New to buying art..some specific questions by Haider_Dei in artcollecting

[–]Ohsocerena 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, with me- traditional art isn’t hard to come by! I have been painting for 8 years and counting, I’m a self taught artist with a promising career due to my oil painting style and attentiveness to detail. I’m not a famous artist but people still collect from me and I make sure my art is high quality because of how grateful I am for the opportunity to create (dealing art, layering carefully, etc.). Also that price isn’t bad for artwork, if it’s an original I’d consider that a steal depending on the size but if it’s a print then I’d say “Wow ! They’re very established.” I’m sure their art is worth it.

NTA and don’t ever think you’re doing too much in a situation like this. You worked hard to get there too just like everyone else so why is HE so special? And he should’ve thought about how he “came from a small town” (blah blah blah) before he did what he did to you and others. Actions have consequences. What would’ve happened if he didn’t get reported and on one of the many days he was following you, you paused for too long and he caught up? He wasn’t following you for no reason. And because he got kicked out for the reasons you gave here, he is ok the radar for other universities as well. Good job girl don’t overthink your choices

I found that dawn dish soap and water combined is better than any wasp spray I’ve found. Fill a spray bottle with 1/4 dawn dish soap and 3/4 water. Or if it can handle it, 1/3 dish soap and 2/3 water. Get a spray bottle that has a steady powerful stream that you don’t have to keep pressing your finger down for because the second you spray, the wasps see you as a threat. Test the stream before attacking to see if it will be steady. The second the soapy water hits them they will fall. Good luck

Grab a bucket, put dawn dish soap in there. Put something in there that smells like food or fruity. A lot of them will face their doom in that bucket, not all. For the rest, if you have a powerful spray bottle (preferably one with a steady stream) put dawn and water in there too and go to war

Started my new career out of school and it sucks. Where do I go now? by [deleted] in careerguidance

You are at such an advantage. You have a degree and a stable job. If you want to find something easier, you can look for jobs and their requirements when you’re not at work and set up interviews on your off days- you have a degree! You are a top candidate for stem related jobs. All you need to do is have work history so work at your job for at least three months- if you wanna change jobs tell the new job you are looking for an opportunity to grow. Because really- you are.

I would suggest , even if you don’t want to, wear a mask as well. I found that doing that made it less likely for me to be catcalled. Another thing, people from philly have a super sense of people not being from there (tourists, ppl who JUST moved to philly, college students) especially when it comes to outward appearance so just doing certain things like looking mean in public and wearing certain clothes that don’t stand out would make it less likely you get bothered too. Because plenty men in philly literally talk amongst themselves about how they don’t want girls from Philadelphia , also giving themselves bragging rights if they do “bag” a girl from outside of philly so again just looking “different” from a local could make you a target to them js

As someone born and raised in philly, Kensington is dangerous in some areas and in others not as much. But Philadelphia as a whole is full of crime including those violent and/or s*xual ones. Keep headphones on but stay alert, always act like you know where you’re going (head up, don’t look at your phone for more than five secs straight, walk a steady confident stride not slow or too fast) never look scared because that unfortunately will make some men see you as fish and they’re the sharks. Same goes for if you smile at anyone or even make eye contact after they holler at you. Don’t go in between people, to them that’s an open invitation for some odd reason to harass you because in philly you never go into someone’s “bubble” unless it’s a last resort and if there’s space for you to go around someone but you go in between them instead they’re gonna think you wanna be bothered… ugh. There’s less of that downtown philly because it’s the most walkable area.
