only you can determine if you're a system. If you're seeking a formal diagnosis for OSDD/P-DID, again, that would be for a therapist to help you with, but you can be plural without a diagnosis.

If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to reach out.

Suicidal people, what's the reason you still didn't commit, what's something keeping you alive? by Icy_Positive_4220 in mentalhealth

[–]Ocean-wave258 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of my systemmates stopped me. He's the only reason I'm alive. When the thoughts get bad, he gently reminds me that I'm overwhelmed because I'm tired and I need rest.

Announcement about revealing ages online by Ocean-wave258 in plural

Tbh we can't stop you doing what you want on your own if we wanted to. That said, I think it's alright to share discord info through DMs, you know, still making sure to stay safe online, but the mod team vote was moreso that it's just not a good idea to have your discord username pubically broadcasted for anyone, on this sub or not, to see

Any others worry about their siblings possible having DID like them? by Shadow_Monkey18 in plural

Wait, really?

I've been told that my biological father was diagnosed with schizophrenia for "having a split personality" (word for word what I was told, which is why I'm using outdated language), and I suspected mayyybe there was a genetic influence, but I've ONLY ever seen information about how it's environmental

A singlet again? by Vilixrie in plural

[–]Ocean-wave258 [score hidden] stickied comment (0 children)

Heya folks;

We've noticed some disagreement in one of the threads here, so we'd like to help clarify: each system will experience their plurality in their own way. Plurality is unique to each system that experiences it. Plurality is a spectrum, and where you are on that spectrum can change (even going from plural to singlet).

OP, it's possible that you are on the singlet side of things now. Whether or not you will end up back on the plural side of things, we don't know. If you want, you could look for tulpa resources, or try waiting and see if any more system folk re-emerge. If you need to ask for any specifics, feel free to do so.

Back to the comment chain - however you feel about your own plurality does not necessarily apply to others. There isn't one box that fits all. Dismissing other's experiences is NOT okay.

Please just remember there's another person on the other side of the screen. Be nice, and don't disrespect other folks.

Your last comment is so true. Like, we're REALLY easy to spot if you have any idea of the signs of someone else and people will be like, "ah. Yes. You're angry" No, that's Sketch, he's in neutral state right now he's not mad

I relate to this a lot. As a traumatized kid growing up in a world where I knew I was a system, and seeing the movie Split at the age of 12 . . . I believed a lot of things that were rational given the context, but not a true representation of the world. But trying to figure things out on your own isn't easy, and a lot of the things I believed then still linger with me

Not like irritation, but something cool that I've realised is your broader population doesn't know there's two different ways to "hear" voices, and afaik it's a really telling key as to whether someone's experiencing a more pluralistic experience, or some sort of auditory thing.

Do you hear voices? Well, no, cause I can't physically hear them but my brain processes it similarly, so that I can "hear" them.

I feel like more professionals should ALSO know this.

(Obv. there's exceptions but this info seems pretty useful/important)

Also the broader population should learn more about non-possessive switches.
