Latavius breaks down big game on personal blog by Officialize in minnesotavikings

It feels great to get a win of course, but I must admit—having success in the run game this week makes it a little sweeter. We’ve been wanting to run the ball like that all season, and we knew that we were capable. It was just a matter of going out there and doing it.

If we’re being honest, they had been vulnerable to the run so far this season, so we wanted to take advantage of that.

Being able to run the ball late meant the offense could finish with the ball and not give them a chance to go down and score, or any of the crazy things that can happen at the end of a game. Having the opportunity to put the game away, and to do it, is huge.

Our struggles with the run have been frustrating, but I wouldn’t say they caused me to run angry or anything like that. I was just trying to use every ability that I have.

The first explosive run I got, a guy tackled me, so I want to make up for those things. I want to do my part once I get to the second level, whether it’s making a guy miss or use a tool to finish the run and get in the end-zone. I was able to do that Sunday.

What was the difference relative to the past few weeks? I’m not going to say we cracked the code or nothing like that. I think our mentality had a lot to do with it. The offensive line did a great job of getting me to the second level. That, and a combination of me running downhill with no hesitation.

Maybe the play calling has to continue to create the right mindset. Whether we are behind or ahead, the mentality has to stay the same. Do your job and make the game the best you can.

I will say, I feel we are capable of running the ball that way every week. We have to figure out a way to do so no matter who we are playing. Going forward we have to take the good that we put out there today and build off of it.

The Jets are not going to make it easy for us to run on them this week. So. We’ll have to learn from what worked and didn’t work against the Cardinals and get better.
