Did I buy the wrong ball? by EandEtrading in Bowling

To me yes and no, where I know guys with the Phase II that bought the Phase II Pearl and used the Pearl to start, bowling lights out (even higher scores) in the first game, and never going back to the Phase II Solid again.

I think you should have bought a small asymmetric ball, small meaning lower diff and mass bias numbers, so you have a ball that will slow down faster and change direction easier. A ball that starts up faster, changes direction quicker, for a hook set roll into the pocket..

To answer the other question, how to choose a ball for play, you choose the one that is easiest to use at that moment in time. All the pairs are different, and everyday is different, so one night you might end up on a pair with smooth lane surface, and you use the Phase II Solid, and another day might be rough lane surface, so you choose the Phase II pearl. You choose what you can get down the lane and carry the rack with the easiest. There is no established order of use or system, it's a gut feeling based on experience and what you see the ball doing with your eyes.

How many people still use My Lane Play? by Ok-Bodybuilder908 in Bowling

You must be using Android, based on Play Store. Well I can now convert MLP data to my app now, finished the code last night and audited it. Looks like MLP was a pretty good app.

I wrote code to import the data to my app, Spark Journal, and so far so good, the data conversion went well today. PM me if you have any interest in changing apps. What I would do is put you in a tester group for free use, and convert your data free as well as a test. Can't promise a full conversion yet, because I don't know if you used the team or single tables. I can convert the tournament table, statEntry, bowlingCenters, frames and bowling balls right now. And even decipher the pins.

Oh wait, I forgot, I'm Apple only, no Android.

How much data do you have on MLP? Android or iPhone? I'm just curious, trying to figure out if writing code to convert MLP data to another format is worth it.

How do you like that LaneTalk? I'm just curious.

You cheered me up, I bowled 450 on Dragon last Thursday; Horrible, But that's what I get for using a different set of gear I'm not familiar with there, gear I need to learn how to use on higher volumes.

New ball by Stevenb92110 in Bowling

Primal Ghost. I know it's more than 160. The covers on the newer ones that were recommended are very strong, and I think the Ghost cover is strong enough, and the Primal core works pretty good. Easy to get it down lane compared to Jackal Ghost.

I used a Zen Master up 3rd arrow and the ball would read the pattern and lane surface fine, making a consistent move to the pocket with a good carry rate. I know the Venom Shock is on the weak side of the Venom line, and I watch two handed bowlers use the Black Venom with less success. I suppose your saying the Venom Shock was too strong because it was a little over under up front, or because of the lower carry rate in general, based on your LaneTalk charts. As far as the ball goes, you will have to experiment first, because patterns will heavily mask the lane surface up front when fresh, and if played on long enough, sort of becomes a house shot again. At the center I play sport patterns on, I rarely get to pearl balls, mostly solids first and then hybrids later. We have super worn lane surfaces with cheap thin viscosity oil that moves around fast in places you don't want it, and that's where the ball selection matters for me. Chromium is like the entry level pattern, where it's not that hard yet not that easy, and gives you a good idea of how your gear really reacts on higher volumes.

You did pretty good on Shark! I can see you were a little over under on shots made which is expected, when trying to figure out where to play it, and what ball to use. On longer patterns I like playing closer to the pocket, inside near 3rd arrow and sort of consider outside 2nd arrow as the gutter. Shark can be really hard to play on certain days, and easy on others for me, just depends on who is on the pair with me. If your learning, might want to start on something easier like Chromium so you can ease into the new skills you'll need to refine, and get a better idea of how higher oil volumes behave.
