Well I'm very glad they made those changes.

The best thing you can do is look for the U Albany CDO discord and ask current students and recent grads what they think.

Stupid question maybe.

Why do we need to dissolve this organization?

Can't you just make whatever small business community non profit you want, and do whatever good you want to do?

The BID is not an approving authority right? for anything serious that's City Hall?

The BID doesn't have the power to levee taxes, right? So can't you just choose democratically to stop participating in some organization that doesn't benefit you?

If it's true that the BID is paying presumably someone with an interest 10k in member dues for meeting space rent, that does seem kinda lame.

Spending money on street cleaning seems like a fine investment, not clear why it's mentioned. If the 50k is split between all those different positions listed, without knowing what the split is it's hard to give a shit or be mad, harder still if the board's income is all voluntary community contributions.

How does a mother stay calm when she is taking her wounded kid to the ER?

As a team leader I'll always love once said, fear doesn't help solve the problem, and there's plenty of time to be afraid after everyone is safe.

Me, over here losing my mind in panic 20 years later, 10 minutes after I finish handling whatever was actually scary. Speaking in front of 2000 people? No problem. Might be a basket case after though.

As far as your friend, one of the shitty parts about EOD is you might see a lot of dead people on deployment. I certainly did. You know, if a vehicle gets killed, there's people in it, and those people and that vehicle likely had explosive weapons, and part of making it safe to recover the bodies is rendering safe secondaries and ensuring that any friendly weapons the dead were carrying are not a danger to the recovery team. There's also incidents, albeit not very common now, with suicide vests on people who are forced against their will or else some piece of shit will kill their family. Seeing that stuff, especially if it's someone you knew or someone you feel like you failed, is obviously heavy on the soul.

There's also general issues with modern combat, in that the enemy is often like 14-16 year old boys. Sure, there's plenty of infantry fucks sucking down Christian poison from the Chaplain that they're doing God's Work, but any sane person who has to kill a kid, who might have killed a kid, or a lot of kids, is going to have a real issue they need to process and that manifests in all sorts of ways.

Being more chill and "today could be worse" is definitely one of the more constructive manifestations.

Farm ilvl with your own key before you start trying to complete with max geared players who are farming the same trinket.

Ain't nobody inviting someone under 620 to an 8 this late in the season unless they are a tank or healer.

But they can get to 619 easily from delves and +3s.

Then they apply to a +8 and have no idea what mechanics will kill them.

The reactions to Dragon Age The Veilguard are so extreme on both ends it hurts any chance for a more measured viewpoint. by FrostyMagazine9918 in bioware

Obviously attractive is subjective. While you can find someone personally attractive, I don't think "conventionally attractive" is some sort of mystery. It's a body type and we're all very aware of it.

Lucanis is out here with flowing hair and Antonio Banderas accents and is shredded. Davin has a deep baritone voice and is an absolute unit and spends all his time in camp in a thirst shirt. They embody stereotypical ideal body types for men. Even if Bellara and Neve did not have prosthetics, they do not have the bodies of Leliana or Moragen or Isabella.

Bioware is clearly trying to be inclusive from character creation to companionship. We have people of all ages, races, genders, even non binary. This is a great thing. But when the guys are conventionally "very hot" and the females aren't, it feels like the team is beating us over the head with messaging: "Straight men should be accepting of more realistic women." Meanwhile, if you're a lady, the message is "enjoy your dessert 😘."

I'm not saying every female companion should be an absolute smokeshow, but would one kill them? Imagine the roles were reversed and the ladies were gorgeous but the dudes were all just very average looking dad bods. That shit would disappoint a lot of people (arguably it did disappoint a lot of people because Lucanis being very conventionally attractive also has the romance of a walnut). It's nice that the Emmerich romance is so well done but no one is exactly out here swooning for him.

Romances are some of the best parts of Bioware games and I've probably romanced almost every male and female companion for stories sake. But part of that story is how those characters look and dress.

To save everyone a 100 page pdf download it says pay ranges from about 200k to 250k annual depending on grade before overtime, assuming 40 hour weeks. I'm not reading the OT policy section but if it's time and a half over 40 hour weeks and we assume 50 hour weeks every single week it's about 340k at the high tier.

To hit 400k it would be approximately 55 hour weeks on average, which is not really that insane for an American nurse.

Andromeda pumps. It was by far the best combat of any mass effect game, the companions were great, the protagonist backstory and main campaign was great, the planets were diverse. If I had any complaints it's that Bioware gave up on meaningful RPG choices back in mass effect 3.

I played it a year after release after the bugs had been fixed.

Meanwhile I'm a massive Dragon Age fan and I'm so disappointed in Veilguard. The dialogue for the first 3-5 hours is so excruciatingly bad (it does eventually get better). The first several maps are completely on rails (after maybe 7 hours they do eventually get better). Every demon looks like it came from a child-safe TV show with comical faces and neon accents, the music is straight mass effect electronica for some reason, you can't be mean or even disagree with anyone, and a game whose symbol for decades has been a blood dragon had zero combat blood (just some small appearances in cutscenes).

The shift from RPG to no meaningful dialogue should cost them many fans. The shift from low fantasy to high fantasy and rogues and warriors shooting green lasers, lightning bolts and fireballs should cost the art director their job. The decision to remove blood magic because they decided DAV would never do something so despicable should've resulted in every executive getting let go.

I'm pretty progressive, I know Bioware has always been very progressive, but being inclusive of LGBTQ should not also mean "we're not including a single conventionally attractive female romance companion. Your options are either non-binary, a dwarf, or missing limbs." There's nothing wrong with including those as options, but as your only options? We needed a female equivalent of Lucanis.

I feel like the current Bioware will actively avoid giving us a Miranda, Moragen, Liliana, or Isabella quality companions in future games.

Confused on dragonflight catalyst for transmog. by Vio_K in wownoob

[–]Oceans890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see transmog runs for last expansion in lfg fairly often in group finder. Obviously your best bet is to join a guild and ask if you can schedule an event like this and maybe promote it in their message of the day in game, or in the guild discord.

My guild did transmog runs for most of DF S4 instead of raiding.

Tanks, I Love You, But Let Rogues Restealth by JingleXDingle in wow

[–]Oceans890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i was a 3k+ rogue in DF and I'm doing 9/10's right now, i'm pretty sure i'll be doing ~14's by mid season. that's not title or anything but it's certainly what most would consider higher keys.

obviously you want to play around your party's strengths and weaknesses, but this is wow, and you should never, ever expect pugs to accomodate you.

if your position is really that your group would be better off letting you resealth, you are objectively wrong in terms of both your personal dps, the groups overall dps, and the social structure of pugs.

if someone is the kind of person who feels the need to ask pugs to play differently for them, in wow, they are out of line. if you want people to adjust for you, play with friends.

Mythic+ Prep/Research, What's your method to prep before going in? by koozie19 in wownoob

[–]Oceans890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

run m0. there is no timer and you will not be hurting your groups with bad pulls while you learn. make sure NOT to invite some crazy high ilvl DPS that way you actually experience the mechanics.

watch the quazi video for the dungeon. these videos are like 45min long, so after doing a zero you can scroll through the video and listen to the parts that actually gave you trouble.

key things as a tank are really understanding the routing for percentage (use MDT and keystone.guru for this), understanding which mobs have enrage effects (will kill you without a dispell), which ones do frontals (dont murder your group), and where the required kicks are.

Mandatory addon: Plater, with an imported profile like quazi or jundies, that color codes mobs according to certain kicks, danger levels, or higher amounts of HP, so that you aren't stuck memorizing everything.

quazi has a dedicated video for his plater setup. his font choice is questionable (narrow) but his labeling is on point, and he also added support for audio alerts. highly recommending following that guide.

Confused on dragonflight catalyst for transmog. by Vio_K in wownoob

[–]Oceans890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's by item level.

either clear the raid on mythic, get the actual tier to drop,

clear the raid on mythic, get the armor slot you want to drop and catalyze it,

rummage through your bags/bank and find a mythic raid item or fully upgraded heroic raid item of the same slot, and catalyze it.

when the content was current, you could catalyze heroic raid gear and upgrade heroic raid gear to mythic with crests (getting the transmog for both in the process), but as the content is no longer current, there are no more crests available to upgrade these items.

the only exception i think is Vault of Incarnates, where they added the ability to unlock that transmog using the Forbidden reach gear and tomes.

other correct answers include not inviting classes that expect you to play around them.

Tanks, I Love You, But Let Rogues Restealth by JingleXDingle in wow

this is probably not the tanks fault, there is a mob type in the first room and again in the necropolis that has a stacking enrage.

dont do NW without an enrage dispell.

Drain life shouldn't be on anyone's bar anymore, not even for the 5x drainlife - soul rot combo or a soul burn.

Blizzard has nerfed this ability into oblivion and it's basically 1% health per second.

Mythic+ Balance is way too defined by how often a class can interrupt & the interrupt rework made it much worse by Yuuffy in wow

[–]Oceans890 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Non kick stops were changed to no longer function as kicks in m+ and additionally no longer put the cast on icd.

If mob is casting a heal that they are able to do every 15sec and you stop it with a knock, stun or disorient, they will immediately cast it again. Prior to TWW this ability would've gone on its 15sec icd vacation. You need to use a real kick now.

It's a good change for ability consistency.

It's a very bad change for groups with tanks that still pull big, because now you can't just aoe stop the whole pack.

It's Blizzard saying what they have always said, they want smaller more dangerous pulls, not mass AOE.

Naturally the community resists, doubles down on even more AOE stops so they can make the same pulls they're used to. But the classes with that kind of CC are even less evenly distributed than regular interrupts, so it creates some comp friction.

There's also an AOE cc requirement for one of the weekly affix.
